Admittedly when you zone it down to strictly new exclusives I can see how it's disappointing since only 2 (I think?) were shown. I'm just looking at the show as a whole. After the beginning there was little fluff. I'm excited for crackdown, Sea of Thieves, Ori, Forza 7,State of Decay 2, and Cuphead.

I game on PC so I'm trying to look at this objectively and this conference gave both Xbox and PC owners a reason to be happy IMO.

I don't want to zone it down scritcly to new exclusives. All I did was replying to a post saying "nice mix of exclusives, timed exclusives,"

I too am excited for Crackdown and Sea of Thieves. Since E3 2015 infact ...

Imo the worst MS conference of these last years.

I was excited to sell my PS4 for a Scorpio but with that price and those games? Nah. I'll keep it.

Sony E3 strategy, sign all major games on marketing deals. Let MS choke on stage.

This lol... When I saw Metro as an opener, I immediately think of COD opening all their show in the past. Too bad they couldn't afford to continue the time exclusivity.

Considering sony doesn't have much of a vested interest in the PC market space it's hard to imagine they'd be touting any sort of play anywhere type stuff.

They still have a lot of console exclusives, far more than MS even, just hope they cut that shit out or make it absolutely clear it's a PS4/PC game. And their actual exclusives are shouted from the rooftop.

Metro felt too scripted. I expected this gameplay back in last last gen, but this whole faux-dynamism destroys the presentation. If you're doing this in real time, that's another.

Their presentation was great. The games themselves were boring.

Only Metro and Anthem caught my attention.

Same here. I was 100% confident going into this i was gonna pre-order the One X,i jave never missed an Xbox system launch, but now im going on Amazon to find some PS4 Pro controllers that look like Xbox controllers. I'm definitely going to get a One X, may wait till after Xmas though and invest in a Playstation in the mean time. I REALLY want WipeOut and GOW coming in fall.

Really can't wait to see how Sony answers this. They've easily won E3 for years now, but this is going to be a tough one to beat.
Sony literally only needs to announce 1 big new title and an indie to match what MS showed as new. In terms of existing games showing again, Sony easily have the likes of Sea of Thieves, Cuphead and Crackdown covered

You guys saw that game called unruly heroes on the indie games montage? It looks so similar to rayman origins/legend visual wise and I'm looking all over the web and can't find anything on it

It's pretty obvious Sony will be showing AAA exclusives like God of War.

I mean I agree in principle nothing will be known for sure until after the other presentations but you don't have to be a genius to see Sony has a pretty easy job: showing decent exclusives and possibly cutting price of Pro would easily give them the win from a competitive perspective.

Anyone following games already announced from Sony can see what's coming.

You pick a game that was already shown to support your point? You realize how silly that is, right?

I fully expect Sony to put on a great show and am happy that they'll likely move from game to game, much like MS has done in this conference.

The showcase of games was very solid, even if a lot weren't actually exclusive.

Xbox One will obviously continue be competitive in the US, but I don't know if Xbox One X will really have a big impact. Especially at that price. The show wasn't bad, and Microsoft has enough diversity to appeal to the wider gaming audience.

It's just that the AAA first party really did nothing for me. The sad part is that they just didn't have much to show. The real bright spots were the release date for Cuphead, and the promising indies lineup.

This isn't enough to convert people who are already playing on PS4 or planning to purchase one.

It was presented very well, snappy announcements, little talking, lots of gameplay.

But the games just didn't impress me and the ones that did are either 3rd party or don't require a souped up Xbox One X to get the most out of them.

I am seriously considering PS4 after that conference and this is from someone who has been in the Xbox stable since the OG

I thought it was solid, they brought a heap of games, which they had to do. How many are real exclusives though?
I don’t know how anyone can complain about that presentation. Lots of interesting games.

Forza 7 looked really nice, as did Metro Exodus.
Deep Rock Galactic looked interesting.
I’m keen to see more about Darwin Project, The Last Night, Artful Escape, Tacoma and Code Vein.
Sea Of Thieves still looks great.
I'm still there on day one for Cuphead.
Crackdown 3 and Middle Earth Shadow of War both looked ok.
OG Xbox BC is coming - This is great news, I’ll definitely play PGR2, Panzer Dragoon Orta, Links, and JSRF.
Anthem looked pretty cool too.

I'm not sure how much GAFfers here expected a console with more power, water cooling and a smaller form factor to cost. $399 for all that seems a bit unrealistic.

Because the last console that launched at 499, failed horribly against the cheaper options, and people thought that no other company would do the same mistake again.

Metro was a nice surprise, and a lot of the smaller stuff like Ashen and Last Night look fantastic. SoT still looks fun.

Everything else was pretty meh.

What a huge investment in first party games Mr.Spencer! /s

Also $499 for Scorpio? Why? Paying $100-150 more than Pro to get more lines of resolution that can hardly be seen...good luck with that!

