PlayStation VR Thread 2: Reloaded

So quick question about Brookhaven; the weapon and item upgrades. Are they randomly spawned throughout the levels or do they pop up automatically on each level? Like you'll always get weapon x on level Y? I feel like I'm having a bear of a time beating the sewers.

In the Story there is 1 new gun per level. You have to shoot an object that is shimmering on the map. Then you keep that gun for good in the story no matter what level you play.

------------

So re-review time on Brookhaven with the Aim + Brightness Patch.

It's really good, the tracking is really good and popping headshots in easy.

Too easy in fact. I know that maybe a weird complaint but if you get the SKS and get the laser sight, Survival becomes a cake walk and it becomes less, how long can you survive and more how long can you bear to keep going?

Which brings out an issue that wasn't as prevelent before but is now a big issue.

Survival kind of sucks. It's nice at first but because of the lack of any bosses or 'special' rounds. It becomes way too boring. Not to mention some of the later monsters don't even spawn on some of the maps like the Town Square. Then there's the fact that there's only 3 areas for Survival.

I would love a Survival 2.0 update that fixes these issues.

Or Brookhaven 2. I'd take that as well.

Can I play Race the Sun in VR, if I got the free PSN Plus version of the game that came out before PSVR?

I've let my PSN+ subscription lapse, so I can't launch it to see.

dofry

That's "Dr." dofry to you.
Finally got to try PSVR. I forgot my friend owns one so he gladly borrowed me the whole thing for two weeks. Compared to Vive, the resolution is worse of course but the colours pop more and the games seem to be a bit more full.

I have such a tiny apartment so I have difficulties doing mostly anything so I guess I have to try and rearrange my furniture. Tracking for my Dualshock 4 was good in my place but at my friends place, it seemed to lose tracking and swivel to the left in Playroom demos. Might be camera placement issue, I fixed mine so it doesn't move.

I am really liking it but now I am at loss what to try on it. I do not have extra funds to buy a lot of stuff, so I need some solid recommendations that I will surely like, ore any of the free stuff.

I hate horror stuff. Kitchen demo made me feel really uneasy. Is the whole Biohazard 7 like that demo? I also had difficulties in Alien Isolation even in 2D, so if VR Biohazard 7 is the same, then I will NOPE the hell out of that.

Anyway, loving it.

Resi7 has a "real" demo in there too, the Kitchen one is only fixed perspective. You can try to move around in the real demo and see if you get motion sickness.

Besides Resi7, i have gotten most playtime out of and can easily recommend by controller/space requirement:
Battlezone (dualshock)
Dirt VR (dualshock)
Driveclub VR (dualshock)

Arizona Sunshine (move)
I Expect You to Die (move)

Job Simulator (roomscale)
Batman VR (roomscale)
Farpoint (aim controller)

RE 7 is action orientated horror. You are able to put every enemie down for good eventually. Which is a huge difference to most modern horror games, were fighting back isn't an option. But don't underestimate the horror aspects though. The games is very brutal, has some jump scares and it made me feel uneasy all the time. Try the RE 7 (non VR) demo if you are uncertain.

Batman VR is a very good Single Player experience. Playing it while standing and with motion controls is nessacary though. 10/10 imo. The downside is the price with 20€ for 3-4h gameplay.

I was able to buy rush of blood for 10€ on amazon. Great price for a very good on rail shooter. It is horror themed though. Try the VR demo before buying. Playable with DS4 and motion controls.

Star Trek Bridge Crew is an awesome MP experience, especially with friends. Can't recommend this one enough, I really feel like sitting in a holodeck. Works with DS4 and motion controls, but motion controls are the way to play this one.

Thumper is a very good on rails rhythm-action game. There is a free demo available (on the demo pack on PSN).

Get the Demo Pack from PSN (same content as the demo disc). Try the games on there.

Superhot VR is a very fun puzzle action shooter (tried the vive version). Motions controls and standing is necessary and it is again 20 bucks for 3-4h.

Well, this game came out of nowhere, lol:

Well after months of sitting on the sidelines and watching everyone else enjoy their PSVR units I finally dove in and got one. I was still a wee bit hesitant on the price but an opportunity came by to get one from an auction site and save about $250 CDN off the retail price so I couldn't resist. Unfortunately it is an open box unit, so it might have some scuffs but so long as the lenses are pristine I don't care. Will have to wait a few days for delivery but I can't wait!

I already tried PSVR when they demo'd them in stores last year so I know what to expect. I've got my PS4 Pro Destiny bundle pre-ordered. Now time to start amassing games.

Also ordered this stand for the unit:

For lens cleaning, what's the current popular option? I know many people were talking about lens brushes, but what's everyone using?

Lens brush is a must. Haven't needed any cleaning liquids since.

