Diablo 3 - Necromancer Pack - June 27th - $14.99

I think they needed the max xp from gems too so you can't 'accidentally' get boosted. I had a hacked account and hated it. Reset the lot as soon as Necromancer was announced, in preparation for today.

Now, do I Gem of Ease or take it slow?

I think I'll take it slow.

Take it slow, you want to learn how the skills work before jumping instantly into end game.

Have dates been set for the next season? If I play the Necromancer at all, my intention would be to do it in seasonal hardcore, and it would be useful to know how long I can put off acquiring the content pack.

~10GB patch on PS4

Thanks Vashetti!
I was just going to post about how big the update is and if it's up to buy.

So I presume this expansion is indeed "live" for PS4 owners in North America and is
a 10 gig update/file.

Probably will buy but really trying to get my Crusader to 70(I'm grinding and at level 43 now playing on the hardest difficulty that is available to me.

You can now buy the necro pack on PSN web store and the Eternal Collection with the necro pack bundle is live digitally.

It's not like this is an unfair price though.

Some think so, and I understand that. I think so too but I know it's typical Blizzard to do this so I wasn't that surprised. I've spent a lot of money on Blizzard already, what's $15 for something I feel I need, plus a little more.

15 hearthstone packs is $20, I'm not sure what people were expecting this to cost....

Cool, let's just compare all future prices to Blizzard's most flagrantly expensive in-app purchases for games that literally live and die on them.

I mean, fuck it, let's just make it 60 dollars, this will bring some people 1000 more hours of playtime, that's worth more than a couple dozen card packs amirite?

Glad you settled that for everyone. Reading the thread, there were quite a few of us that were obviously confused.

Your confusion doesn't make sense, though. Want to play necro? You'll get dozens/hundreds of hours from your $15. Don't want to play necro? Then don't buy it?

I should get this, but I don't know if I have anymore Diablo 3 in me. I'll have to see when Path of Exile mega expansion is and if the price of Necro is better than more stash space in PoE.

Speaking of, Blizzard should just make even more stash space available to PC players. Let it go to the moon. Why not? I suppose if a person only play seasons and quit after a short while like me, it' snot that useful.

I used to play Diablo 3 on PS4 using physical disk. If I buy the digital package now, can I load my old save games?

It was silly to get disk for a game that I'd play so much.

Well you can think whatever you want, but again this is not an unfair price and if you are not wanting to pay that much than don't. It's not complicated.

So were you expecting this to be 5 dollars? 10 dollars? what's a realistic price for a character in a game like this? 15 for this is exactly what I was expecting and it's a fair price.

Yeah especially when you compare it to the cost of other digital content for Blizzard's other games.
I really don't know what people were expecting but I don't see anything wrong with what they are asking for it.

Such an overreaction.

I bought a secondary PSN Account from someone years ago. Diablo was part of the package. Can I buy this DLC on my primary and still get all the goods or would I need to buy on my secondary. I'm asking because all my money is on my primary account and I'd rather buy it there.

Jesus. What were you expecting this to cost? $10? $5? Nothing?

We can debate the price point until the end of time, but at the end of the day this price is either reasonable for you or it isn't. The fact is that of Blizzard's games Diablo is the only one that hasn't felt the inexorable rise of microtransactions since the RMAH was canned. Starcraft has their DLC packs and new announcers and new heroes for their co-op commanders mode, Overwatch and HOTS have lootboxes, WOW has a monthly fee *and* cosmetic purchases like mounts, and Hearthstone has purchasable avatars and, as mentioned, has card packs.

To hope for the Necro to be totally free in today's videogame market feels naïve, and to expect it and be indignant about it not being free just feels stupid.

Quick question -- someone in this thread mentioned that Blizzard had taken steps to fix how hacked the console versions had become (and it absolutely was a horrendous mess). Can anyone give me more information on this? Last time I logged on a few months ago to the Xbox One, it was still terrible (unlimited DPS weapons, ultra haste causing massive slowdown, etc).

I'll say it again, just creating one character for the fighting game Skullgirls cost $250k. Adding a character as DLC cost them $150k. This DLC could cost more or less to make, it includes a lot of other stuff everyone gets that could add to that cost or raise it to that comparison, but that's the only metric we have to compare to really. It's straight from a dev.

How could Blizz justify a possible $200k~ free DLC update? lmao. People are going fucking crazy over this shit. I really want Blizz to break down the costs just so people can see how ingnorant and unreasonable they are being.

Bartholow replied, but added: “We’ve heard rumors that Street Fighter IV characters cost more than $1M each.”

I mean 15 dollars IS a bit much. I feel like they priced it at the maximum they thought they could get away with charging. I feel like 15 dollars is the sweet spot for rabid fans and everyone else will just wait for a eventual sale.

Personally I felt like 40 for Reaper was over priced for what it is. You pay 60 dollars for the base game and get 4 acts and 6 characters. The expansion had 1 act and 1 character and one remix mode. This new character pack is 15 for 1 character. I feel like we are paying a "Activision Premium". The same way their Call of Duty map packs are over priced.

I'm going to pay the 15 dollars now because diablo 3 only goes on sale like twice a year and I don't feel like waiting that long lol.

I'm guessing to let new players / characters level to 70.

More likely to squish any bugs and gather more data they couldn't get during the beta. They'll have a much larger sample size to work with even more than if they had made it a normal open PTR. I assume we'll get one or two balance/bug patches/hotfixes before they will let Season 11 open.

EDIT: And I sure hope they do give Necro a fair bit a buffs before S11 kicks in, the class felt slightly under-tuned when I played them in beta IMO.

that's so late what the hell

why such a long break?

It's actually July 20th. But yes, still a while to go.

Personally i won't bother playing until the Season as i'll start fresh then anyway. 3 weeks isn't exactly that long to properly gear up anyway.

Personally I was expecting $20, but the extra stash tabs/character slots feel like just sweetening the pot a little for as little code as necessary to make the price point feel worth it.

I'm jumping on this basically the second I get home, but I expect some will definitely look at the price point and say this is too much. I think $10 would have been a great price point, but $15 doesn't feel too onerous. I do feel like any price point over "free" would have been too much for some in this thread though, which is odd to me.

I think that part of it had to do with Seasons coming to consoles. It's less a matter of "can't hack the consoles now" and more "can't bring hacked items from the old gen consoles into seasons".

I'm levelling nice and slow on the 3rd or 4th difficulty and it's going well so far. I like the character. Well worth the £13 paid and I can't wait to see the set items.

Yeah especially when you compare it to the cost of other digital content for Blizzard's other games.

Can't tell if this is sarcasm, but one thing that costs a lot, costing less than something else doesn't make it somehow a better deal. It's all optional stuff that you don't need, but Blizzard are still price gouging pretty hard.
As far as the Necro cost goes, it's not bad I suppose, but even though I haven't played for about two years now, not sure the class alone is worth revisiting the same old stuff.

why such a long break?

Probably for those that didn't beta the Necro?

It seems expensive for one character but after taking into account the post reaper of souls support and the near 1000 hours I have since vanilla I can't sort of justify abit more.

I'm at work so I bought it on PSN and DLed it to my PS4 remotely. It will be gtg by the time I get home. My wife and daughters are super excited to jump back into D3.
