Sneakers |OT| Hypebeasts We Know About Ya

Curious how likely is it that big name brand releases from an established retailer (i.e. FootLocker, FinishLine, etc) are fake? Does that ever? Could it ever happen? I'm just wondering after watching the StockX video talking about fakes.

It's possible, but limited edtion boosts and yeezy's don't stay on the shelves very long.

One employee doing it possible, but a larger conspiracy would be very hard.

How comfortable have people found Common Projects?

(I know they are not sneakers strictly speaking, forgive me)

I was just looking at the cmoon projects achilles low after some people were talking about it in the mens fashion thread. They dont look comfortable though and i wasnt gonna pay those prices.
'However, it made me realize i should get a pair of white sneakers, so i just got these and they are super comfy.

I bought some common projects....

The most uncomfortable overpriced shits ever. I never could break in the leather.

Buy a pair of stans for quarter of the price. Dont bother with the boost/flyknit models either - just the normal ones.

So ive only recently started getting into sneakers and i want to know the best way to get them on release day.

If i want a new airforce 1 that is dropping on a specific date, what should i do? Wait online and f5 on the nike site?

Is online better than going to a store?

If online, which stores should i refresh on?

If stores which stores should i usually head too? I really want that airforce 1 i linked on the top of the page.

Most legit stores do raffles, otherwise depends on your city's crime rate if you want to camp out all night and can safely get home.

Online largely depends on luck. Follow a bunch of twitter or instagram accounts to find drops.

I try every big drop and I score L's.

If you show up early enough and the stores are getting the shoes thats probably the best way to do it. Online is more of a crap shoot.

For Nike get the SNKRS App, for Adidas get Confirmed. Subscribe to @adidasalerts on twitter (im sure there is one similar for nike)

Sign up for Niketalk and follow along, great forums for both brands

Pro-tip: Alot of stuff trades near retail on StockX and GOAT anyways. Prices in the aftermarket tend to spike right around release and settle down after

There is an ultraboost version too

Oh man, these look good. I'm also new to the sneaker world; I noticed the shoe is sold out on adidas. How does adidas work? They never get them back in stock? Prices skyrocketed on ebay. Any other place I can look for them?

Edit: I'm talking about the non-Ultraboost ones

Adidas is pretty random with the restocks. On boosts with rare colorways it doesnt happen much or at completely random times. Sometimes Googling can net results though

Is the SNKRS app basically the same as the nike+.com store? Because on the site they always give a time and date for when it drops. So as long as i know this, i can just go on the nike online store and buy, right?

Its basically the same thing?

I think the SNKRS app lets you enter raffles and such for really limited stuff. But maybe you can do that on the website too? Not sure.

Some shoes only drop via SNKRS, as in, they never release on Nike.com, literally only through the app or the SNKRS site, which is again different from Nike.com

Thanks all

While snkrs isnt nike.com it is like a sub section of it and can even be linked to it through the main website.

They seem to be the same, although the app may be better with 1 click purchase and notifications

@swooshsupply is the version for Nike.

I'm pretty sure they're both run by the same guy.

(Related anecdote: Wanna see Nike vs adidas hype these days? Check the likes and retweets when the adidas account tweets about some random unhyped shoe going on sale, say some regular ass Gazelles, and compare it to the numbers that even the most hyped Jordan drops get on the Nike account)

Pretty much all of the hype is on Adidas now sans a few very high profile Nike or Jordan releases.

Adidas has all the momentum right now, and it's pretty awesome.

What's pretty awesome is that I can get all sorts of Nike and Jordan pairs on discount these days. Just got black cat 31s for under $110.

I find most Adidas pretty ugly. Ultraboosts are nice and I plan on getting a pair for comfort on days I know I'll be walking all over the place, and NMDs and Inikis are alright too, but most everything else is just not for me.

side note: still salty that i couldnt get breds and royals even though i work at footlocker, fuck retail smh

I mean, Nike is still far far far far far away the #1 sneaker brand.

