There were a lot of cool games announced, but nothing that was a system seller from the looks of it if you aren't already invested in MS's franchises. I mean there were at least 5 games I'm hyped for after this conference, but not particularly excited about the X at that high price (especially since you can play most of these on PC).

I was also either disappointed with or felt ambiguous about the discrepancy between the amazing way some games looked and the way they seemed to play. Like Anthem's environments looked INCREDIBLE, but then it just all felt a bit familiar when they got to the engagements. A mishmash of a number of popular games we already have...I dunno. It feels like a waste to have a world that beautiful and to just fly through it blowing shit up, loot this and unlock that, brofist your bros etc. Of course the trailer itself was emphasizing a shallow and disengaged playstyle, which didn't help. Same thing for Metro in that it just felt like survival FPS, but at least that had some suspense to it and maybe it has the potential for a good story, obviously not enough info.

A lot of the indie or AA games looked really incredible though, and even the pirate game seems like it would be fun.

They really need to drop the price though.

Not good enough to make me ditch PS. 7/10 show because Forza looked amazing, as did Ori. Anthem looks stunning and will still look awesome on Pro.

Welp, Minecraft texture pack and OG Xbox were the best things for me lol. Ori and Crackdown cool too, plus a couple of Indie games. The rest was meh.

Still have to get one I guess for COD and stuff I suppose, but can't say I'm hyped anymore.

Surely at some point Microsoft will learn their lesson?

This was a bland, inoffensive conference at best.

There were no real surprises, no unveils of exciting new AAA first party games, and no "one more thing" - it's like they don't understand how generating hype works. All they need to do is look at what Sony are doing.

And, you know, actually invest in a goddamn first party stable of studios that can churn out exclusives.

This is exactly why I ditched Xbox and got a gaming PC and PS4 Pro. Microsoft simply will not learn their lesson. They don't get it.

The Xbox Conference was pretty good. But there were some parts where I felt it dragged on for too long, like that Sea of Thieves demo. I do feel it was a missed opportunity for Microsoft to truly merge Xbox into the PC ecosystem, where every Xbox One game is a default PC game. Still, what they showed was pretty interesting. The real disapointing part was the lack of new first party games. Only Forza was new. It's a shame Microsoft isn't trying to ramp up first party support as much as they should.

i think they did what they set out to do, show a steady library, "re-invigorate" the xbox brand

even if you think $499 is a bridge too far it showed the xbone line isn't out of the game

That wasn't bad. Not a lot of things that made me go holy-shit-I-need, and the lack of first-party was definitely weak. Highlights for me were the DBZ trailer (though not exclusive, as were a lot of the games show) and OG Xbox compatibility. Dragged a bit but overall, it was all right.

7/10 for MS

They had a good format and pace. But far too much reliance on third party. They had no new MS ips to really show outside Ori. Was expecting more reasons to convince people to buy an Xbox that they didn't know about. Outside OG Xbox BC. There wasn't any.

Good conference IMO. 7/10.

They showed quite a few games and managed to get a lot of them exclusive, which ought to be great for the XB1 owners. Plus making Scorpio smaller than the XB1 S is a nice touch, as well as OG Xbox compatibility. That said I was hoping for something akin to Bioshock or Mass Effect last gen (ie a big AAA SP game) and the price for Scorpio seems high so I wonder how well it'll do. Will wait for hardware reviews to come out.

MS actually had a pretty decent conference to me. It's not a permanent reassurance, but this does felt a lot like MS addressing complaints about lack of quantity and diversity in their games. Super Lucky's Tale was my personal standout and a genuine surprise; its nice to see 3D platforms making a comeback, and it looked like a pretty good one. Also good to see Cuphead getting a release date too. And BC support for OG Xbox in the works is a definite plus.

This still leaves a lot of concerns regarding their first-party output, though. Forza 7, State of Decay 2, Sea of Thieves, Ori and the Willow of the Wisps, and Crackdown 3 were the only first-party games I could think of/recognize as games from their first-party studios, everything else was largely third-party or indie. And I don't see Xbox One X having a different outcome to the PS4 Pro--it will only be supported by a niche of consumers and developers interested in going the extra mile for high-end game presentation / meda support.

What free shit did we get from mixer?

We don't know yet, but should find out within the next week.

Edit: http://support.xbox.com/en-US/games/game-setup/Xbox-E3-MixPot-faq

What's in the MixPot?

The MixPot is full of digital goodness. The MixPot will be delivered in waves starting within 24 hours after the end of the briefing, and will include:

Rare Replay – full game download. Mature game – will not be awarded to accounts for users under 17.
Halo Wars 2 Kinsano Leader Pack (with special bonus of 3 Blitz Packs for Xbox One players)
Minecraft Redstone Specialists Skin Pack (for Minecraft: Xbox One Edition)
Halo Warthog in Forza Horizon 3 (unique vehicle not available in the in-game store)
HAWKEN – Starter Pack
No Time to Explain – full game download
The Final Station – full game download. Mature game – will not be awarded to accounts for users under 17.
Note The giveaways will not be awarded to accounts for users with family settings that block purchases.

They kept calling everything exclusive, when practically none of it was.

I took them as meaning "console exclusive" whenever we heard that.

