2017 Microsoft E3 Conference [Over]

What shirt should Phil Spencer wear today?

Hate to say it, but i was happier after the 2013 XBONE E3! Atleast they had the games going for it, like Killer Instinct and Halo, they don't have anything im really interested in now other then METRO. I feel like i just watched a Google Play conference on new game apps that their trina charge me $499 for!!! lol

Ill give MS props for showing a lineup of real, tangible games that you will be able to play within the next year or so and no vaporware.

But they also didnt have anything that surprising or exciting. Biggest pop was Xbox BC and I can count the number of Xbox games I would want to play that havent been ported to other platforms on 1 hand.

That whole ' 'Console Exclusive', 'World Premiere console', 'Xbox and Windows 10 exclusive' etc...' shit was a joke. I have no idea what game was on what with all the different categories.

When people see through their shit it makes it mean absolutely nothing.

Even if a game was an actual exclusive, I couldn't tell so it's not exciting. They diluted any meaning of the word.

I didn't feel the conference was bad, but it was exceedingly safe and kind of boring for that reason. I'm not sure if MS sold their new hardware softly because they didn't want to alienate existing X1 customers or what, but they definitely treated it more casually than I expected.

As a press conference, I liked it. Games, games, games, that's why I am watching. Good pacing and very well done when they choose to do stage shot vs full screen video. Other companies should take note. Quite a few extended gameplay sessions too.

MS seems to have back/forwards compatibility figured out. As someone that has heavily invested in the Sony platform, it definitely feels like a 'grass is greener' situation. Right now, I wished I was on the Xbox side. PS5 needs to have this figured out, or I will seriously consider switching.

Even on a non-1080 stream (GB) it was clear what extra's One X had to offer.

That leaves the only real downside of the the press conference... $499. While a totally fair price to ask, it most likely will have difficulty finding market share. For me, it's not a price point where I would jump in as a secondary console and the exclusive library still isn't enticing enough for me to even consider it at a lower price.

I'd rate this conference a solid 8.5/10. Sony has to bring it, and show a load of titles that will release within the year and/or have a big surprise (PS+ shake-up) to be on par. But I very much expect a lot of stuff we already now about and the standard FIFA, COD, BF presentations.

8/10

Forza
Ori
Crackdown 3
Anthem

Lawd.

But the Middle Earth gameplay and the price really hurt. The OG Xbox BC had me almost in tears until I only saw a game I don't even know. It would have been incredible to see some Ninja Gaiden but I guess MS can't hack it. It's a shame there's no VR (even a little mention) and no Mistwalker. It just needed that nostalgia edge to it.

Very hard to see how Microsoft can sell a console at double the price of their cheaper box that has no exclusives.

Also there were a fair amount of cool games in that conference but not many that are truly exclusive to the xbox. I really thought we'd see a new ip from them but maybe they are saving those for the next gen.

Also The Last Night is one of the most interesting looking games I've seen in a long while. Looking for to playing that.

Actually, im surprised that they stopped spinning the cloudz power thing.

Also, with a 499 price the xbonex is DOA of you consider that all games are on PC too.

Old Microsoft would have
- Focused on the Hardware all night
- Had a HALO or Gears game to tease or show
- Would have had a COD game to show
- Would have each studio' or game rep demo the game on stage
- Would dedicate a portion of the conference on Multimedia (TV & streaming video)

New Microsoft
- 42 game on screen
- Pretty 4K games have extended show times
- Xbox OG BC
- $499 Xbox One X (XbOX)
- There's a Dragonball Game?
- There's a Switch on screen... lol (8-bit wise)
Their direction wasn't wrong but with these platform holder conferences, compelling exclusive content is the substance. Any third party additions are just garnish. It doesn't sell a console.

A commitment to new content is what gets people excited. Not every game in a Sony or Nintendo conference will appeal to everyone, but when the commitment to producing your own content is shown, it also shows off confidence in your own system. MS seems to show no confidence in game development. Nearly everything they personally showed has been showing for 2-3 years

Don't expect too much if you don't have a 4K TV. Just like the Pro.

Yeah, I don't even have a 4k tv yet. Not to mention if I buy one, it will be the living room Tv, which will move my current living room one to my game room. So I am 2 tv purchases from seeing the benefit. Geez.

