Good lord why the fuck am I playing SOMA when I can't even finish Amnesia

I fell for the first "jump scare" of a loud noise and the lights turning off, crawled myself into a corner and hit 'Save and Quit'

Man, I tried to set a $20 limit for myself, but I'm struggling to even find stuff to add up to $20. Conversely, I want Rimworld but that's $30.

I could either say fuck it, get nothing; get rimworld and cut out my 2 days of fast food limit, or just get the pittance of like $14 game that would technically just be library filler as I'd never play them.

worst sale yet, for me. I should've just done that vanquish bayonetta exploit, but I held off because I was sure Vanquish would be on discount this sale.

so we have to actually play the games we buy? maan.

Loaded up Disgaea, transmigrated some schnooky fire mage I had (after promoting her enough to actually do so,) to get that achievement.

I'd say that Amnesia is scarier than Soma.

I'd also recommend the Wuss Mode mod.

So I just did some long overdue account management, finally got Steam mobile app/2 factor auth so I can sell some cards.

Question: If I put cards up now, they get the typical 15-day hold. Will these holds automatically come off in 7 days since I have it linked with mobile authentication? Or do I need to wait 7 days when there shouldn't be anything, and then put them up?

OK, it seems like Gafs' three biggest darlings for this year Steam Sale are:

Axiom Verge, Hollow Knight and Grim Dawn.

Any reason for me not to buy them?

Grim Dawn is great if you love Diablo or Titan's Quest. Path of Exile is also good and f2p.

New class coming to GD soon too, been looking forward to that.

Hollow Knight is coming to the Switch. That's why I'm not buying it on PC. I really want to play it....on my Switch lol. It's going to do crazy numbers on the Switch.

Any recs for a good sci if fps or tps? Assume I've played major releases like Half life 2.

Prey (2017) by Arkane Studios. GOTY contender. Immersive sci-fi FPS genre. (think System Shock, Bioshock).

Does Vanquish count? If yes, then Vanquish if you haven't played it yet.

I'm in the same boat. Could buy it now but I love my Switch for this kind of game and I don't have a GPD Win. Luckily it seems not to be far off and the devs said the only thing left is optimisation.

This is why borderless is life
You have it backwards.
Fullscreen blocks notifications/overlays.
Borderless allows them.

Holy shit prey is so good yall
It's a strong GotY contender for me.

The room 1 and 2 are solid games. The Room 3 is the best adventure game ever created. Get all three.
I think the third game is only on mobile.
Not sure why they haven't ported it, but they seem to be working on a fourth game now.

Binary Domain is a great cover shooter about fighting robots while uncovering a mystery about synthetic humans. Good robot deformation, great environments, memorable characters.

XCOM: The Bureau Declassified isn't a great game but it is an interesting take on the XCOM franchise. Cool RTWP mechanics similar to Mass Effect along with plenty of XCOM aliens in a 60's Americana setting makes for a solid package.

Risk of Rain is a 2D Roguelike but it's still a shooter and very sci-fi and very great. Killer soundtrack.

Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel isn't as strong as Borderlands 2 overall because of some repetition in environments and side characters that aren't very great but it has the best gameplay loop in the series thanks to double jumping, ground pounding and laser and cryo weapons (and no slag weapons!) The skill trees are also the best of the series, better with a friend but still enjoyable solo.

And then of course you've got your Vanquish, Mass Effects etc.

I was going to start Hollow Knight but since there's new content coming next month I guess it'll have to wait.

It should be noted there are another 2 content packs due out after that too. So it seems there isn't a best time to start. The game is pretty hefty as it is, so I'd recommend just starting whenever. The extra content should work beyond that... or at least I'm guessing so since there is only so many times they can expect people to play through the game when adding content

Decided to get the Ys 1&2 pack and wow I am actually quite surprised by the game, both in how much I like it and how it plays. It was super weird to get used to not attacking at first. Also the game has a bunch of missable achivements so had to restart the game a couple of times.XD

I'm having control issues with Hollow Knight and I'm not sure why. It's like there's input lag even though my PC can handle the game just fine. Sometimes inputs aren't read, sometimes they just keep going long after I've stopped putting an input in. Not to mention there's a noticeable delay on menu inputs.

I don't really get it.

Good choices. I'll vouch for New Vegas, Psychonauts, Brütal Legend, Wolfenstein and Deus Ex: Human Revolution. Just make sure to actually play them. ;)

Is Bioshock Infinite even trying to be a modernized attempt at an immersive sim? I never got that sense.
More an immersive sim series that decided to try to be more of a mainstream shooter, and thus end up with only vestigial remnants of being that type of game (like plundering toilets for... potatoes.)

Going more mainstream is probably the better way to put it, in that it kind of regressed to being a more typical shooter with a unique setting, but it wasn't just exotic settings I played Bioshock for.

Oh wow, episode 3 actually has visuals to supplement the financial stuff explanations :O
Kind of crazy how each episode increases in production value, though it is kind of a shame that they couldn't all have been like this. Then again, it's not actually necessary to understand all the technical mumbo-jumbo anyway : P

Phantom Brave is a lot more "experimental" in its mechanics than Disgaea. It uses free positioning, and it has a very different system for putting units on the battlefield (where you can only keep them temporarily).

Its story is a lot more somber compared to Disgaea's comedy, but I like it a lot.

Here's my Steam review of it, which goes into more detail.

Yeah, it doesn't directly compare but I like it because it's so dang weird compared to Disgaea. I never finished it because I overleveled (unintentional) too fast and all of the main missions were becoming too easy. There are a lot of similarities in gameplay progression systems but they don't exactly play alike.

I hope we eventually get ZHP and Soul Nomad on PC.

What type of content is being added?

Are Grim Fandandgo and Full Throttle worthy additions to the catalogue?

Never played either, but I've just made the mistake of remembering Discworld so now I'm feeling the it's the right time to plough through classic point and click games I've never played, my list is Monkey Island 1&2 and Day of The Tentacle on PS4.

Bought "The Final Station". I am really liking the atmosphere and the sense of place. The gameplay loop could get repetitive if the game is longer or nothing changes.
