So how bad is the Switch stock situation?

I found a nice "offer" for 300EUR (also sufficient stock finally) and after what I saw in E3 I think there is no point in waiting for much longer. I have a few questions though.

1) Can I tell somehow from the console's box whether this will be a recent or a launch model?
2) Have the joycon connectivity issues been fixed in newer batches?
3) I haven't been following this much but some people were complaining that the console's wifi reception is really weak/bad. Is this a widespread issue? Is it something that has also been fixed by now?

US.

GAF is too US focused, guys.

In Europe, outside of UK and Fr, there is no shortage (Italy here).

I mean, literally no shortage of units

New big lots will arrive in US, maybe next year.

For now, resist the pain... or buy it from Europe.

So, Europe are three countries now.
Spain is dry of Switches too

Yes, but I don't have to pay it all back on one lump sum, so it helps out a lot that I got it like this.
Ah, so it's the word "technically" you don't understand.

Didn't realize how lucky I was to walk into a GameStop the day this came out and get one. Blows my mind that people who want one can't find it.

I have a system already, but check whenever I go to Target out of curiosity. This last Wednesday they had 2 neon systems in the case about 3 pm (Fresno).
That's the first time I've seen them available in a store since launch week.

If you're not going to pay it back in one lump sum, you're going to be paying more for it because of interest. The interest isn't good. Why would you pay more for it than you need to?

Oh man the Amazon sellers are selling it for over 400. Any idea when Amazon fulfilled Switch will come in stock?
I'd like to know that too! I was hoping that with the Arms launch they'd restock like it happened when MK8 launched but it didn't happen! This is ridiculously incompetent.

I've never seen a single Switch in stock at local retailers in my area since launch. I have seen them available online two or three times on places like Best Buy or Gamestop (and that's just cuz GAF called it to my attention.)

Best buy near me didn't have arms out for some reason and didn't have yellow joy cons out either.

They looked in the back and had to put the game out. They couldn't find any joy cons even though there website said they had them in stock

I should have just bought it online and did the in store pick up but it would take 1 hour to get ready and by that time the store would be closed. I got out of work at 7 something

Went online bought it at a different Best Buy lol

Netherlands is slowly getting supply in stores. I see Neon in a number of places now. They'll likely sell out during the week, but it's not really difficult to get one. Grey has to wait until July.

Norway seems to be wellstocked online now, and a couple of weeks back I finally saw Switches on a shelf; 17 in a department store. Two days later, down to 12.

Then again, when Switches go from 348€/$389 to 480€/$539...

I've never not seen them in stock where I live in Australia. Every shop has them available.

I can back that up, walked into an EB Games store and bought a Neon Switch right off the shelf a couple of days ago (The Mario / Rabbids reveal got me hyped for the console finally).

It was even bundled with two Amiibo figures that you could choose from, so I got the Zero Suit Samus and Dr Mario bundle.

In New Jersey, I've not seen one outside launch day. I don't frequent stores but take a look every two weeks or so while out.

Europe is ONE country actually. You can buy the switch from any online store at the same price with no additional expedition cost. Just go on amazon.it/fr/de etc and buy it.

No it isn't 😂 Europe is a continent made up of many individually run countries. Just because Amazon will ship to multiple countries doesn't make it one country.

just found one in target on Friday in Bridgewater ( they restocked with the launch of Arms?). I'm guessing best times to check is whenever the ad shows the console or when a new game comes out

So after E3, I have decided I am NOT going to wait a year or two to get a switch, even though that was my original plan.

Arms, to my surprise, looks amazing, and mario kart with the wheel attachment could be fun to re-visit. The Metroid announcement sealed it for me.

MY PROBLEM: I bought Zelda Wii U and just beat it the other day. I have visited almost every secret location in the game, and I must have about 90% of the shrines done. But since I am moving over to switch, I need to sell my Wii U, and I will lose the hours I have sunk into the game.

Is there any possible way to not have to completely restart the game for the new DLC? Since the switch stock situation is still bad, I was thinking of buying a used switch from someone who has beaten Zelda, since that will be the cheaper option anyway, but I also worry about some of the connection issues with some of the launch units so I could end up with one of those.

any thoughts?

You drop whatever you're doing right now and contact your school geography teacher and apologise this instant.

Yes, it's just 75 € more expensive than the normal price:

Hm, I never saw one in any store. :/ Either in Cologne, Dortmund or Düsseldorf.

But to stop this bullshit on jump of this train...in the end in doesnt matter. The console is doing fine and that is important necause it means we get more games.

Saw two Neon in the Saturn Schildergasse in Cologne yesterday. Bunch of pro controllers too.

Holy shit, what a morning.

Last night on iStock I saw the nearby Target stock some units, so I wanted to try the early morning.

I show up before they opened, and there's one lady already there. Okay, no big deal. Turns out she had a friend wandering around the shopping center, though, so that's two.

Another guy shows up, still another half hour to go before opening. He looks like he could be a GAFfer, just there trying to get one like me. I hope they have them...

Then the original lady is joined by FOUR more people, all of them trying to gently assert themselves ahead of us in this non existent line. I'm like 99% sure this is a group of scalpers.

So the doors open and we calmly make a dash for the electronics counter. As I cut through the children's section to get ahead, I see someone in the corner of my eye Anime Running down the central path, so we all start running.

I made it to the counter first, but ended up fourth in line after we found where to actually line up. I've never had to make a Black Friday style mad dash like that, not even for a launch PS2. And the scalpers are definitely out there, getting most of the stock in this case.

"calmly make a dash" 😂 sounds like something us british would do.

Scalpers really are the worst, assuming that's what they were.

I assume they're scalpers because it was a group of 6 people, all middle aged, all of them together. Possibly tourists, but intending to resell anyway (or working for someone who will). Definitely not a hardcore crowd of gamers wanting a Switch after that promising E3.

Yeah, I definitely would not have let four people get ahead of me in line. If you weren't there when I got there, then you're getting behind me in line.

Picturing this situation in my head is hilarious.

Damn I got confused. $299 is real price haha.

So anyone ordering from Gamestop? Awful bundles though.
I'd rather pay extra 100 on Amazon than give money to gamestop with their shitty bundling policy. In store they literally say that nintendo won't have any units for four months so it's great idea to buy those bundles...
