Monster Hunter XX Switch Trailer. August 25. Save Transfers. 3DS Cross Play. Bundle.

the focus is clearly on mhw, but you really think its not coming? they are going through the effort to retool the textures, and half of the localization is done by virtue of it being an expansion of mhx. the only way it doesnt get localized is if sony bought western exclusivity.

Yeah, this is what I'm thinking. I think it would be leaving money on the table for them not to bring it over. I think it'll get announced for the West on stream at some point, and I wouldn't be surprised if it was just a quick little announcement and not some big focus. Like, I get the feeling they'll play MH Stories on stream and then show a trailer for XX or something along those lines.

But if there's one thing I can count on, it's Capcom fucking up, so I wouldn't necessarily be surprised if I was wrong.

Based on their current NS output and the focus they're putting on Monster Hunter: World, I doubt very seriously that MH XX is coming to the west. The wouldn't want there to be any splitting of the fanbase at this point. Keep them all on the same game overseas makes the most sense.

The splitting is gonna happen either way though. Western MH fans are no strangers to importing.

Hopefully World is good so I can still play some MH games in English if Capcom decides to make the portable series Japan only.

Modest successes is putting it mildly. MH4U did 1.5m and Generations did 900k in the west.
With the gigantic install base of 3DS, right?
If Capcom were to worry about going into Switch in full force, then it must be because of unit production speed of the Switch itself.

A bit of an overreaction going on here. Even if it isn't shown at the Treehouse event I wouldn't totally count it out on coming over.

I think the potential sales in a worst case scenario would still justify localization costs and Capcom is a business after all.

And that might not have been enough for Capcom to care to bring Monster Hunter XX to the west for Switch.

Anyone else remember how Resident Evil Revelations 2 came to consoles and Vita but not the 3DS because its sales of the first game weren't great?

Well, there's no guarantee that the series will continue on the NS. We know where they're going in the near future, but after that it could go anywhere.

4U was the first Monster Hunter title to sell over 1m in the west, ever. And Generations nearly reached that milestone. So I don't think low sales are the culprit.

yeah they can release it on both 3ds and switch. should do decent numbers

I hear that burning your audience in the west is a great way to build your audience in the west!

It won't matter if folks migrate over as it's the only Monster Hunter they're gonna get. Honestly, I don't think this is gonna hurt them at all and at the end of the day they may well expand the audience like they've wanted.

They're not really starting on right foot. First a poor perception/first impression with a lackluster trailer, and now spiting your audience... to build your audience.

Only Capcom can come up with such infallible stupidity.

I guess I don't understand why this is a bad thing for them. It's bad for NS owners, for sure. I'm sure this is good for Sony and good for Capcom. They want in on that sweet HD market and dealing with the NS isn't really something they have to do in order go do that. It really doesn't matter what any NS owner thinks, because at the end of the day if they're fans of the series, they'll jump in on the PS4, XBO, PC version along with Japanese players. Do they really need to support the NS to sell a ton of copies of this game?

What I don't understand is why even bother with the NS version at all...even in Japan? Especially right now with Monster Hunter: Worlds relatively close. Unless the NS version is just some sort of cash grab until the "main game" comes out next year.

I've been playing all the Monster Hunter games since Tri and I'm not buying a PS4 or Xbox to play one game. It's probably my favorite franchise but I don't have the money to just go and buy a PS4 for one game. No portable Monster Hunter is going to suck ass.

Imagine how people didn't have Wiis or 3DSs felt.

Getting two Monster Hunters on "proper" consoles that close to one another sounded too good to be true.

Shit.

.

Because the fans already know the title exists, but are being denied it not for any reason other than "please buy this other one". That's just bad optics. Especially for an aware and active an audience as MH.

For the second, hedging their bets. The Switch XX port has a real possibility of out selling World in Japan.

I'm not re-subbing to Gold, and the PC release date is still TBD. Looks like is a unitl-heavily-discounted Steam purchase for me.

I seriously doubt 900k-1.5m in the west isn't enough to justify continued localization. Most of Capcom's games on PS4 and Xbox One sell less than that.

More likely if XX is being skipped it's for strategic reasons.

Yeah, I know. But it's somewhat cumbersome and I'm not quite sure how and if proper online play would be possible. And without online multiplayer, my interest in that version would take a very serious hit.

Presumably the Japanese copy would still connect to the Japanese servers no matter where you are in the world. But the latency is guaranteed to be pretty bad if you live far from Japan.

That's some fucking shit. Who would've seen that coming, tbh? Hopefully Capcom comes back around later into the generation.

Sucks. Like I said. I bought Gen because I knew the G version was gonna happen. Them skipping the localization to push World sours me on the whole thing.

can we stop with the definitive statements unless you've got an actual source?

Dude from the other thread is not lying. Unless Nintendo steps in (they wont) this isn't being localized

So, no Western release for this?

Never has a western release of Monster Hunter on a Nintendo console been announced at E3.
Also E3 isn't over yet.

Since we got Metroid Samus Returns for 3DS announced at the Treehouse there might a chance (albeit a very slim one) that MHXX may be announced there too over the next few days.
I'm not saying it's happening but I'm very sure that an announcement of a western MHXX release will come sooner rather than later.

If MHW sells as good as a Souls Game in the west (and that's a big if), it will still be a steep decline for the series unless the PS4 starts doing serious numbers in Japan.

No it isn't. There are currently no plans to do so at Capcom so don't get your hopes up. Or just hope that Nintendo steps in.

So, unless Nintendo decides to localize and publish it themselves, it's unlikely to ever leave Japan. I mean, unless you want to import it or download the Japanese version from the eShop.

It's hard to believe they may stop porting real mh games to the west. As a regular player, it sucks soooooooo bad.

Probably done with Capcom generally speaking if they really make this move. Do they really expect people to buy the other one just because "it's all you got, bwahah"?

Man, I like the game so much. :(

Since it's looking more and more likely that we aren't going to see MHXX localized.. can anyone who has previously imported and played a MH game comment on how difficult it is with regards to the language barrier?
