In this game ? A try hard would be someone who within 24 hours has memorized every possible combination of random placements on the map, uses whichever kill has the fastest animation time to shave seconds or whichever is the most expensive in game kill so you know "just how good and how many points and high leveled he is", and talks shit and or spent days after launch practicing shift grab for hours. Willing to use an exploit as long as they don't get caught and will take advantage of any meta or slight trick to get an upper hand and takes the entire thing too seriously. Fancies themself an MLG because they got mad skillz bro. Prone to Ragequits if a low level counselor escapes, makes up excuses if they lose.
Example PSN names include things like "K1LLah_fo_HyRe" "SWAG_LeGenD_420" or "xX_Plague_of_God_xX"

It seems like you are mingling some different things there... Like, anyone who ragequits, is an unlikable prick, or takes advantage of glitches is a scumbag. But being efficient, capable, or being generally good at the game seems like a good quality to me.

There's "good at the game" and there's "seems to have no job or responsibilities"

This sort of comment comes across a little like sour grapes to me...

I didn't realise it was possible to time a hit on Jason just before he grabs you after shifting:

Despite what some would have you believe, as strong as the shift grab is, it isn't instantaneous. You can disrupt it with movement as well. The longer you are in the shift, the faster you accelerate. If someone is grabbing after a shift consistently, they are probably sling-shotting around you, and grabbing the place you are going to be running into. Sometimes running towards where they were when they shifted is a great way to disrupt this (though if they are just chasing you in a straight line, this is an easy kill for them).

ok, so if you plan didn't work out too well, there's no need to ragequit, we all get xp no matter what the outcome, don't people get that?
Apparently not. It is annoying and slightly demoralizing when the 2-3 people who die first quit out of the game right then. Like, you died, get over it.

The rage quitters has actually made me be a little more merciful as Jason just so I don't make half the lobby leave.

I'd say a try hard is someone that tries too hard to be funny while consistently missing the mark. Some might say they're also called Xaero Gravity.

Still wanting to try this but my buddy won't budge from pu battlegrounds. Meh. That game looks like dayz and rust I have no interest in.

I mean if their life's goal is to be good at a video game, have at it. They're just not fun people to play against.
Which is where matchmaking should come in. The xp level up system I think sort of butchers true MM rankings for people of different skills but ideally its designed to get you playing with people of similar skill.

I was wondering if this game was worth getting but my location makes it sorta perplexing (I live in Japan).

I think the lag would be bad if I were to play on either PC or PS4.

I have a blast watching TypicalGamer play this game tho.

Works for me! I have nothing against high level players...I'm just not one and I don't really like playing against them.

And? How do you think people get to such a high level of play in video games in general.

It's people who are more concerned with the meta and treating every match like it's the final round of a tournament, lol. It's the people in a match with all randoms that still go "Okay it takes 2 seconds less to get to Objective B from this spawn point than Objective A, and this edge of this one rock I can corner shoot from so they can't hit me but the edge of my gun will clip through and I can hit them." "If I cancel a grenade throw on an empty clip and switch back to my gun it will have reloaded by itself so I don't need to wait for the reload animation." Then on top of that, throw in trash talking, sore losers, yelling, and maxing the level cap 2 days after launch and you get some less than fun people.

That just sounds like being good at the game, and other than the bolded I see nothing wrong with that myself. Even a little bit of friendly trash talking isn't too bad.

Unfortunately, a lot of times encountering someone who does the non bold section, are also the same people doing the bold section so I guess it's a YMMV situation. And yeah friendly trash talk is no big deal, but just yesterday I had someone on mic yelling that he wished another player would get in an accident and get paralyzed, sooo you never know.

I have a room up and running, guys. It is a lonely place at the moment... Join me!

I assure you, you don't have to worry about high level play from me.

Xaero, you clearly don't play this game enough. Come join the party, bro!

Sweet Jesus, that's ridiculous.

Tis my bed time unfortunately. If I can't sleep I'll get back on xD

Turns out the issues I had with getting a game post-patch were almost entirely my internet's fault. Reset router after noticing that the error message said "Lost connection to host" rather than "connection timeout". Got into a good game pretty quickly when I tried again.

I just played for almost 8 hours (3am-11am in my time zone) which is borderline unprecedented for me with any game. I rarely play a game for even 60 minutes at a time these days.

I struggle to think of a time where I've had more fun with a video game in the 25ish years I've been playing them.

