Capcom sure is having a rough E3

Lack of a western port of MHXX is confusing. Lack of a switch version of Worlds is weird. It's not a great looking game by any means.

MVC:I looked meh before E3, but after DBZ it looks plain and boring.

No sign of REmake 2.

SFV is still poorly regarded.

No sign of DMC5. No sign of anything Resident Evil related.

MHW seems to be relatively well liked the thing here is their fuck up /mishandling with the "no localization of MHXX" which has angered a lot of people (Which is fair, it's shit when games don't get localized and especially when parts of it already is localized because of stuff like MH generations)

I was talking about this with some of my friends. Overall this E3 seems like the most negative in years. Surprises aren't what make E3 for me personally, it's the showing of games we haven't seem much of even if we know about them or not.

As for hearing about MHW being for a casual audience and MVCI being so ugly it's unplayable I ignore it. My joke about the whole thing is that Sony broke the Bloodpact contract to get Monster Hunter on PS4 and Xbox so sacrifices had to be made. Marvel taking a hit budget wise for MHW lol

I think MH World has generally seen a positive reception.

It's not a HUGE reception, mind you. Monster Hunter is never going to be a massive game in the west, despite Capcom's efforts.

People want new games but don't want them to be different.

Yeah but they cant be worse than the previous games. MVC3 looks better than MvCi.

You people seems to have an obsession on different or unnecessary changes just because. Kind of how people can be obssesed with new IP although theres 100 of similar games but just NEED a new ip of walking zombie simulator 65

Its actually annoying that nearly every comment on videos for dragonball fighterz is trashing marvel. It's a shame that it looks as bland as it does (visually). I think a lot people won't even give the gameplay a chance now because they're just enjoying shitting on it...Its already headed down the sfv road. Not saying sf doesn't deserve backlash, but even when good things come out for it people will trash it just because.

Monster Hunter World is the most I've been interested in the series in years, which means it must be doing something right.

I am not an expert, but even Japan seems to be excited for MH World? MvC always looked bad to me.

It'll be telling which sells better in Japan, XX or World. The negativity on gaf is overblown but I'd bet money that Capcom is nervous about this decision.

The reactions to Monster Hunter: World were pretty negative when it was revealed but its getting more positive as more news and information comes out. I've made peace with it at this point despite some reservations.

Regarding Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite, Capcom really needs a good kick in the ass when it comes to their fighting games. While every other developer is refining their offerings and showing off content and features that appeal to casual and hardcore players, Capcom continues to make decisions that deter newcomers and baffle everyone else. Capcom needs to feel the pressure because it's unacceptable to release another product like Street Fighter V while Tekken 7, Injustice 2, Guilty Gear Xrd Rev 2 and King of Fighters XIV are out and Dragon Ball FighterZ and whatever else these developers are making are on the horizon. The competition is hotter than its ever been.

People don't hate Capcom because it's "cool to hate Capcom". When they make amazing product like RE7 they get universal praise. And deservingly so.

Dont know whats should be wrong with MHW

and the most hardcore fans of MH are in Japan as far as my japanese goes most guys over there find it cool

I think MVCi will be fine after it releases. I had a really great time playing it on the show floor and I was hating on it hard. The art is just really off putting everywhere except during gameplay it looks really good sometimes. DBZ made it easier to hate on MVCi. But just wait for Arcsys to screw everyone over with a $40 revision just under a year after release. Monster Hunter just looks really damn generic.

The Monster Hunter World thing is purely an issue of betrayalton in regards to how they seem to want to block XX Switch's western release now, abetted by the 4chan rumor that Sony is forcing them not to (which has credence now since the 4chan rumor seemed to get everything else right).

So you're getting a lot of MH fans who have gotten used to the franchise being on Nintendo systems who are getting kind of mad, especially as those are the more hardcore western MH fans who take a dim view of attempts at "modernizing" the franchise, and are thus suspicious of MH World as such, although World itself looks pretty cool so far.

I have no idea what's going on with MVCI. Could somebody explain it?

I think MHW looks pretty good, great evem, I'm just not very optimistic about its success in the West and likely won't play it due to me rarely putting 50+ hours into console games. Capcom's just done a shitty job all around in regards to pleasing the Western fans who want portable MH, it's a very risky move to say the least.

I don't care for fighters but yeah, MvCI looks incredibly rough. Compared to what I've seen of Injustice 2 or even SFV it looks positively budget. Dragonball Fighter Z seems to be blowing it out of the water.

I'm genuinely excited for World but terribly disappointed they are being so cagey about XX Switch. First time I held the switch I thought "my god I can't wait to play MH on this". Then they actually announced it. I was certain it would be announced here. And now... this.

So for now all I know is I'll be playing MHW. Eventually, becasue I'm gonna play it on PC. So... yeah excited but also kinda reserved.

You forgot how people are also roasting Capcom for Mega Man Legacy Collection 2 not coming to the Switch (at least currently). People are pretty peeved at them for that too.

And Disney Afternoon Collection

And their 'USF2 is a test but not really' comment that brought up bad memories before they announced the MHXX port in Capcom to shut people up. Now we're back to square one on that.

Like SFV and MVC:I, MH:W's reception is going to get worse before release. They'll drop their DLC plans as well as features/plans that tick old fans off even further, as well as potential buyers.

Didn't think I'd see the day when a DBZ fighting game would steal MvC's thunder.

MvC had no thunder to begin with. It looks bad. I'm not even a huge fan of the series but I've enjoyed it and it looks bad. That art style is rough and to me 2/3 both were beautiful games. The game just feels uninspired, just like SF V.

Monster Hunter World will undoubtedly make the franchise bigger than ever as long as it's at least a 8/10 game.

Stop.