This would have been a decent conference on any other year, but considering how much they hyped the Xbox One X (god what a stupid name), it was really underwhelming. I mean, out of 40 games, here are the ones that are ACTUALLY XB1/W10 exclusive:

Forza 7
Sea of Thieves
Cuphead
Crackdown 3
Ori and the Will of the Wisp

Five. And out of those only Forza really looks like it's doing something with the extra hardware.

Microsoft is also full-on pushing true 4K, which is a BIG mistake in my opinion, as it completely erases the performance advantage over the Pro - which it sorely needed considering it costs $100 more - with only a modest IQ improvement to show for it.

7/10 for realistically-thinking people, but if you bought into the Scorpio hype, it's a 4/10.

Really can't wait to see how Sony answers this. They've easily won E3 for years now, but this is going to be a tough one to beat.

Phil hasn't really been honest with people on Twitter over the last few months. He's gonna be working overtime.

Huh. That was pretty good. Miles better than I expected. Apart from the bit with the actual car. Way more interesting, colourful and stylised games than I expected from Microsoft.

I'll probably look into some of these 'launch exclusives' when they hit PS4, and anything else if I pick up a pre-owned Xbox One. I had very little interest in the Xbox One X before the conference, and at that price point it's dropped to zero.

+Some nice looking indies like The Last Night, Ashen, Cuphead and Ori.
+Code Vein looks nice for a Souls fix but I can't get passed the anime designs for the characters right now.
+Metro Exodus looks great but I don't believe that to be an actual representation of gameplay.
+Xbox Backwards Compatibility
+/- Anthem looks splendid in terms of visual design and atmosphere. But I'm not a huge fan of the genre, so it's a shame. If it's playable as a single player game and has dialogue options/choices, I'd reconsider.
+/- Sea of Thieves looks really good, especially the naval battle. But again, it's another shared world thing so interest is very low.
+/- Assassin's Creed looks really damn good. The gameplay showing itself was a downer though especially with the eagle-eye vision thing..
+/- Crackdown 3 looked like more Crackdown but even more vibrant. It's a good and bad thing I suppose.
-Xbox Scorpio, 499....
-State of Decay 2. I'm sure it has a fanbase, but spent way too much time on that game.

Whats happens if:

Sony drops PS4 Pro and PSVR to $350

PS4 to $249

Announces cross platform play

Backwards compatibility for PS1,PS2,PS3(I know...)

Releases a Pro Controller
All cherry on the top when they already have GOW, Spider-Man, Detroit etc to show off.

MS had a solid 8.5 conference. Lots of games which was great, but they are playable on PC so whats the point T_T

Yeah, not feeling it. I just couldn't take most of the games serious - same old, same old. A lot of cringe moments (Porsche, screaming commentator etc...really?!) and I'd say it is pretty sad for of conference where the focus was on 4k that the highlight of the show was the backwards compability feature.

This is my nightmare. Big giant open world. Fake coop banter. Tons of world to "explore." oh god i am drowning

"Hey, look. That looks like there might be something interesting over there."

"Ok, lets go and check it out."

"I hope we don't run in to any creatures out here."

"You said that last time and we both remember how that turned out."

"Hey, look out over there!"

"Thanks partner. It's so great having a friend to journey with out here in this vast open world."

"You can say that again."

*Thumbs up*

Yeah, that was sort of OK, the Scorpio games as pretty as was expecting.

I really wish they'd sort of their "exclusive" messaging though, so many of those games were announced with a voice saying "EXCLUSIVE" but after that labelling was shown on the screen which stated, "Launch Exclusive".

I'm surprised they don't seem to have learnt from the whole Tomb Raider thing.

The show was OK though.

Sincerely disappointing conference in general. They didn't show even one singleplayer, AAA game at all. Everything was coop or indie. Although a few of the indie games do look really interesting like Tacoma, cuphead, and that 2d guitar game.

It feels like they showed the same coop game but with a bunch of different skins.

I might be wrong about the year, but was it Nintendo in 2008? That will beat XB1 reveal easy.

I really can't ever see that shit show being topped... Between their focus on TV connectivity that no one gave a shit about, complete lack of compelling titles, and the nebulous 'cloud' power (not to mention all of the changes they made just prior to E3) it will always be the biggest clusterfuck of all time.

That was underwhelming. They go on about it being the most powerful console and then don't show any particular game to showcase that power. No wonder they wanted to keep Anthem for their conference.

Wow, tough crowd here ;p

Guess my expectations were low, but that's the kind of conference I want to see. Games, games, games, spaced with announcements and exclusives (plenty of launch exclusives, but still).

Soooo no Halo 5 4k update huh? Cant even save the MP from the shitty ass textures. Damn MS y'all killing me. Gears 4 update is lit, but are we getting 60FPS in campaign/horde or nah??

Nothing blew my socks off and made me want to buy an Xbox. Everything looks pretty though, I guess. The problem with these reveals, is that they left me thinking "Cool, I'll play this on my PC/PS4".

There's one problem you're missing, drop the price to 399 and the reaction would be the same. The problem is in no way whatsoever the scorpio power and pricepoint. The problem are the missing games for it whatever the power/price ratio is.

Christ at "saving" Ori and original Xbox games as a selling point.

Stayed off GAF throughout the entire show knowing in advance that it would just be getting shat on from high heaven. Logged in now and yup, I was right lol.

Many games shown and the only interesting ones were multiplatform imo. The conference itself felt packed but horribly paced. I feel like some games got far too much screen time. Overall I'd grade it "C"
