Lego-GAF.

My girlfriend bought me the Millenium Falcon lego set for my birthday. I've been thinking about getting into some Lego things for a little while and I so happy the build the Falcon. However, has she opened a can of worms? Is this a slipper slope to obsession??

No one knows that when the sun goes down the man dresses up as a bat and fights...crime? Angry dinosaurs?

Yeah it's already too late.

Welcome to the club. RIP your disposable income.

Any suggestions for a 6-years old boy that may not have a lot of patience for larger sets? I'm somehow lost between easy-to-build sets and normal ~20-30€ sets, not able to set on something.

I feel nothing.
I don't either, but that makes me want build a Great Fox with small airwings...

Yes... Open the box, and your wallet is dead. If you want to survive, run now...

But no, open it, enjoy it, and visit here often so that there's plently other things you'll want ;) The community is great, but taxing on the wallet.

Haha, thanks. I'm really excited to do it. I've subbed. Looking to do this in the next week or so while watching a Star Wars movie.

I like the industrial look of the plumbing pipes(?) used for the supports for your shelves. Did you think of that yourself?

No, can't take full credit. I saw black pipe used on a different type of shelving once at a hotel. IIRC it was a towel rack or something similar. The way I used the pipe though was something I thought of.

Industrial look is what I'm going for in my man cave. I used conduit elsewhere for light switches and some network cabling. The ceiling is corrugated steel with recessed lights.

Just a heads up to anyone who wanted the tote bag from the online store. You actually need to enter a coupon code "JUNE" to get the bag. I think this is the first time I've seen a free item only available with a code. I bought the Minecraft Mountain Cave and forgot to enter the code :(.

If you email them or call I'm almost positive they will fix that.

Finally tackled some of my backlog. I made some custom shelves and built 5 of these UCS sets in the last 2 months. It's been so tough having the SSD in the box the last few years. A few were already assembled and collecting dust in storage. I think the only thing missing is some led lighting. Any suggestions for good lighting kits?

Holy crap. Got more pics? 480x640 pixels aren't enough for such a setup lol

Just a heads up that there's a new Batgirl fig, and I think it has a unique head. It's packed in with the Lego Batman Movie Blu-ray set at Target.

It's 30612.

Dealz - meatspace LEGO Store in Manchester had a bunch of stuff on offer at Internet-ish prices that's not included in the current website sale. I picked up the Corner Deli for £19.59 (well I had to reward the staff for helping me feel out the minifigure I wanted :p).

Tesco apparently has Brickheadz on a two for £15 deal nationwide until early August.

Built the 3in1 Turbo Track Racer at the weekend. Great little set, it's like 2/3rds of one of the expert vehicles.

Unexpected Father's Day present: my kids picked out, without my input, the constraction Speeder Bike! My seven year old daughter said "I knew you didn't have this one and I thought he looked cool." I was very surprised.

Also, shout out to oneknightr for making me an offer I couldn't refuse on... well I'll post pictures when it's finished :)

Happy belated Father's Day! You've got a sweet and smart daughter there. That set is on my buy list.

You're very welcome. I have to thank you as well as you've cleared up some display space for me. ;) Looking forward to the pics. I hope you and your kids enjoy building it!

I never bought mixed Lego in a large amount.
Is 30$ for a garbage bag (35l) filled with Lego a steal or not?

I bought a tub of legos for $26 and it was a mistake, pieces smell like shit, saw bug eggs
Found a Lamborghini set and a Star Wars shuttle set and lots of pieces
If you have patience and lots of time, tubs are worth it

Saw 6 tubs for $20 each and passed but bought one for $15 because it had a built arkham asylum in it

I went to a marketplace and some guy wanted me to pay $600 for a few tubs of Lego with maybe some Belville stuff, random yellowed castle parts and a cruising ship. The popularity of Lego has driven people crazy.

I remember this phenomenon with games after the "nostalgia" wave hit. A guy wanted £40 for Smash Bro's Wii at a boot sale (flea market). I wonder if it'll pass for Lego, or whether it'll only get worse?

Well, this lady is selling those bags for 30$ each and there are 15 in total. I think i'm just gonna try my luck and grab one or two.
Will report back with hopefully some good finds.

Noooo. I managed to get a Blue Express for £1.25 but now I realise that if I'd bought three I could have made the l'il train superbuild. Oh well.

Unfair comparison question of the day:

Parisian Restaurant or Saturn V?

Because when double points roll around again, I'll probably get one of the two.

good luck finding the Saturn V

I got one for Billy months ago. It's nestled safely under our Christmas Tree.

Seriously though Ideas sets are a tough call on availability and popularity coupled with not really knowing how large of a production wave TLG is going to make. I for sure thought Yellow Submarine was going to be sold out for months and be super hot. It was readily available and discounted within a month. I'm assuming some factors like the size of the Saturn V set is maybe giving it less of a supply run. Still though its going to be interesting to see if its another Mars Rover situation and how many production runs they will actually do. Either way if you see it available anywhere pick the damn thing up if you want it regardless of double vip to avoid any regrets.

Thought it was still backordered as opposed to just unavailable at the time I made the post.

Last time I went to the store with the intention of buying Parisian Restaurant and it was out of stock, so the universe just tells me what to buy based on what's in stock now apparently.

If you want a set and it's dipping in and out of stock, get it as soon as possible! 2X VIP is only another 5% off another order, it's worth even less than a straight 5% off. That's nothing compared to the inflated prices you'll have to pay when it retires.