Wish all the PC people would stop hating, they didn't design the X1X for you, they designed it for those that don't have a gaming PC

I thought it was a great showing, got what I wanted out of it, was hoping for more exclusives but happy with Crackdown and SoT plus more. Ori looks amazing and absolutely loved the first one, and they've sold the message that the Xbox is the place to be for Third party games

I can see it now, Sony will show a load of CGI trailers which everyone will faint over which won't come out for years

I would rather be shown games that will come out in a reasonable amount of time like a year

Couple of things:

First of all, even if the xbo.x is for people without gaming computers, it has to compete with cheaper xbox and playstation consoles which limits its audience already.

In addition whilst the actual first party titles shown are pretty rad, all of them have been shown for years(I believe Crackdown was at the xbox launch so much for reasonable time) and will be available on all xbox family consoles which again discourages upgrading.

Third of all Ill take a cgi trailer as oppsed to were we are at first party wise with MS at the moment.

I was on board with the press conference till $499...

It's not that I wouldn't spend $499... I did for the XOne at launch.
I just don't think the masses will spend $499 on a new Xbox when the PS4 Pro is $399...

This is seriously making me reconsider a purchase... because if there's no one to play with on the system, what's the point?

Why would this have any impact on your decision to buy it? There are no X exclusive games.

oh and Life is Strange 2.

.

That was not Life is Strange 2, the one shown today is a prequel and is not even being made by the same developers that did the original one. Life is Strange 2 is going to be made by the same team that did the 1st one but thats not the one that appeared today.

How would there be no one to play with? There are like 30+ million xbones out there lol

That no one will be playing on...
Since those 30+ million were holding out for $399 Scorpio to finally get games at 1080p ...but instead after seeing this press conference will just shrug and give up, choosing instead to switch their 3rd party collection over to their OG PS4 or maybe an upgrade to a PS4 Pro.

Why would this have any impact on your decision to buy it? There are no X exclusive games.

Because I rarely play exclusive games anyway... Mostly all 3rd party experiences like Destiny, Mass Effect, Dark Souls, The Witcher, etc.

Conference Grade: C-

+ Metro Looked Great
+ OG Xbox BC
+ Anthem looked pretty cool

- Way too much time spent on certain games (Sea of Thieves and Mordor)
- Not a lot of showcases for the One X's power
- Not really any surprises or megatons
- No strong new exclusive outside of Forza
- $499 Price Point XbOX

Very underwhelming conference for me

OG Xbox 1, One S

MS does have cheaper options, what's the problem?

The games were indeed middling but that's for another discussion

With them (MS) deciding to go first with their press conference in front of Sony's i was expecting fire... instead this was more like when you light up a firecracker and run for cover but it just fizzles out and makes you feel silly... what where they thinking?

Seems you missed the point. People are critiquing lack of true exclusives. I just noted one (of a decent number) true AAA exclusive Sony can show. It doesn't matter it's already announced it's still more of a draw as an exclusive.

I thought it was an ok conference... the only part I really didn't like was there billion different ways of categorizing exclusivity.. it really rubs me the wrong way, and shows how weak of an actual exclusive lineup they have..

An underwhelming conference, only game that was fully exclusive and new was metro exodus and it looked great.

-forza 7 yawn
-sea of thieves yawn
-state of decay 2 yawn
-crackdown 3 (no cloud destruction) looked ok

-and a bunch of timed PC ports

Oh, okay. I didn't realize that's what everyone was going to do. You must have done a surveymonkey while I wasn't looking.

chubigans

y'all should be ashamed
Phil is getting battered on twitter and rightly so

"We're always listening and thank you for your constructive criticism, I'm taking this feedback to the Xbox team and we will strive to make Xbox even better in the months and years ahead."

just copy paste that phil, you're welcome.

I'll get a couple of positives out of the way:

+ I appreciate MS' commitment to BC and services.
+ I appreciate how they mostly showed gameplay.

But that's about as much as I can muster up.

- The Xbox One X is a system without a cause. There is no exclusive to justify its existence or its price.
- In general, for the last 5-6 years, it has become increasingly hard to care about investing in MS' ecosystem, when they are this bereft of first party game studios and talent. I don't feel like they are in this for the long haul. Even the One X feels like a last ditch effort to gather some attention towards a dying effort.
- The pacing of their shows are legitimately terrible and the games they choose for extended looks are often baffling. I don't know why Sea of Thieves needed something quite that long when most of what they showed was boring.
- The apparent downgrade to Crackdown 3 is disappointing. MS deserves a ton of shit for selling the power of the cloud and then backing down from that promise.
- Anthem looked fantastic visually, so at least they knew how to end it, though I'm skeptical if the final game is going to look that good.
- That "console launch exclusive" phraseology was shady.

All in all, MS feels like a company in retreat. They're firing what little arsenal they have, but it isn't enough.

Conference dragged for me and seemed a little lazy from Microsoft.

Getting like a multiplat show real or stuff we've seen before and no need to book a venue

Is there any way to get the stuff from the Mixpot if I didn't watch from Mixer or am I boned? Didn't realize they were giving out free stuff.

They showed in the stream in one of the banners that people shouldn't worry if they didn't get in, it would last the week or something like that instead.
