PlayStation VR Thread 2: Reloaded

Dayum! Who'da thought Bethesda would be one of the ones with (arguably) the best VR support?

Doom
Fallout 4
Skyrim

And they're bringing Skyrim to Switch (not VR, I know, but a sign that they're open to new platforms and experiments).

The cynical view would be that they're just milking existing games, I guess - as opposed to Ubi doing smaller but original VR games. I'm still pleasantly surprised, though. We need more big devs and pubs pushing VR and especially long-form content like this.

Don't get me wrong - I'm not knocking all the great indies putting in work, but it's the higher profile stuff that will continue sell hardware, and I think that's what we need to make VR a longer term proposition.

And now I just realised how much I want Dishonored in VR. Imagine exploring Dunwall...

I'm not the biggest fan of Bethesda but their games do play well into the role playing aspect of VR in a way that not many other developers can. I'm certainly getting Skyrim VR and Doom VFR. I'd love Dishonored in VR, the abilities would work flawlessly especially blink and possession, the level design and art style is also fantastic for VR.

Also The Assembly for £7.99 (PS+). Can't resist at that price.

Is it any good? I see the reviews are quite bad...also seems to be nausea inducing

Just going to suggest something, thats usually missing from recommendations: Harmonix VR Easel mode if you have a knack for creativity. Try the demo on the download demo disc thing.

For sales: Tethered is finally on a great sale, that you might want to snatch up.

Thanks man, will do

Ok so after playing RE7 with a friend on his VR and loving it I finally caved and bought a PSVR bundle with the camera and Worlds from a retailer that had a no VAT day this saturday, for 330€....

Looking for some hidden gems out there (not interested on MP) Have to say I got really sick on the X-Wing experience, a bit queasy with RE but that git better fast, same with Farpoint. I played the Rez demo and also hot kinda sick at the end..

I really wanna but Farpoint+ Aim controller but totally out of stock atm over here (Spain)...any info on that?

Also, how have the sales been? Not many things discounted atm.

Atm planning on getting Batman and Rush of Blood.

Statik, easily the most well produced VR game yet. Tethered is pretty cool and on discount but it gets repetitive in the later stages. There's way too many great small titles, even Fruit Ninja is awesome. Headmaster is also pretty fun. Holoball if you are looking for a fun ball hitting game, although SPARC should be much better, coming soon. Korix (haven't played it) also universally loved, heard it's pretty good.
As for shooter, Dick Wilde, Mortal Blitz, VR Invaders, you won't go wrong with any of those.

I'm thinking of getting Windlands after reading this. Also Bethesda seriously needs to see this. Move support with full locomotion, fast paced gameplay.

Hey folks,

I'll be looking to pick up a PSVR soon. I did have one question though... how does it fair with glasses wearers?

Also, in hot weather, can the screen steam up if you over-exert yourself?

also Job Simulator if you have the room

how is Battlezone btw?

Vomit inducing.
I kinda wish the game has non-vr support, the game is pretty cool with the rogue-lite elements. You progress through hexagons and randomly generated events will happen. Some mission will be escort the tank, some will be breach the gate or kill certain boss. And some of them are choices tree, whether to rescue them or ignore them, you will get bonuses or get attacked. Some are shops and you get to upgrade/buy different weapons.
Great great great game, but no headtracking shooting and image clarity is not as good as I hoped for, especially since the graphic looks simplistic. Usually these low poly game has high clarity visual in VR.

PSVR is easily the most glass-friendly headset, I use it with my glasses all the time. Some people suggest a lens protection/a piece of plastic to prevent glasses from scratching the lens but I don't use any of those stuff.
As for hot weather, it's easy to push the screen part of the headset in and out, allowing air circulation, which will prevent the screen from steaming up.

Thanks for the info, will definitelly check them out

Its alright. Its fun to mess about in the different tanks and the gameplay is engaging but I personally found the structure a bit limited but that is more of it not suiting the sort of gameplay loops that make me want to replay games like that. I find the short campaigns the perfect length but with little replay value for me makes it fall a bit flat. If you are the sort of person that will get into its structure you will have a blast.

So finally played Windlands with move and its...lacking. It's fun no doubt but all the advanced techniques I taught myself for bungeeing the rope are now null and void because I guess theres not enough buttons. Forget strafing I want to use my cords the way they're supposed to arghhh

I'm excited to pick one up.

