Media Create Sales: Week 26, 2017 (Jun 26 - Jul 02)

I doubt it'll sell on par with the 3ds ltd tbh.
Different price, likely shorter life, different era.
I can see it selling between 10 and 15M LTD for now though.

Even the PS3 sold 10 million. The switch looks to have vastly more demand and potential (though potentially could have a shorter lifespan). I think 15 million is like the low end for the switch. I think it'll end up between 20 million and the 3DS ltd but it's too early to really tell.

Nope. Same day as DQXI along with the bundle, I believe. Gonna be a huge week for PS4!

It's a big year for the PS4. It's already up by 130K over last year and after DQXI that will grow significantly. Unless it craters post DQXI it looks like it will increase on last years numbers. A price drop later this year would ensure that.

In general July looks like it will be huge for HW sales. Expecting bit things from the PS4, switch and even the 3DS. SW will be just as impressive.

No it's out/becomes a standard model the same day that DQXI releases

Hmm they won´t sell the black one anymore? Maybe some people bought a PS4 to make sure they have a black then? I sure don´t like white consoles.

Looks like PS4 may have a year better than PS3 ever had. Or not since last year had FF XV, the slim and pro launches and that wasn´t enough...
Any PS4xPS3 charts?

I said it in the other thread but I'll post here as well. I think 25k is what they'll get until September. Even is they double the shipment for Splatoon 2, I think the next few weeks will be smaller shipments to balance it out. So like 50k for Splatoon, then 20k the next five weeks. Really sucks for Nintendo, but at least they will hit their numbers the predicted..

EDIT: OR I could have it backwards (duh(, 25k is them holding back and Splatoon's really forward they up the shipments, since they'll have XX coming in August, followed but the fall barrage of games.

Something just dawned on me. Nintendo plans to have 10 million systems by year's end. Worldwide. If the percentages stay as they have been, the would be

US: 3 mil
JPN: 2.5 mil
RoW: 4.5 mil

That really doesn't seem like a lot at all, seeing how Japan and the US are pretty much half way there in 1/3 the time. Maybe if they can't get more out there, then maybe re allocate the remaining 5 million consoles left for the year to the markets with the most demand for it.
Guess we'll find out in the coming months how they handle this.

You have to remember that 10 million is for FY17, meaning it doesn't count the March launch sales. So, Japan has sold about 439k this FY, US probably like 600k-700k, and that would mean Japan should still get 2 million units from now until March 31 2018.

The theory that they are keeping some units behind does have merit, since it seems strange they could suddenly only produce half as much as what they did during that period where you could have expected slow sales as well, namely in early-mid April. We'll see if that's true or if they did plan to produce half as much.

How does the attach rate increase for arms if more consoles were sold this week than arms copies?
Attach rate is the percentage of console owners that bought a game. When ARMS sells 19k and Switch 26k, the attach rate for that specific week is 19/26*100% = 73%. That is higher than the percentage was before (10% or 11%), so this week's attach rate helps to increase the overall attach rate, bringing it from 10% to approximately 14%.

No, Jet Black PS4 will still be available. Glacier White PS4, which was previously sold in limited quantities, will become a standard model starting from July 29.

And I was thinking that Radiant Historia would bomb. And for Switch, I am really curious to see how many units Nintendo have dedicated Splatoon 2 release

Last PS4 year was better than PS3 ever had (unless i am huge mistaken here) although by a small amount.

Has the glacier white PS4 released?

It is available in Japan since February in limited quantities and it will be fully available the week DQXI releases.

Zelda can reach to 1 million if the stock issues goes away and whenever there is a big release for Switch this year (Splatoon and Odyssey)

Why does it need to reach 1m in that time period? Can't it reach 1m after a year?

Pretty sure there will be a GOTY/all content edition after the holiday season when the dlc had time to sell (after the ballad of the champions is out).

Yeah, Zelda and MK8D currently seemed tied to the system itself in terms of respective sales. Hard to say how long that will last though, and how Splatoon 2 will affect that.

Splatoon 2 is getting bundles as well so that points towards a bigger shipment. Hoping for 100K+, more importantly though hoping that we'll soon see the end of sub 30K shipments.

Definitely. I think 100k+ will happen, and after that we are in a period where they are building up to another new release in MHXX, so I could see either scenario play out: either they maintain momentum towards that release, keeping the shipments high for at least the weeks between Splatoon 2 or MHXX (that seems most likely to me, since supplying for Splatoon 2 should be more than just a one week high imo), or we have the same game where shipments are low in anticipation of a new bundle and big game release in late August.

It's just an interesting thing to determine. Reaching 1 million LTD seems very likely to me at this point, but it'd be cool if it could do so within this CY.

If they fix the stock issue it's certainly possible but if it lasts for too long.... Nope.

Nice to see Arms do well btw.

I'm pretty sure momentum will continue regardless of stock issues. There's Splatoon 2 and Mario before the end of the year and a mainline Pokemon in 2018. That should buy them more than enough time to get stock in a better place.

Media Create has it other way around so yes depends on which tracker you favor.

PS4 2016: 1.799.586

Thanks, i was ready to post this. At this point i wonder if 6 million until the end of year is possible for PS4. The system will get many games after DQXI but aside DW9 (which we are not sure it will be released this year in Japan) there are no other big names announced for the rest of the year.

Everybody´s Golf and GT used to be big. I doubt any of those will do anything.

There´s Knack 2 though!

Two copies sold? That's not a bomb guys, stop trolling!!!

Hiska-kun, unfortunately the graphs can't be seen, the image states "Please update your account to enable 3rd party hosting". I suggest to use a different image uploader than Photobucket :p

They're obviously migrating to the PS4 in anticipation of the true Monster Hunter experience!

Will be interesting to see how close the Switch can get to the 3DS before the 3DS price cut spike hits. The week before SPlatoon 2 will likely see the Switch around 118k behind still if supply doesn't improve, feasibly if Supply hits around 75k for Splatoon 2 launch and then 50k per week after for a few weeks after, it could get close, or actually give it a slight lead by week 24, but then 3DS will just explode away from it again shortly after.

Nier may have ducked out of the top 20, but it will probably be in the low 20s, still selling more than 2,000 a week. It'll hit 350k in next week, and that's just a phenomenal achievement for the game.

Why does it need to reach 1m in that time period? Can't it reach 1m after a year?

Pretty sure there will be a GOTY/all content edition after the holiday season when the dlc had time to sell (after the ballad of the champions is out).

It's been a fun bet I've had with some members. I don't think it's going to happen this year, but some do. It's going to be close and it may make it through some technicalities and not make it through others depending on trackers and digital sales.

A lot of PS Vita games released but it barely pushed up the hardware sales.

Games that were never going to sell any system. The audience for these visual novels are already there, ain't nobody getting a Vita six years after launch for a specific niche visual novel... Or at least not that many people.

It all comes down to stock. If Nintendo can ship enough than I think the switch will keep pace with the 3DS. It's hard to see that happening though right now.

The PS3 also was on the market 7 years.
I just don't see that happening with the Switch, or I'd say more than 15 for sure.

The PS3 had some awful years though and it's peak won't be close to what the switch will achieve. Despite the massive shortages the switch will still easily sell more in its first year on the market than the PS3 sold in its best year (and it only released in March). Next year I think the switch will show itself to be a worthy successor to the 3DS in terms of sales.

Almost eveything that gets released on Vita lately is visual novel. They have a dedicated fanbase but extremely niche. You can't expect to sell systems with this software.