For sure! I loved RE7 and was devestated when I heard it didn't reach their expectations in terms of sales.

It seemed like MHW reaction was mostly bad when it was just the trailer but the more new information poured in the more it seemed it was not this "westernized" devil stealing the heart of a franchise. IDK that was my perception of the reaction as an outsider to that fan-base and a lurker in those threads. There are still doubts expressed, but not nearly as dominant as they were.

Most of the crisis there is surrounding MHXX and the future of MH on portable systems (notably, just Switch atm, so also the future of MH on Nintendo systems), especially in the west. Also of concern is "just how dumb is Capcom?"

There's also a "future of more traditional MHs question" but it isn't as pointed as it was when people just had the E3 trailer.

EDIT:

What's disappointing to me is I wanted to see some DS-like Switch support. Ace Attorney, Ghost Trick--that sort of thing.

Hmm don't really feel strongly negative towards MvC. The story mode with it's weird cutscenes and loading screens very frequently is a bit of a concern, (And I wish the demo had some tutorial section), but I feel DBFighterZ and MvC are aiming for different things really, definitely in graphics anyway, so don't really care to compare them.

MH world however is something I'm less excited for. Just feels they took way too long to finally look at putting MH on console and now they're doing it, the result doesn't look that great and seems like they invested minimum effort in doing it. Feels that's why they stuck with 3DS, as they didn't have to advance tech much and would still stand out graphically from other games on that system.
I think Capcom too haven't really...jumped into this gen either. SFV and RE7 feels like that's it from them so far. Deep Down too I have no idea what's happened with that. Just seems they're not fully invested in this gen yet and simply haven't seen enough of them.

Don't really care for MHXX personally, but feels a dumb move, very similar to AAI2 and Great Ace Attorney 1/2 they don't care localising.

Pie and Beans

Look for me on the local news, I'll be the guy arrested for trying to burn down a Nintendo exec's house.
MvsC looks like shit, sure, but I'm very excited for Monster Hunter World. Theres just a lot of loud minority console warrior salt being spread around.

They seem to have done well with MHW. After the initial mixed reactions to the trailer, information and impressions that have come out since seem to have pushed most into the positive camp. Otherwise though I would agree about MHXX and MvCI.

Been a rough time for them over the last several years. Lots of bombs, games missing sales expectations, an entire graphics engine appears to have been scrapped, etc.

Well, with this e3 capcom made a lot of negative advertising to himself.. i hope they will find a way to fix evertything with the time

As someone who's paid no attention to MH ever, I thought it looked cool. I might pick it up if reviews seem good.

MVC is just sad. Compared to the competition, I don't know why I would pick this up over them.

Sad for no REmake 2 trailer or tease.

MVC looks like a phone game visually and they've continued to dumb the gameplay down to try to attract new fans. (They won't bring anyone new in because the game looks like absolute garbage.) I have zero faith left in Capcom's ability to make a good fighting game. As for MH, it would be a real shame if the switch MH doesn't get ported over here, especially if MHW is a huge departure for the series. RE7 was neat but Capcom just isn't what it used to be and I doubt it ever will be again.

MVCi both marketing and graphics are terrible, if they give some freedom to Combofiend to take various demos of MVCi to pros like they did with Seth Killian on MvC3, this could have people going a little less rough on the rant for the ugly models for some characters, and would have more people speaking about the gameplay outside just the FGC.

Capcom has learned some of the mistakes taken with SFV, but definitively they need to go back to what worked for them specially on marketing for vs series.

Now on the graphics side, they can just copy paste some other models since the characters having the most serious problems are from Capcom side, even returning ones, and that's why also no one can forgive them for what they did to the Chun Li model used for this game.

One game is aiming for graphics that look amazing and the other is aiming for mediocre graphics? MvC3 already looks better than MvC:I does.

They're both dynamic, explosive, team-based fighters on a 2D plane. They're pretty close in terms of what they're going for, really. Which begets the comparisons.

Hyped for MH World.
Feels like a ton of projecting on part of GAF as a whole regarding any thread about it, the issue ends up being more about lack of porting than World itself half the time. MvC is definitely something else all together though.

MHW seems to be looking fine.

MvCI was a huge miss from the beginning. DBFZ coming from out of nowhere just makes it hard to be excited for it now

Characters could look better for sure but no X-Men kill it for me. They shouldn't have even bothered until they can secure the X-Men rights. Alternatively, I'd prefer that someone just made an X-Men fighting game. Maybe 2 v 2 (Like MK9) with four player multiplayer.

This, i played the demo and the character selection is terrible.

Nintendo fans were always going to be pissed off by the MH situation. Capcom spent the last few years crowing about all the growth the series was seeing thanks to Nintendo and the 3DS entries in the west then immediately throws them under the bus to chase those big AAA dollars they were so desperate for last gen.

MVC:I is Capcom just refusing to learn from their mistakes and they deserve what they get at this point. The gameplay is looking good from the e3 floor but they needed more than that.especially in the face of what every other fighting game developer is doing.

Did we even get any decent SFV news? All I saw were a couple more overpriced costumes.

Have they talked about Resident Evil at all? or anything else for that matter?

The reactions to World have been getting more and more positive as more info comes out. It just had a really bad trailer.

MvC:I and them not localizing XX are definitely bad though.

As a non-MH fan, World looked great. I don't really pay attention to Switch stuff outside of Nintendo first party.

MvCi has been overshadowed by Dragonball Fighterz hype. That and the reaction to it seemed pretty tepid in the first place. The aesthetic style is just ugly to me personally.

Street Fighter V stuff is likely being saved for Capcom Cup. If there is going to be a SSFV it'll likely be revealed at PSX (assuming that's where Capcom Cup is again this year).