You guys saw that game called unruly heroes on the indie games montage? It looks so similar to rayman origins/legend visual wise and I'm looking all over the web and can't find anything on it

So how many actual xbox exclusives did they show? Missed most of the conference and I'm not interested in the "enhanced" multiplatform game announcements. Anyone got a brief list of exclusives?

I'm not asking for a list. Like, You can put the new exclusives in one sentence for all I care. 5 max.

Admittedly when you zone it down to strictly new exclusives I can see how it's disappointing since only 2 (I think?) were shown. I'm just looking at the show as a whole. After the beginning there was little fluff. I'm excited for crackdown, Sea of Thieves, Ori, Forza 7,State of Decay 2, and Cuphead.

I game on PC so I'm trying to look at this objectively and this conference gave both Xbox and PC owners a reason to be happy IMO.

Is there any way to get the stuff from the Mixpot if I didn't watch from Mixer or am I boned? Didn't realize they were giving out free stuff.

If you watch the xbox daily streams every night this week you can get it also, they added that because of mixer having issues.

Hope they really make a point of them actually being exclusive, they go down a similar route MS just did I'll be even more annoyed with them.

Considering sony doesn't have much of a vested interest in the PC market space it's hard to imagine they'd be touting any sort of play anywhere type stuff.

Didn't think that was a poor conference at all. Tons of good looking games. I do agree that there was no exclusive heavy hitter that spoke to non-Xbox fans.

I think the X is great hardware and makes me want to upgrade to a 4K TV. I just won't be doing it at launch.

See that's the thing and where it seems like some already have their mind made up. How can we compare anything when the other two haven't had their shows yet?

Asking for a list is just asking for trouble on GAF, that's all I'm saying. We all seen the same conference.
It's pretty obvious Sony will be showing AAA exclusives like God of War.

I mean I agree in principle nothing will be known for sure until after the other presentations but you don't have to be a genius to see Sony has a pretty easy job: showing decent exclusives and possibly cutting price of Pro would easily give them the win from a competitive perspective.

Anyone following games already announced from Sony can see what's coming.

Why are so many people assuming Metro is an exclusive? I don't recall hearing "exclusive" before the demo.

Also, Aaron Greenburg is such a hard person to like. I don't know why.

It was okay, but disappointing from a first party standpoint.

I'll probably pick up Cuphead and maybe Sea of Thieves.

Xbox One X is a somewhat confusing name. Hardware looks well-engineered but they didn't really sell it for the $499 price tag.

The multiplatform stuff was solid. Anthem looks interesting even if it's derivative of other games (and I don't trust Bioware to be up to part with the shooting). The Dragonball game looks fantastic. Tolkien's rolling over in his grave with Shadow of War, but that seems like a nice expansion of the first game. Like the new setting for AC.

Poor Sumo Digital. Crackdown 3 seems like it was a nightmare to develop. They are great dev but that game just looks so generic and downright ugly.

Anthem - Animation looked good, movement looked great, shooting looked mediocre, but honestly my biggest impression was how fake the demo looked. Fake co-op banter, fake looking exploration prompt, the initial environment looked CG... and it's 2018. So I suspect this will be a game that gets downgraded.

The whole deal remind me of The Division demo on it's presentation at E3

I was on board with the press conference till $499...

It's not that I wouldn't spend $499... I did for the XOne at launch.
I just don't think the masses will spend $499 on a new Xbox when the PS4 Pro is $399...

This is seriously making me reconsider a purchase... because if there's no one to play with on the system, what's the point?

I don't get it. All Xbox games are released for pc, so they are slowly merging these two platforms, effectively making the Xbox a cheap, not upgradeable gaming pc with none of the benefits of a pc. So if you have a pc, why would you get a Xbox? And if you want a console, why would you get a Xbox when it's basically "just" a pc? They are handing the console market to Sony and Nintendo.

That 2013 E3 really screwed up MS. Each year gets worse. Can someone actually tell me which of those games besides Cracjdown, state of Decay, Forza, Ori and sea of Thieves are console exclusives??

Seems they really have not learned it with the tomb raider fiasco. You would think they would put money on biggwr 1st party lineup but nope they continue to moneyhat times excl oh sorry I meant console launch exclusive

The only thing I saw at the conference I had to have was Anthem and its multiplat. I guess the new Ori is something I want too. And lol at four hundred and ninety nine US dollars.

How would there be no one to play with? There are like 30+ million xbones out there lol

I'm not sure how much GAFfers here expected a console with more power, water cooling and a smaller form factor to cost. $399 for all that seems a bit unrealistic.
