Favorite Anthropomorphic / Non-Human Character Designs

I like this picture of both so much!

Sonic is just an iconic design. It doesn't get much more effective than this. My favorite "look" for Sonic is how he's portrayed in Sonic CD/the OVA but I like all his designs from the mainline games.

Kirby for sure. Super cute and versatile. I love a lot of the Kirby enemy designs too. Waddle Dees are cute enough to helm their own series.

I love all of these characters so much.

I wish there were more modern anthropomorphic characters, most of these are from a decade or so ago.

where can I find the rest of the artworks from secret of mana that you posted?
I've never seen these.
I think what I posted are actually all from different entries, lol

Googling "[Mana title] concept art" brings up pages from this Mana wiki like this one which has quite a few, tho it seems it's missing a bunch for each title which are instead scattered across the wiki for the different monster entries. A bit confusing.

People actually hate Orisa? That's news to me, as I think she's one of the cooler robot designs from Overwatch.

Helps that she's a nice balance of cute and badass.

I see it a lot. Folks say she's boring and uninspired and doesn't fit in overwatch. They are wrong.

A topic full of good ideas and good characters
I don't have any of my massive compilation of Animal Crossing villager images any more to post.

Why the FUCK is goddamn Rayman in the OP though, his dumpsterfire floating limb and 90s boyband hairstyle bother me so much

He looks like the creation of a 31 yr old with the artistic skill of a 13 yr old

I love it when people said they don't want to play Dust: An Elysian Tail just because it has anthropomorphic characters

Most of those designs in the OP belong in the upcoming Worst Anthropomorphic / Non-Human Character Designs thread.
Yep.

Lot of nostalgia cloud for something like this, family-friendly games ingrained in people's childhoods. Generally western developed games have terrible animal-character designs IMO. Most Rare character designs and C-grade Sonic ripoffs like Crash are really bad.

Of course the non human thread is the one with people talking about porn and people bragging about being a furry. I liked when anthropomorphic designs didn't have to be linked with specific cliques and fetishes at every opportunity. The possessive nature of like "this style belongs to us!" is pretty annoying.

The only reason I didn't make a proper post is because all my favourites have already been posted!

Also, trust me, Both the human threads have people doing exactly the same thing as me, because there are *lots* of attractive humans in gaming, and not *just* the "traditionally" attractive ones. (I know people head over heels for Roadhog, for example)

But if you must...

Journey's protag has a very elegant design.

In addition to being an iconic design, Bowser is one of the few characters that can pull off both evil and goofy.

GLaDOS isn't even humanoid, but she has so much personality. Really, all the robotic characters and turrets in Portal are fantastic non-human designs.

Gonna get flack for this but i loved the blocky redesigned characters from banjo kazooie nuts and bolts. Even more so than the original looks.

Not from me you're not. Probably one of the best character redesigns I've seen - it's slick as hell and gives them so much more of an immediate identity.

Been playing through Steamworld Heist which has some great designs, with Captain Piper being a standout:

Vortigaunts are weirdly appealing, despite all the eyes and the vestigial arm:

I love the Rayman games but can't fucking stand his character design and I'm convinced the only reason people say it's good is because of nostalgia.

Ecstatica had also some deceivingly cute enemies
A neighbourhood friend of my brother's had a demo of this game. Maybe it's because they didn't have any sound on their machine so it was all eerily silent, but it's one of my earliest memories of a game really frightening me.

So anyway, that frightening game has evil squirrels wearing bright red neck-high sweaters, huh?

I find it sad that this game hardly got any buzz around here. That one trailer thread just had most people calling it an Undertale ripoff, lol
I like the happy/goofy designs of most characters in that game

Music actually makes game even scarier. A short glimpse of the OST:

You even get to kill some monks in a monastery later on.

Squirrel is the main hero transformation if you mix some spells.
But it was really first game I played to combine cute creatures with adult violence and humor. In fact I havent seen anything similar, excluding anime blobs
