Wkd BO 06•23-25•17 - Transformers snore than meets the eye, Woman keeps up with Cars

Guardians 2 is like $850m worldwide right now right? I can't fathom Spidey NOT making another $150m on top of that.

Depends. I can easily see $150m worth of people being turned off by the ASM films. But then, I can also see $150m worth of people seeing Tony Stark and the Marvel logo and being convinced to go.

The powers of RT in 2017 will hopefully undo any ill will towards the character created by the ASM films.

$58M domestic

3D re-releases peaked domestically with the Lion King and pretty quickly dropped into the $40M range. The last noteworthy one was Jurassic Park 3D, I believe

For some reason, I thought you had high expectations for Girls Trip.

edit: Oh, this is why

That does seem likely now. :lol
Hell that was even before Rough Night shit the bed at the box office
The Best Man Holiday audience is not to be underestimated, but Hollywood will

I hope Justin Lin is waiting outside of the Paramount Executive Offices showing them the T5 numbers to convince them to give him Star Trek.

He could adapt the comic set after Beyond where the Borg show up and they have to do a Best of Both Worlds with Spock.

I like you.

I thought the fourth Trek was gonna be Mirror Universe shit, where Kirk has to fight Mirror Universe George Kirk or some shit.

BATTLE OF THE CHRISES

I think the Borg are iconic enough (and people have fond enough memories of First Contact) that going that direction wouldn't be a terrible idea.

The next Star Trek movie better not have the Enterprise getting jobbed by technology far beyond it again. I want tense as hell space battles with Kirk being an actual Captain destroying klingon birds of prey SOOOO badly.

It'll be the Enterprise vs. the Mirror Universe Kelvin.

Imagine Balance of Terror/Wrath of Khan

But with Justin Lin

And the two Chrises.

Everyone keeps forgetting Justin Lin is busy with Space Jam 2.

If Simon Pegg had directing experience, it'd be neat if they continued the tradition and had him direct New Star Trek 4.

Maybe you're confused as to which two Chrises I mean.

There's the one that plays Kirk

And then this one (who is also, technically, a Kirk)

Why are strippers at the U.N. bad when they're great at strip clubs???
Throw in 4 Chris' for good measure given that this will be the fourth Star Trek produced by JJ:

Chris Pratt
Chris Evans
Chris Pine
Chris Hemsworth

So much eye candy, I'm sweating already...

I'm just happy people started talking Trek up in this. I don't care if they're fighting the Borg or the Cardassians or Kirk's string of episodic exes, I just want confirmation Paramount's even doing it.

Wants to outlaw technological innovation.

The highest Spider-Man ever made at the Box Office was 890 mil with Spider-Man 3. That opened at 181 mil for an opening weekend. Homecoming is on track for around 100 mil, maybe somewhat more. Now Guardians 2 opened around 145 mil and couldn't even hit a billion. I highly doubt Spider Man will make a billion.

DS9's first two or three Mirror Universe eps are pretty great. It's the latter-seasons fare that sucks, which runs counter to the fact that most other aspects of latter-seasons DS9 is aces.

Phew. Was about to say, disrespecting of DS9 will not be tolerated.

I really liked Pine in WW this year. Sort of sad they probably won't have his brother's identical grandson in the present day stuff.
