I am in this boat. I don't think there was any Sony talks back that far.

Of course there bloody wasn't.

I don't think anyone seriously believes this was some crazy calculated intentional foreshadowing on the film-makers part. It's just a cute fan retcon Feige and Holland might want to make canon, like Rex from Clone Wars/Rebels being in Return of the Jedi.

Now someone needs to cut together some young tom holland footage to go with that clip and we're full circle. There's a ton of footage from his Billy Elliot days, or The Impossible

Uh, guys, is it really a retcon when they never named the kid?
It's absolutely a retcon if there was no solid expectation that Spider-Man would ever be in the MCU and they weren't actually trying to make that a Peter Parker moment when making the movie back in the day

The Winter Soldier is a retcon to Bucky dying in WW2

(I await Slayven coming in to tell me I'm wrong)

Did Bucky die in a way in the comics that was unambiguous, or did it play out in a similar way to the films where they left enough room for him to come back?

People who poo-poo this must think these movies are based on true stories. It's all fiction. the author's original intent is meaningless. TV shows must drive you insane.

At first I was like "but that kid was really little there's no way he could grow up already to Peter's age". Then I remembered Iron Man 2 came out 7 years ago already.

Also honestly this isn't a huge deal or anything like that. It's just a retcon that turns some extra into Parker

The actress that played the kid is ~18 years old.

Bucky died in the comics around forty years before the winter soldier storyline so yeah, it was pretty unambiguous.
