Favorite Anthropomorphic / Non-Human Character Designs

Renamon.full.1595179.jpg

Renamon is bae.

never actually played a digimon game

Dang it OP I dislike that chimpmunky ass Ratchet image. He never looked quite like that in the actual game, I think the model was slightly revised for ToD. (Or maybe it's just the expression)
But at least you didn't post his A4O model.

Anyone who thinks this isn't his best look is wrong

I actually appreciate all the Ratchet models for different reasons. The original with his massive gloves has a very comedic quality to him. The Crack in Time model has some of the best fidelity. The All 4 One model and movie model have a nice smoothness and a childlike quality to them. (Plus I'm one of the few who really love A4O, primarily because it really gave CreatureBox some freedom to play with their art style and character and environment design.)

Some of my favorite images of Ratchet are the even more stylized ones:

I'd really love to see if the game could translate to 2D with a style similar to the UbiArt Engine. That's my dream game.

That's why I included the "/ Non-human" part of the post. It wasn't meant to be only anthropomorphic characters, but rather non-human characters, many of which just happen to be anthropomorphized.

We could split hairs about many of them. For instance, Noodle's face conveys emotion. He can smile or get scared, and screams when he falls to his death. If an real life snake ever smiles or yells at me, I'm gonna either kill it quickly or shit myself.

Thus: Cartoon snake. And I wasn't saying anything about nonhuman. I know what this thread is about. I was just defining anthropomorphism for those confused by the term..

Gonna get flack for this but i loved the blocky redesigned characters from banjo kazooie nuts and bolts. Even more so than the original looks.

I think those look better in a 2D drawing form like those images. I don't like how it translated to 3D (A4O)

This is my favorite 2D form of him though.

Much better than the originals.

I mean I understand nostalgia and everybody loved B&K as kids and a redesign was always going to upset people, but the original B&K design was terrible.

It's dangerously close. You got actual interesting designs and then it's someone's fursona.

The least human looking are more interesting imo

Are you kink shaming rn

Yet.

I personally hope that Yoshi-P gets his wish and they implement the Viera. At least then one of the player races would look a bit less human from all the other choices.

Was supposed to be the Au Ra but then they just turned them into weebs with scales.

There are also quite a few great Persona/SMT demon designs, here are two of my favorites.

In terms of Soejima Personas, P5MC's ultimate Persona is probably my favorite (spoilers, so I just link it):

In terms of SMT demons, Metatron is dope

Guys, GUYS. Why has the clear, undisputed no. 1 not even been mentioned yet?

It could only be: Mario.

Nintendo seems to have just retconned his humanity with Odyssey as we all (should) know.

(Which I really still don't like. He should have been a human plumber from a Brooklyn...er New Donk City where every other human looked similarly cartoony to him, meaning he'd be returning home in SMO. A historically big case of coming close to perfection but just missing the mark, imo, at least when it comes to tying SMO to the original Donkey Kong, Mario Bros. and the Mario Super Show.)

Fake edit: I'd go with Sonic for a serious answer, followed by Mega Man and Mega Man X if robots and adroids count. Kid Icarus is high up there for me too. Never really took to any 32-bit generation and onwards non-humans I must admit, like Spyro, Crash, Jak, Sly or Ratchet. They always seemed too focus tested to appeal to children instead of just being cool, if that makes sense.
