Upcoming Vita Games (~200+ Upcoming games in ENGLISH) || 2017 Edition ||

Pretty nice guy (apart from the blue shadows thing...)
Just reading the talk about a US/EU Minecraft Vita bundle -- I too cannot fathom why this didn't happen. It's not like Sony had completely given up on Vita in the west by 2014, Gio Corsi's indie-centric model was still in full effect. It could have boosted the user base for those titles immensely. There's a reason Japan has two completely separate Minecraft bundles... It's the bestselling Vita game in that region by a factor of three, with 1.2 million copies, and the bundles sure helped. Sigh.

The notion that Microsoft wouldn't allow it is silly, too, given that they have no mobile platform and that continuing DLC would only put money in their pockets.

I think at the time Sony was scared that kids would buy minecraft vita and then migrate over to the Xbox when minecraft 2 inevitably came out for it.

It's not the same in Japan where Xbox has zero brand appeal and handhelds do way better than consoles.

Microsoft is completely non-existent in the west as a handheld vendor, so what's the point of this discussion again?

In Japan Microsoft has actually something to gain from allowing their IP, i.e. Minecraft, to be used on other platforms.

For them it's either not selling any consoles, and not selling any of their games, or... not selling any consoles, and selling at least some games through other platforms.

With the Vita being a relevant platform in Japan, it could even be a gateway for Microsoft to future access to the Japanese gamer wallet. If they made Minecraft II a (timed) platform-exclusive to their next platform, it might actually end up being a system seller, something which they have always been lacking dearly in Japan.

In its home market, Microsoft has little to gain from Vita Minecraft bundles. The Vita has never really been relevant. Handhelds (dedicated gaming devices) have become less relevant than home consoles anyway in the West.

Lol. Never mind, I regret wading in if this is the discussion!

OT: There's been a Gintama teaser released that basically shows nothing except a tiny bit at the end... and it looks a little like it'll be One Piece: Burning Blood reskinned:

Oh I'm sure it would have happened if Microsoft haven't bough Minecraft. Remember that PS4/Vita versions were contracted before that happened.

Can I get some buying advice? I'm looking to pick up a vita game. I have it down to:

The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel
Fate/Extella: The Umbral Star
Tokyo Xanadu
xblaze lost memories

of those, the only one i really know about is LoH... I played maybe 2 hours of the PSP game and liked it, but need to go beat it. So I guess it's a trilogy? Makes me want to wait since I need to beat the psp one first.

The others I don't know a thing about. I like deep combat systems, drpgs, etc, but also enjoy action oriented like d*souls, etc.

[I'm also picking up a couple other games I know I want, like Op Babel, but I want to 'branch out' and get something not on my main radar.

Tokyo Xanadu is closer to what you like.

Yeah, Tokyo Xanadu is fun, but don't forget to play Trails of Cold Steel I&II!

I have some trouble shooting for you, please, Vita Gaf. I decided to replay through the Symphony of the Night PS Classics but every so often the Vita completely freezes for a second and then recovers. It eats button presses, sounds stop, etc when it freezes but it always recovers after a second. It doesn't seem to be tied with screen transitions, lots going on in gameplay, or songs looping.
I don't remember it doing this last time I played through SotN. I hadn't used my Vita in months and it made me re-enter the date when I first turned it on (but it still had all my settings and save files just fine), but after updating the firmware, fully charging the battery, and even sticking it in airplane mode in case it was a network thing, it's still randomly freezing.
Any thoughts?

I had this problem with Tekken 2. Rebuild database didn't work; I had to re-download the game.

Speaking of Play-Asia - they just raised the price of the Neon Orange Slim Vita Console by ~US$70 ($272) now...

WELP!

The end is near. Prices are going to start creeping up as supply starts to dwindle down.

I finally pulled the trigger on a second Vita 2000; a glacier white with the black screen trim & black thumb sticks. It was only $205 shipped with my Amazon Prime. Also picked up a backup 32 GB memory card. Thankfully my 64 GB card is still going strong.

That's the one I want but might have to settle for any color my store gets.

I'm just waiting for them to get one, cause its about US$50 less than if I import. But I hate sitting here waiting for them knowing they're starting to slow down production now. Luckily its just a backup, so its not that big of a deal but ill probably pull the trigger either way in a month or so.

Gintama: Project Last Game is getting PS4 Asian English release. I am guessing they passed on Vita release.

Bummer. Although if it's a One Piece Burning Blood reskin, I can live without that.

edit: So I flat-out asked Bamco Asia's Twitter about it and got this:

https://twitter.com/BandaiNamcoSEA/status/886890456826523648

We'll let you know if anything comes up about that. Please stay tuned!

"Please stay tuned" is more promising than I had hoped.

I actually wish i picked up a second psTV when they were dirt cheap. I love mine so much. I kind of want a second vita just in case too, since I already had one wrecked... but can't justify that much on a backup.

