Xbox Project Scorpio Announced - 6TFlops, 320GB/s - Fall 2017

Thing is Ryse wouldn't benefit much in general from 60fps, it's quite slow paced really. Maybe 4K + better graphics at 30fps would be a better showcase for Scorpio.

But Sunset definitely would be better at 60fps. Makes more sense to me!

But probably will be Ryse or something else bleh :(

Quantum Break is 720p IIRC but would love that to be a candidate for this too.

considering how terribly QB runs on beast PCs, i'm not so sure they can do much to make this game run better on Scorpio [like, obviously it WOULD, but really doubt they could make much room there without a lot of work to the actual engine itself].

i'm hoping, personally, this is Sunset Overdrive we're talking about, game was awesome but just couldn't stand the sub-native resolution and low fps.

There has been rumour of one 900p/30fps game being updated to 1080p/60fps. Sunset or Ryse are the ones that fit the bill so it might happen.

I hate the fact that we have to choose between these two. Sunset is objectively the better game, and since it ain't coming to PC, I'd go with this one. That said, I really like Ryse, the animations in that game are a sight to behold at 60fps.
I want both god dammit.

Quantum Break could achieve 1080p without the reconstruction bs or even 1440p with 6 TF right?

Yes both would be nice, but Sunset would make better use of it. I also think a good patch for the game could help give the game a second wind in sales. Particularly from people buying into Scorpio as their first Xbox this generation.

Anyone have a quote for this rumor?

The game runs best on AMD hardware, so I can see it hitting 1440p30 with console settings.

Thing is, they did give it away on Games with Gold, so the sales would be coming from newcomers to the ecosystem like you said. On the one hand, it's cool that a lot of people have it on their libraries, but on the other, the chances of it making some extra money are slim at this point.

I'd maybe take another look at QB if there was a 1440p patch or something.

I'm actually holding off my third playthrough for this precisely.

No it's never going to sell a fortune, but maybe enough to warrant a patch. Plus these type of updates give devs some good hands on time with the new hardware to help get up to speed. It's also one of the better 'variety' games in the current exclusive lineup, different to the shooters and racers and stuff.

Hopefully they aren't too busy with Spiderman. I bought Sunset but never played it lol so it would be ace for me!

Xbox One S has a different than original Xbox One.
Just the console image, afaik
That is to be expected

It hasn't been said but I assume the Scorpio will get a different (and probably fancier!) startup screen. I'll guess that it will be the startup Xbox One logo, with the addition of whatever the console ends up being called, "X", "Elite", "4K".

You guys remember this? (<-- Video with sound)

This was my favorite concept. Hope Scorpio has something cool.

Fuck yea, I'm saving second playthroughs for Scorpio and on a new 4K with HDR TV for quite a few games, Deus Ex, Gears 4, Forza Horizon 3 Hot Wheels, Batman AK and Quantum Break, Hitman, Wolfenstein and saving Ghost Recon Wildlands for the stable framerate.

Doubt some get patches tho.

That or make it a free game for those that buy Scorpio!!! That would be a great gesture on MS part.

Of course like many, I want to see the new games and whatever stuff they have that we do not know about...but going back to some games that I did not have time for is something I am really looking forward to as well. I have a ton of games both for Xbox One and Xbox 360 which I heard would also be improved somewhat. But totally 100% agree with you. It is going to be a blast going back to some games.

I just hope MS does a very good job at communicating what improvements they have for each game and communicating which games Dev's have gone back too and made specific Scorpio updates.

Is it worth getting a scorpio if i haven't got a 4k tv?. All this talk about 4k is really making me think about leaving it alone.

I know CDPR said they are done with Witcher 3, but if I was Phil, I would of gone to CDPR last year and paid them to patch Witcher 3 for Scorpio. 4k/30fps with improved AF and perhaps a few other little things would be pretty great. Game looks pretty great as it is on PS4/Xbox One, but imagine a Scorpio specific patch for it would be amazing. Give 1080p owners 60fps mode as well.

Yes. Phil has said there would be a lot of benefits for 1080p owners as well. I personally think they need to talk about this aspect as well during E3. The majority of current Xbox One owners are on 1080p and I am sure a big majority of Scorpio owners will also be on 1080p even though the marketing will be 4k. MS needs to show 1080p owners that it will have big advantages as well.

You get supersampling for every game and better framerates and better textures. Of course it's worth it for 1080p.

This is not all true. You will only get supersampling if a game is patched. You will get better framerates without patching (but only if they were bad to begin with--no jumps to a higher target without patching). You will only get better textures if a game is patched. Old textures will be improved in the distance by better AF, though.

There is no way this is happening, for either, but God damn @ sunset. Treat it as a relaunch (and push out the draw distance for fucks sake)

Oh, 1080p. Ok, nm.

didn't they say supersampling was done by the hardware? it should be for any game that's above 1080p then

I think no one can tell you that just yet. Actually, there's not even a proper answer for those who OWNS a 4K TV. We will have to wait, so we can see what the console can do by itself, without patches, and how many devs will support their games with a proper patch.

Apparently the console will do some improvements without patches; which is great:
Performance modes should be accessible to 4K users, while ultra HD rendering should super-sample down for those 1080p displays. Microsoft takes care of this at the platform level, and it requires that all titles should run at the same frame-rate or higher as the standard Xbox One. [UPDATE: Microsoft has clarified that 1080p supersampling is handled at the system level with higher resolution rendering modes as opposed to imposing this on the developer - we've adjusted the text to reflect this.]

But we also don't know how substantial those upgrades will be.

Plus Sunset Overdrive would be glorious in HDR too.

Scorpio could be the best thing to happen to Sunset Overdrive. It appears to be the perfect game to take advantage of a console with this kind of power.

Still waiting for it to hit Windows 10, but I suppose having a patch to update it for Scorpio would be pretty damned nice as well.

Wait, you can use Xbox credit on the Microsoft (website), how did I just find this out.....I been siting on $150+ Xbox credits since last holiday, now it could go into potentially funding my Scorpio.

Please Microsoft don't disappoint next Sunday.

Edit: I'll definitely be looking into getting those Newegg discounted Xbox Gift Cards. I remember eating off the $50 gc for $40 deals last year.

According to DF, Witcher 3 on Xbox One has dynamic resolution scaling, but they didnt see anything above 900P with frame rate drops.
So on Scorpio, we should be getting full 1080P and locked 30fps!!!
Now if CDPR releases a small patch to let the game run with an unlocked framerate then it should be 1080P @ 60fps, which would be nice :)

Would be easier to say that any game rendering above 1080p will have supersampling. This includes patched games and what will likely be the majority going forward, any newly released games.

Do you really believe the W3 would run at 60 FPS if they unlocked the framerate?

It's a majorly CPU intensive game, and would take serious time and optimisation to reach anything close to 60 at console settings. You'd be lucky if the framerate hovered in the high 40's, but 40-50 is more realistic.

With Crytek in the shitter, I really can't imagine Ryse being patched, especially with the PC version.

I don't see Crytek nor Insomniac nor Remedy patching games for Scorpio. Those are all in big projects for other publishers, they don't have the time, the ressources or the interest in patching old games that don't have a successor coming. There is no money in it. So it's most likely someone that still has a working relationship with them, maybe Dead Rising 3.

No, didn't realise it was CPU intensive :-(

Thats a shame.

Take it the game doesnt perform well on PC with i3's & pentiums etc?
