I don't think a dedicated thread for LFG requests is necessary and if the issue was that Discord has reduced the activity level in this thread on the whole, I don't think further fragmentation into mulitple threads would help.

LFG requests weren't actually ever the majority of posts in an OT statistically speaking, even if it may have felt like because of the sheer volume of posters participating. What those posts did accomplish, to the community's benefit in my opinion, was bump the thread frequently and successively even if there was no "news" to discuss, which enabled lively discussions and sustained engagement- even if sometimes hard to follow. I can sympathize with the idea that it cluttered the thread, and the speed and volume of discussion did lead to a lot of repeated questions and retreading of ideas, but then this in turn led to the creation of FAQs and guides to address common topics, which were able to help out a greater number of individual posters than a slower-paced thread would have in total.

If having LFG posts within the thread is actually frowned upon by the mods or anything then a dedicated thread is a good idea because I will never expect everyone in the community to use Discord. But if not, I always considered them a net positive.

Since there are ~12 hours left to the beta, here are my thoughts on OT versus Discord.

Discord is harder to keep up with since you have to be there in real time, sure, but there are search functions and pins and it's a lot easier to get stuff going right away and to have IRT discussions. With that being said, the OT will always be a great place for in depth discussions, posting your thoughts, and trying to gather those that aren't in Discord.

About the "circle jerk", no matter where you go online or in real life, you'll inevitably find groups of people that get along really well. Now let me further elaborate on DestinyGAF Discord. Those of us that are active chatters in the general channel aren't circle jerking, it's simply called friends talking to each other. *None of us* ever ignore / not to talk those that aren't regular chatters and we always welcome those that are either new or those that only hop in once every few days/weeks/months, whatever the case may be.

Now, there's a difference when you have an expectation of it being an LFG replacement. It ALWAYS depends how popular the game is whether or not you get a reply when looking for a group and what exact activity. During expansions and big updates, there is no shortage of people to play with. It also depends on the time of day. If you go in once or twice and LFG for something that isn't popular atm and get no response, that really isn't a good example of what DGAF is, IMO. However, if you need help with something and people are around / playing, you'll have better luck. Currently, D1 is fairly dead so looking for anything is going to be extremely difficult.

In the end, it matters what you want it for: a place to hangout with friends and talk about anything (general), to discuss Destiny (Destiny2 and sometimes general), or lfg, it's available to all and we're always welcoming all of DGAF. Both places are great and both will move extremely fast once the Beta goes live and even faster when Vanilla D2 releases, and I hope to see you all out there!

Sorry, but there is no "circle". There's only what you perceive to be. I enjoy posting everywhere. Here or discord. You choose yourself to not join in other places and that's fine. But I'm kind of sick of you ragging on discord and the like when we're all part of one Community. I don't appreciate it.

If your worried about this place staying quiet for D2. Those fears are quite unfounded. I don't post here a lot, because I have nothing to say that's considered on topic. I still enjoy talking to its members tho and where can I do that? Discord, It's basically the one reason I post there. To stay in touch with DGaf members. Now that D2s coming out.... well obviously there will be a lot more content to talk about and that equals more of us in the OT etc.

Oh, but I am on discord. I understand you wouldn't notice though. Because every time I do post something it gets lost in an ongoing conversation about food, movies or just a wall of gifs.

Other topic, I heard the beta may be extended for a day or two, is true or just some fan rumors hoping for more time? I may miss the Xbox launch time but still want to play the beta.

So the thirst is real. After playing Byf's lore videos in my car, just to listen to, I've now started listening to Guardian Radio's podcasts to try and quench my thirst.

Any other podcasts I should check out?

Why is everyone around here so afraid about negativity? I mean, it's not even negativity most of the time, it's just opinion about several topics given by different members.

It, sometimes, leads to great discussion and understanding each other pov.

LFG - One stop destination to find games - we have @PS4 and @XBOX tags to help

The rest is just other topics, some get used quite a bit while others get stagnant at times.

Discord is quite structured now and is only going to be what you make of it. Sure, when you first join you may feel like you are not part of "The Circle" but you have to keep in mind, people who are active have been in there since day 1, we all have been playing Destiny together for years and have become Internet friends. Jump in and insert yourself in the convo.