It helped that the group had some real characters, to put it mildly. One guy in particular had me absolutely losing my shit and laughing more than I have in a long time, especially when he was Jason. It was so hilarious I actually wanted him to be Jason again more than I wanted to be Jason.

Also, shout out to the act of kindness from someone called OhHeyMich who got the 4 door car working by themselves, then rather than just escape, drove around beeping when they were near me and one other player, before allowing all 3 of us to escape together. I appreciated that.

Speaking of try hards, I got called just that the other day after playing a round as Jason. And it's not like I'm some high level player, nor do I trash talk (or, well, talk very much at all). I went 8 for 8, but three of them I slashed/throwing knifed. A couple of dudes in the match kept saying I was a "tryhard" and that they could tell because all my kills were via slashing. Like, ??

They probably had pocketknives, thought that made them invincible ( how appropriate in a game full of teenage tropes btw), and were then salty they didn't get to jab you with them and run away.

If you're a GAF member ShewBoxX, I want you to know I'm hunting your ass and sooner or later, we'll be in the same game again. I don't care if it takes three hours, three days, or three months, I'm going to find you, and I'm going to fuck you up. 😡

Played a few games last night. I ended up being Jason. I wandered around the map for a good 15 minutes and couldn't anyone. I was about to quit because I thought the game was glitched. Turns out all 8 guys were together which I thought I was funny. I killed 3 and 4 ended up getting away.

Had my first experience with collaboration. One kid, who sounded like he was 8, said to Jason I will help you find them. He started follow me beat me with the bat. I killed him with the machete but of course he comes back as Jarvis (who I called in at the start of the match) and shotguns me a few minutes later. The kids then gets into the tent and lets Jason kill him. The whole thing was pretty annoying.

This game is so much fun, I can't stop playing it.

The other day as Jason I morphed to the car, three counsellors were there one starting the car two waiting to get in. My morph caught them by surprise and I just hear them all start screaming and panicking. I grab one and start killing him giving the others time to escape but the driver in his panic decides not to let the other person get in and slams his foot on the accelerator. The stranded counsellor starts cursing him out while I just chuckle. But the driver slams straight into a tree so I walk over and yank him out the car.

Moments like this make the game.

That's freaking awesome lol....I am looking forward to the server fixes on the Xbox so I can put more time in this game. Have barely played but the little I have has been fun.

It's pretty much only way to get kills with the slow Jason's.

Its for sure the most effective way of getting kills against fast/high stamina characters if you are chasing them out in the open. If they are hidden in a cabin, you can be a bit more creative. I usually will shift in the cabin and appear behind them so I'm not grabbing them immediately after the shift but probably a second or two.

One idea to fix the shift-grab: I think there should be a check against someone's composure and current level of fear when you shift and appear near them. If they "fail" the check, then they startle for a second and maybe stumble or something, allowing Jason to make the grab. EDIT: Sorry, forgot to mention this implies they put in some kind of delay to prevent the shift-grab and this would be a method to counterbalance a slower Jason having no realistic way of grabbing fast characters.

Do they have rights to and can use the remake Jason? What about FvJ Jason? Know they can't use Freddy, but could they use Jason from the movie perhaps?

How would you even put Pam or even part 5 Jason in the game when they're just normal people and would break the omnipresent rules of the killer in the game?

Part 5 Jason still did BS horror movie killer magic like any other Jason. He also at one point essentially walks through a door like he was a superman. Part 2 Jason is in the game and at that point in the series he was not meant to be some spectral entity, he was supposed to just be a normal guy. Even Part 3 and 4 Jason's were just meant be some super strong mongoloid guy. Jason being able to teleport was pretty much an in joke that they pushed into part 8, since everyone always watched the movies and wondered how Jason magically got to places so fast or was able to catch people while walking. So they did it as a Joke in part 8 by having him magically move to places. It works good for the game.

Pamela I think would be fun, they could create a "it's ok" like stun where people are calmed down and stunned because they think she's a nice old lady. Make her very weak, even easy to kill, but give her other good abilities, she can run, tons of stalking, more of a stealthy Jason replacement. Reduce the amount of teleportation they can do

good games with some GAf members on XBox yesterday evening. I apologize but the game crashed out to dashboard and I started feeling bad so I just didnt go back in the game.

H20 Disgraced, great hiding spot that one game btw.

Has anyone else encountered a glitch where a counsellor is hiding in the cupboard but it doesn't give you the option of killing him inside It? It's happened in a couple games I've been in