But right now, in sneakerhead culture and mindshare, Adidas is eating Nike's lunch.

The Adidas hypetrain right now is basically all of the models you said plus just a few other models.

Adidas is doing what Nike did in the 90s, making a lot of hit silhouettes that people want and will want for the foreseeable future. I can definitely see the NMDs and UBs being evergreen, in the same way that many of Nike's models from the 90s still are.

Depends on what you want to do with them. They are advertised as running shoes before they were co opted as lifestyle shoes.

Like if you want to do lifts I'd say no because it's too soft.

Depends on what you're gonna do in the gym.

Best use I've found for mine was just using them on the elliptical. Too soft for lifting, not enough traction during bench & not responsive enough during non-treadmill running during my usage.

Nike hype is definitely down. I saw it with my own collection. Never thought of wearing an adidas shoe and had dozens of Jordans until about two years ago. Now I couldn't imagine buying another pair of Nikes. Just don't find any of their current output compelling.

I still love Jordans, but it's all retro stuff and I've already picked up most of what I want over the years. I haven't liked a Jordan silhouette since the 12. And that came out in the 90's.

Plus bball shoes in general don't feel "in" for everyday use. This is totally anecdotal, but I just don't see people rocking basketball shoes anymore. It's all lifestyle stuff or runners like ultra boosts.

Even tho I don't own a pair of UB yet... Are they a heavy duty running shoe? I'm a pretty active and consistent runner, and haven't ever seen someone at a race wearing UBs. The uncaged I tried on were comfortable, but I'm not sure I'd qualify them as a running shoe. I get adidas markets them as such, but once I get a pair it'll likely just be used for walking.

I actually really like the cortez revival. Seems very reasonably priced too.

Most of my adidas stuff aren't actually directly from adidas lol. I've got 1 iniki and 1 NMD R2, but the rest of my collection is X White mountaineering, X Alexander Wang, Y-3, wings + horns, and so on. They do some really nice collab stuff.

I'm going with a no as I managed to wear through and crack the Boost in the forefoot portion (where the ball of the foot is) of my UB 2.0s after roughly 6 months of use (walking/standing/light workouts). I still have them and use them but they were never gonna make it as actual running shoes - my Nikes and Hokas take care of that.

Currently rotating my UB 3.0s with other shoes to prevent such fast degradation with normal wear and tear as my 2.0s suffered. Shame too as the Continental rubber sole helps deal with avoiding slipping after it rains.

This is one of the reasons why I can't justify dropping $180 on UBs that often when I personally know I'll wear them out in less than a year. At this rate, probably going to just stick to Inikis and NMDs since they're cheaper.

I didn't think I'd find a pair of sneakers more comfy than Ultraboosts but damnit I did.

Not a fan of the Turbo Red on the OG CW, but sure do love the White Mountaineering collab. So good that I picked up the Overkill ”Coat of Arms" EQT 93/17 collab as well.

6 months seems like too short of time to wear out, especially if its mostly just standard use. That's disappointing to hear, and I'll probably wear my UB a little less to make them last.

Honestly dunno how I did it, but I was pretty much wearing the shoes everyday as soon as I got them (July 2016). They were the shoes I ended up wearing to work due to all the walking/standing I did on a daily basis. As far as working out in them, it was quite sparse as I'd only use them if I forgot my usual workout shoes. Even then, most I did was sprints/strides using them or had them on while lifting.

So yeah, I wasn't trying to run trails or climb rocks wearing them and they handled the rain just fine so no clue how they wore out so damn fast.

Nah that happened to my ultraboost uncaged. The boost sole just split. I'm not entirely willing to blame that on boost, seeing that i noticed it after putting it through the wash, but i did the same to my r2 and they're still alright.

But yeah, been careful with my boost shoes now.

Also they're really hard to keep white.

So the very first ever SF-AF1 Mid in the black camo dropped an hour ago and its sold out. I was using this to gauge interest since i wanted the white one, and now i know im going to have to battle for it when it drops.