Nice. I'll admit I haven't had much time to research the subject, but at least one friend who also bought a PSVR from the same auction site said he wouldn't trust the lens brushes for fear of scratching the lenses. I'll do my own research of course, but so long as you keep the brushes clean and don't press too hard I don't imagine it should be a problem.

i just spit on the lenses and rub it off with my shirt, works fine.

kidding of course. i use the blue cloth and bottle of whatever chemical that came with the headset.

What's awesome about Dirt Rally is you can play any and every race or mode in VR. It's not a paired down experience like Drive Club VR is (correct me if I'm wrong?). Graphically it's also a lot better looking, less fuzzy generally, and the guardrails for minimizing motion sickness are all very good/helpful (and can be disabled if you have good VR legs).

The only knock against Dirt Rally is it is HARD. You will lose a lot before you finally get the hang of things. I haven't played Drive Club VR other than the demo, so I can't speak to its difficulty in comparison.

Can you turn off the blackout mode when you crash now? That is the only thing that annoyed me about it when I tried it...

I think I made a mistake: I preordered Superhot VR and don't own Moves... I really thought you could play it with two DS4s! Of course, I downloaded the game straight away, so it's not refundable :(

Toma

Let me show you through these halls, my friend, where treasures of indie gaming await...
There is a simple remedy for that... :]

Haha, but yeah, if you have a PSVR headset, you should get 2 moves anyway.

Yeah, you're right but I didn't save 5€ in order to spend 90 more... I think I'll cut my losses, sadly. Unless they are absolutely mandatory for several other great games?

You are seriously missing out on the best experiences by only playing with the dualshock. I know 90 bucks is a lot, but Tethered, Batman, Dino Frontier, several shooting games, Fruit Ninja, etc. It just adds so much.

Obviously you couldn't have played the game yet. And Sony CS is very much ymmv, I would just try to ask for a refund. Also, it's up for preload?!

They are exactly that. Even with games that support DS4 like Batman or UD Rush of Blood I consider move to be essential. It will only become more integral to PSVR in the future.

Also, where do you live that you have to cough up 90 euros for a twin pack? It sits at €70.55 on Amazon here in Germany, and they ship to foreign countries for a small fee, but most probably your local instance had the same or better price.

Have you launched it? I had this issue before with Bloodborne that I had downloaded but was bought the disc copy. Support said as I hadn't launched the game they could remove the licence and refund. Might be worth contacting them.

France,Paris by the looks of things

https://www.amazon.fr/dp/B01LVWSNN4/ €63.50

and yes they are well worth it for other games as mentioned on here already.

most games are best with two Moves.

can recommend these right out the gates:

job simulator
rush of blood
dick wilde
mortal blitz

I just got a new patch for Brookhaven this morning. It resolves some anti aliasing issues. But the problem for me is that my knife doesn't do anything anymore. Each swipe at the enemy goes right through them.

Buy them. They will change your perception on what VR is and can do entirely. I was the same. I experienced VR without motion controls at first and was blown away after playing batman VR with them for the first time. Motion controls weren't a game changer for 6th generation of consoles but they sure are for VR.

Pro tip. You can still sometimes find new ps3 move bundles for cheap like the PS3 move fitness bundle (was 45€ new the other weak on amazon, sold out now).

I downloaded that Call of Duty spaceship demo and holy shit was that fun. I really, really want a full game like that. Is there any more if you buy the full game? How close is Eve? And I looked in the store and didn't see anything but is there anything else like it?

Also, I keep reading that Dirt VR is a lot better than DriveClub but not why. Are the graphics just a lot better? I love racing games and I've been having a lot of fun with DC VR, I'm tempted to get Dirt but GT Sport is right around the corner, curious how exactly Dirt is more impressive before I spend more money on games.

I'd say Dirt Rally VR is the better driving game but Driveclub VR is the better racing game. DCVR has better internal car details but runs at a lower resolution. DCVR has full VR menus and more environment details (leaves blowing in the wind, birds etc). Of the two I prefer DCVR but I'm more into racing than simulation driving.

Oh and they're both complete games, DCVR lost a few cars due to license issues and there's only 8 cars per race rather than 12 but all the tracks and game modes are in there.

I have two old moves with dead batteries in them. If you're willing to do a battery replacement on them (apparently cheap and easy), then I don't mind giving them to you.

I need to send you a couple of challenges. Only trophy left for the Platinum in VR. I'll do drifts ;)

It's worth a try to call CS and ask nicely. Sony has refunded me twice for things I bought by accident, not preorders either but a game and a subscription.

Any tips on cleaning? I've got a good lenspen (air duster first) but it seems to just smear the grease around. Am I supposed to be breathing on the lense first?

I just breath on the lenses then use the cloth that was inside the box... they don't look perfect but I don't any dust or blur during gaming, so...

Thanks all, I will try to contact Sony then... unless I listen to the GAFers below! I was able to preload the game in France, FYI.

Thanks for the advice and the tips! I just canceled a Switch preorder, so I'll have to see how much I can spend, but these are more reasonable already.

Wow, GAF steps up, as always. Thanks, I'll PM you:)