I hope Sony eventually gives us a long term way of continuing to play [digital] PSP/vita games on newer devices. I mean, I guess I'm asking for a vita 2 [psp 3, whatever] which i know is a lot to ask...

I finished a review of Ratchet: Q Force, for anyone interested:

https://kresnik258gaming.wordpress.com/2017/07/17/vita-ratchet-clank-qforce-review/

Not the best Ratchet game, nor the best Vita port. Still kinda fun though.

I had such a blast w/ this game [Full Frontal Assault in the US]. It got such a bad rap for some reason, but I dug it. I even found people online to get the trophies long after release. I'm glad I'm not particularly sensitive to frame rate drops, and don't really care about textures or what not, because I've had so much fun with games a lot of people completely wrote off.

Well, that is something. I'll chortle hard if it is just a Burning Blood reskin, because the press announcement for the game stressed the Last part and B-N not-so-subtly hinted this was their final major licensed Vita game, and the intention was to deliver the best visuals that had ever been seen on the platform.

No, I'm actually being 100% serious XD

Sure would be awesome if it did somehow turn out to be true...!

I enjoyed it too. I think I might actually bump up that score half a point, and I'm certainly not averse to loving games which have performance issues on Vita (see my Jak II review). I think I was just a bit grumpy when I wrote it lol.

I just have other issues with Q-Force. Its story is cack; there's a real lack of content etc. I did actually platinum the game on PS3, I just wish there had been more of it. Also I wish there was a way to play the online mode with bots, then I'd REALLY love it.

I... don't quite get it. I though the "Last Game" part was just a play from the Gintama universe? Did they really tease it would be their last licenced game for Vita?

And I do remember them saying about the impressive visuals, but I presumed that was across all platforms (therefore mostly referring to PS4), not anything specific to Vita?

The "Last" part refers to, yes, Gintama being officially over, but the producer also used it primarily for the "best visualz evar" statement and then went into a "Bandai Namco has had a long history with animation games on Vita, and we want to celebrate with blah blah..."

It was hard not to read between those lines. I'll go find the article when I'm doing the JP news site rounds tonight :3

No mention of this yet?

http://www.eastasiasoft.com/index.php/games/playstation-4/tachyon-project

Gameplay trailer: https://vimeo.com/128739848

Tachyon Project is a dual stick shooter heavily inspired by classic shoot ‘em ups. A combination of a large variety of weapons, many unique enemy types, power-ups and innovative gameplay ensures a long-lasting challenge with new discoveries at every level.

In Tachyon Project, you will take control of Ada, a software program that was designed to hack into the most secure servers on Earth, but has also attained consciousness. After some rather mysterious events, Ada is thrown out from the test server where she was living and out into the internet. However, Ada soon discovers she is unable to return to the test server. She'll then start a journey to uncover the truth behind what happened to her creators, whom she considers her parents. In the process, she'll find out that things were a bit more complex than she initially thought.

Ooh, ooh, ooh! I forgot to post that I finally got myself a Vita! Woo-hoo! It's so nice, a 2000 Japanese one, black-pink, cute AF.

The games I picked so far are:
- Persona 4 Golden (the reason why I wanted Vita in the first place)
- Persona Dancing All Night
- Muramasa Rebirth
- Ys Memories of Celceta
- Tales of Hearts R

Congrats on the vita and welcome to the club! Those games are a great start!

Did you end up getting one in your country or importing one?

Did they ever confirm the physical version of Digimon Story???

The closest we got was this:

Digimon Story: Cyber Sleuth - Hacker's Memory will be available both physically and digitally for the PS4 and PS Vita in early 2018.

Thankyou! I had to scour one of our biggest eletronic malls to find a decent one, but it turned out in the end!

Thank you! I've completed the original one on PS2 a couple of times, but I always had an itch for Golden.

I have Tearaway on PS4, I believe, haven't tried it yet. Will look into Soul Sacrifice Delta, haven't heard about this one.

I also plan to get all of the Trails of Cold Steel eventually, because I heard a lot of praise for that series.

The Asian physical release of Ys Origin is delayed to September 7th according to Play-Asia.

Well, if LRG beat them to the punch, then I'll be getting that version, despite the free shipping deal I got on the P-A pre-order.

edit: Orrrr can you even cancel Play-Asia pre-orders? Can't see anything anywhere on the page about it and the internet isn't giving me promising answers.

I had to email them at enquiry@play-asia.com for them to cancel it.

That's what they direct you to if you use their form on the web page.

Anyways I'm glad I cancelled that, what is up with that 4 month delay.

I'll probably only cancel it once we have a date for the LRG version, but since they're entering production now I assume it won't be long off.

Cheers for the heads up. Bit of a hassle to have to e-mail them to do it, but at least there's a way!

If you look at replies to that production tweet, Josh mentions that the 25th of August is when they currently have it planned for.

Making this more obvious ahead of me posting the product page - Ys Origin will be on sale for PS4/Vita on August 25th!