So there is still no decent Table Tennis\Ping Pong game for PSVR? :(
Friend of mine got a headset and we played Sports Bar VR online...what a blast lol. You can spawn paddles and a ball but unfortunately it's almost useless.

Milked or not, these are big announcements for VR. There's lots of existing games that can be reinvigorated with a coat of VR paint, on top of built-from-the ground-up experiences.

Any word on more Zen pinball tables coming, specifically the Star Wars and Marvel stuff?

I can't find the source right now, but I believe I checked for the same thing a week or two ago and discovered a statement that they are not currently working on new tables for the VR version. I really enjoy the game on the Rift, but I'd love to see more tables myself.

Ahhh that sucks, hopefully that changes soon. The walking dead table was pretty good and I'd definitely love for the earlier mentioned properties to get the same treatment.

I'm catching up with the thread from the E3 announcements forward...I wanted to say that those announcements combined with the pricedrop are what made me pull the trigger.

Also after doing it and talking about it at work and with friends found out that 2 more guys also bought it this last weekend, mainly because of the price drop...so mb we'll see a surge in sells

I just ordered one due to the sale yesterday. Should have it tomorrow, just have to figure out what games I want. I'm very interested in the aim controller, how bad has availability been? Do they come back in stock often?

For me its EVE Valkyrie. It has the most active community. The difference in skill between players can be frustrating at times especially when you come up against a full crew. even if you get unlucky and get a bot match by the end there will be people and the next round will have more. There are three main match types Carrier Assault: you have to gain control of two points on a map by deploying drones then you have to attack the other teams carrier by taking out the nodes, when they are destroyed you then have to destroy the core (my favourite mode). Team Deathmatch: Self explanatory. Control: Try capture three points on the map whilst taking out the other team. Then there is Wormholes which is a timed event where the rules are unique for a set period of time.

There is single player in the game but it is really just there to ease people into the gameplay mechanics before jumping into multiplayer which can be very hectic. Sometimes I just go on the Scout mode where there is just some collectables to pick up. I really want a proper single player space VR game.

If the posts in this thread represent the status quo, it's very difficult to find the Farpoint bundle or the Aim controller separately. There was a poster who lives in Puerto Rico (I think?) who posted pics of stacks of the bundle in his local stores. Might be worth finding that post and shooting them a PM if you want it.

Wait, there was a sale for the PSVR unit? Is it over already?

I thought that I was good without anything to protect my lenses and then my friend came by for the weekend with his glasses. I now have small but noticeable scratches on each of my lenses. My heart sank when I realized it after he left. Biggest piece of advice is to make sure anyone wearing glasses doesn't bring the lenses too close to their face and that they use two hands when taking the headset off.

Damnit im gonna cry. Lol.

I don't know if you live in the states, but Best Buy has a deal up where you get the Core bundle, a free PS Camera and a downloadable copy of GNOG (VR game by Double Fine). It's $399. That's a decent deal given that the camera alone is $60 normally.

I do! Ill look into this! Thanks!

thanks for the info, although at $49, it's a bit expensive I think, might get it when I have my $15 from the promo

Normally I would get a much better image quality by saving an anim-PNG and converting that to GIF, but somehow that adds erroneous artefacts in this case. :(

There's a ping pong game called ping pong vr. It's pretty well made and tracks well.

I wear glasses with mine and it's fine. I find it's cold weather that makes the lenses steam up, when the lenses are cooler than your head. It clears in a minute or so once the temperature balances.

The game itself is easy to find, but how can you play the game without the accessory if the bundle has sold out and they don't sell the accessory by itself ? Just stupid

I mean technically, you can play it without the AIM accessory, it does support DS4 only, but you shouldn't play it that way. But yeah, would be nice if AIM was sold separately. I am sure that will happen eventually, once more games that support it are out.

I'm still debating if my first Arizona Sunshine playthrough should be Move or Aim. Kind of want to try out Move controller movement first.
I'll tell you what I really want to play AS with is two of these. I've tried to find them at local GameStops, but none seem to have any pre-owned.

Although I suppose they'd feel weird when it came to having to pick stuff up, especially if AS employs the T + Move button combo for grabbing.

cool, might as well DL the VR demo disc, and Playroom VR now, I think there are several other free VR games you can DL as well.
