Does the screen still freeze every time you hit an enemy in Hollow Knight? Can you turn it off? I hated that while watching streams.

It's not every time you hit an enemy, it's every time an enemy hits you. I assume they did that because you have limited health and if you don't notice yourself being hit you can be dead in seconds. I don't know if there is an option to turn it off, though.

Oof, Rocket League is one of those games where having a controller is better? That... might knock it lower on my wishlist. Though I played Dark Souls 3 with M+K and loved it, even though everyone recommends playing those games with a controller. How bad are Rocket League's M+K controls?

A lot of players use M+K with Rocket League, from my understanding. I think controller is more natural, but keyboard control is totally fine.

I've been curious about Divinity OS because I really loved Dragon Age Origins' combat. But I hear the story is lackluster which was my biggest draw to DAO. Thoughts?

D:OS combat is light years ahead of Dragon Age. I never thought much of the story in DA:O either, so I can't really comment on that end.

Hmm, interesting that Enhanced Steam seemed to miss that. :p

DOOM intrigues me because I haven't played a FPS like it before (arena shooters I think they're called?). Which is also a risk, because there's a chance I could totally hate it.

It's definitely playable, but I found it more enjoyable playing with an controller. Don't forget, its crossplay, so you'll be playing with & against xbox one (and switch in late 2017) players as well.

I want to get HuniePop just because the few clips I saw of it were hilarious.

I'd recommend picking it up. A bit embarrassing to own, but I enjoyed it. It's damn funny at times, and the puzzle portion is surprisingly well done. (A few friends bought it first and were all enjoying it, so I picked it up too.)

Man I dont know how to react to Bethesda's Elder Scrolls games being as expensive as they are. Skyrim still for 20 bucks ("Enhanced" edition be damned), and the Elder Scrolls collection on sale for 100 dollars? I bought every GTA from 1 to 4 for 12.50. Cmon now. And then it's so inconsistent, Dishonored 1 is 2.50.

Think I'm done unless there's something I discover something else later. Not including the Pinball FX dlc I bought, my haul so far is

Headlander
Hyper Light Drifter
The House in Fata Morgana

I'm thinking about recommending you to download the demo, but I'm not sure cause:

a) The demo doesn't do any justice to the overall quality of the game, since it's just the start of it (the game gets real when you're better geared).
b) The full game performs WAY better (for real, like almost 3x better).

But the demo still runs ok and will allow you to feel the controls. But if you download it, keep what I said in mind.

I made a little "review" some weeks ago in this thread here. Maybe you can have a better idea, and read other people opinion there too (mostly very positive).

Deus Ex HR Director's Cut worth it for ~4 bucks CAD? I tried to play the OG one on PS3 but then thr DC came out so I abandoned that.

The WiiU one is too expensive now.

DC version is still plagued with bugs that they won't ever fix.

Personally, I didn't experience any bugs. The DLC integration, as well as the re-tuned boss fights were welcome changes to the DC, but YMMV. The grx options, post proc. etc. are apparently better in the orig. cut though owing to it using a later revision of the code.

As a person who plays a lot of FPS games I got bored of DOOM after few hours. Visually its amazing, so it will keep you busy at first. But after few hours its just like another FPS to me Run, shoot, melee & repeat. I didn't find it to be a fun repetitiveness tho

I don't know what you were doing then. There have been very few games that play like this since Quake. Good battle areas, quick enemies. Only problems I have are that the weapons aren't distinct enough from each other and the 2nd Hell section is boring and highlights the game's most repetitive aspects.

Okay GAF, I have $20.38 in my Steam wallet. I was originally going to buy the Dark Souls 3 Season Pass, but it looks like it's not going on sale. Rocket League + Ys Oath is currently the pick I'm going with, but perhaps I could be swayed by some good arguments for the other games on my wishlist...

I've played only 1, 3 and 5.

Rocket League was fun for a couple hours for me but then I lost interest completely, others love it. There really isn't anything quite like it so I have a hard time saying if you'll like it or not.

DOOM is my favorite fps campaign in ages.

Divinity Original Sin has pretty good combat and art but some of the comedy/voice work can be over bearing at times. Still a great rpg.

Yeah, looking over some Reddit threads they say m+k is playable but most recommend using a controller. Damn, that really lessens my interest in the game. M+k is life.

Thanks, I'll check out the demo with those warnings in mind.

Yeah honestly that's what worries me. Especially because I seem to be growing less interested in FPS games over the years.

