Final Fantasy XV: Episode Prompto |OT|

I'm curious how people will feel about the worth of this compared to Gladio. I didn't buy Gladio because I didn't find the ganeplay too exciting in the Chapter XIII Part 2 section. But the Prompto bits seems interesting, and the plot kind of has me a little hooked.

I find it very interesting that they seriously change the style of gameplay with each of these DLCs. From teleporting with swords, to running with a big sword, to firearms. They're really forcing ways of playing the game I didn't deal with in the base game. And I'm not saying that's a bad thing in any way.

Beat it. I'm of the opinion that this badly needs to be a part of the main game post Chapter 11+
Completely agree the story is actually really good and it fleshes out several characters. The story content really felt like cut content from the main game.

Yoshichan

And they made him a Lord of Cinder. Not for virtue, but for might. Such is a lord, I suppose. But here I ask. Do we have a sodding chance?
The best part about this is that we're getting closer to Ignis DLC

So, logically, in Episode Ignis there'll be an Iris superboss fight.

Doesn't work like that,
Cor and Aranea are both "superiors", veteran warriors. Iris, from how she's handled in the game prior to the Dark World, is at most lesser than Noctis and bros and at the very least, up to par. If we are talking about a veteran, and we are at Altissia, I'd be more inclined to think Weskham or Cid.

1 hour + in, god damn, the cutscenes and story is meaty here. A lot of linking between the anime and Kingsglaive.
Really enjoying it a lot. If episode Gladio is $5, this is easily a $20.

Also Aranea.

Should I play these after I've finished FFXV or is there some sort of machete order? Up to Chapter 4 in the main story.

You'll know the moment one of them slots into the timeline. Like, they were not subtle about setting them up in the base game.

Yep, can confirm. When you reach the point of, "wait what happened there?"
It's most likely one of the DLC.

Sounds like the story at least is worth it. It also sounds like they should just incorporate these episodes into the main game. I realize the mechanics are different and it might be jarring to weave in and out between the main game and the episodes, but maybe they could at least do it to where the game asks you, if you have the content, if you would like to do each episode as they occur chronologically.

I know the Gladiolus episode was a decent surprise for me with fun combat and it expanded on the characters and provided more lore. And a really cool environment/boss.

ULTROS!

People seem to like me because I am polite and I am rarely late. I like to eat ice cream and I really enjoy a nice pair of slacks.

That sounds terrible. The main game has enough pacing issues without inserting random multi hour side stories.

And yeah I mean it already has pacing issues as you said and things feel undercooked that I think these episodes are gonna help out on. I know Gladiolus did, at least for me. Cor actually had good material. So having the option would be cool I think.

6 months to work on those changes from the survey and ignis then. I really can't believe there's anything more than a skeleton crew working on this now. I wonder if they've been able to start well with the new Ip.

Alright just finished it. Clocked in at
1hour 30 minutes
I rushed through story, didn't spend any time in the
open area side quest

Love the story, a lot of sweet cutscenes, Aranea is great in it, audio logs are short, sweet and some juicy info.

I really don't agree. If the option popped up I probably would use it, assuming that's the intended order, and that would definitely be a worse experience. Having them accessible via the main menu is perfect. People can pop out and do them if they want I guess.

Does this add context to the gaps in the main games story? when we get this game on steam with these episodes will the story feel more "whole"?

Well it'd be your choice :p

Prompto has a good arc,the Empire and it's army both get a bunch of explaining, and it ties in well to both to Brotherhood and Kingsglaive.

Ruff is right, its essential story that does help fill out the main narrative, and needs to be a part of the base game

Just bought it, but I'll be able to play it only in few days :p

Nice to hear there's enough story content to justify it.

No you are ignoring my point. How do you explain to people when you offer that choice that by doing so they will be getting a worse experience?

Offering the choice gives the implication that is a suggested way to play the game when it shouldn't be.

People who already understand the game and dlc and how they are structured know enough to just pop out to the main menu if they want to play in that order.

Maybe she can function in that role
due to Ignis' injury during the main DLC; and have the optional boss fight be something set post-timeskip when she's legitimately a formidable opponent in her own right.

Episode Ignis is promising because it's place in the timeline means that Ignis, Ardyn, Luna, Ravus, Gentiana and even Weskham can all potentially have a substantial role

I still have yet to play ff15

I bought the gladiolus pack for the heck of it. Now I'm wondering should I buy this and ignis separately (10€) or should I buy the season pass ? (25€). It's a big difference

The prompt can just explain it as an optional, short story sequence. I dunno I don't see it as a big deal if it's a choice. I think players would be okay either way.

What difference does it make?^^ It will cost the same in total if you get all episodes separately and later get the multiplayer DLC too for probably 10€.

Just finished up all the Stormblood quests and saw a prompt a few hours ago that the FFXV update was ready. Game's updated. Episode Prompto trophies have been added.......but no Episode Prompto anywhere in the store.

Also looked at my Season Pass. It lists Episodes Gladio and Ignis, but Prompto isn't listed. Something's afoot.

The store won't let me pay the DLC, so I'll try again later. My expectations are super low so let's see if this can impress me.

So I found a way to easily beat the optional
level 99 Behemot
fight.
In the area there's a location which spawns weapon infinitely, and it's placed right on the battle circle. If you leave the circle, you will start regaining your health, and the monster too.

The trick is, keep attacking the enemy with the rocket launcher, try to avoid the ice spikes it will throw to you. If you get hit, simply wait until you are in crisis status, and quickly step out of the circle and back in again. You will heal the crisis status and if you are quick enough the monster won't regen its energy. Try to have some phoenix down with you, just in case you are not quick enough.

I mean, base on the impressions, if this DLC proves anything, it is that most of the main plot structural issues were because they ran out of time, not conscience design choices.

And that means they managed their time wrongly then.