Thank you for the info. After learning that Rocket League is best played with a controller, D:OS may have bumped it from my top spot. Though the bad thing is that I can't buy Ys: Oath if I buy D:OS... I'm literally 10 fucking cents short lol.

Surprised nobody has mentioned Hollow Knight. I thought it was super popular on GAF.

Isn't your avatar the tf2 spy? That's kinda an arena shooter, just imagine you're playing as scout with more weapons, more health, a killer soundtrack and lots and lots of demon guts.

If I buy everything on my wishlist it hits about 600 bucks

Everything in my cart is 400 lawl

But all in preparation of a new pc eventually later in the year

What happened to all the OP memes? I had questions about the Steam sale and was hoping to find nothing but pictures of an anime I don't watch in place of answers.

I can't thank you enough. Literally free money.

Got 40 dollars.

I wouldn't say that Divinity OS's combat is all that similar to DAO. DOS combat is turn-based, and really shines when you're experimenting. You could get really creative with doing combinations of skills, spells, environment and positioning to great and unexpected results. So if that sort of things appeal to you, I say go for it.

The story and characters are forgettable, though. Don't expect anything except some humorous banters here and there.

I don't see many people picking up Furi. 50% off and it's an absolutely killer game, my GOTY 2016 for sure. It's an absolutely epic action masterpiece that slays it on just about every conceivable level. Furi is off the charts when it comes to action gameplay, pacing, difficulty, art direction, character design, music, etc. It looks like a cross between an anime OAV from the early 90s, a European sci-fi comic like Heavy Metal or 2000 AD, and a psychedelic French music video. The action is insane; when you get close to defeating a guardian, your hands will cramp up, your palms will get sweaty, your heart will beat faster. The moments when I finally killed off two bosses in particular (
sniper and swordsman
) were complete gaming nirvana. The game is hard and takes some serious focus, but the difficulty will actually sharpen your general gaming skills when it comes to any other games that require precision and timing. Now that I’ve beaten this game, I’ve become so much better at other action games with a dash or parry mechanic. I'm simply a better, more skilled gamer than I was when I first started Furi.

So yeah, go for it. This one is special.

Having Shadow Tactics and The Long Journey Home is making me want to get this bundle...

http://store.steampowered.com/bundle/3851/Daedalic_Summer_Sale_Bundle_2017/

It's not a bad bundle and I've been wanting to play Deponia as well.

I saw that bundle earlier, I'm sure you checked but I had to look it up and only saw what the hell it actually was but

Deponia the Complete Journey = 1- Deponia, (main Game).
2- Chaos on Deponia.
3- Goodbye Deponia.

Since they don't even say what it contains/actually is in the main description, the top rated comment actually explains it better. I guess it's kind of a (Duh) thing but whatever

ok filled my cart with games, will probably spend a nice amount of time thinking about which ones to get

my budget isn't super huge so probably not gonna go past $30~

kind of interesting in god eater cos it kind of sounds like dragon's dogma, so that's probably a lock

then i might do bayonetta i think, i kind of wanted to play bayonetta a lot when it rereleased but then i lost a bit of interest, so idk

hollow knight looks really cool but it also sounds really long which is not something i'm super looking forward to

idk idk

Hollow Knight has spiders who do spider things that I found rather unpleasant even as someone who doesn't usually give a fuck about spiders.

Do you mean the Deponia bundle or the 50 dollar one?

Either one is good but it's not my money, I already own the first deponia and liked it a lot for a point and click

Although from just looking at prices it seems like you can buy the 3 games for deponia separately for 4.97 vs 5.99 so it depends if you want 3 game entries or one

I'm debating whether to spend the money on RE7. Are the dlcs/season pass considered mandatory to the experience?

If i recall correctly i was running around and killing demons.
Maybe i haven't played that long to discover all wonders of that game, but for now i have no wish to revisit that game. Someday tho.

Ahh I meant the whole Daedalic bundle. But it's good to hear Deponia is nice as well.

I'm actually looking at that bundle, too, except I only have Deponia Complete from it. How is The Long Journey Home. Seems like an interesting game, but the price is pretty steep and accounts for almost half the cost of this bundle. Worth it?

Can anyone recommend some good indies? Just downloaded Hollow Knight and playing it with the Switch pro controller feels so great.

Yes, indeed. Interesting, I didn't know TF2 was considered an arena shooter. Your statement in bold makes a very good case for DOOM.

Final content update has been released a couple of days ago. Now it's just optimization and polish until release. I'd say it's the time to jump in.

Cool - thanks. I'll give it a shot. Not usually my type of game but I really like the way it looks and also how it has structure / a goal / some kind of loose story.
