Marvel announces Iron Fist season 2

Iron Fist was pretty lacklustre. However, all of the Marvel series so far have suffered from a bit too much bloat in places. I think they'd be better off doing 10 episodes of higher quality rather than stretching the storylines out to 13 with less of a budget for each. The thinness is palpable.

Admittedly Into the Badlands is going for more of that heroic cinema thing, but the fights in that pissed all over the BS they had going on in Iron Fist. Hell, even the recent episodes of Preacher have had better fights.

If you're going to make a series about a kick ass martial artist, he needs to kick ass. I'[m certainly prepared to give IF a second chance, but they definitely need to raise their game and fuck off with all the really hokey eye rolling shit like the fights with the spider lady or the drunken fighter guy sat in a doorway (some lamentable stuff going on right there).

Problem with season one seemed more direction and writing than Jones (not that he was perfect). And while he does need to get in some more martial arts instruction, he had good chemistry with Colleen. Lastly, some of the supporting cast did manage to deliver despite the mess, especially Ward. So I'm up for season two.

The script and dialogue was always a weird one for me.

Ward was such a fascinating, well written, multi-dimensional character. He had great moments, funny lines, some of the stuff with Ward by himself was really, really, freaking good. Tom Pelphrey is a damn good actor as well.

It was just so bizarre that the stuff with Danny was so boring and uninteresting in contrast.

Man that was the biggest surprise and disappointment to me. Everything with Danny just sucked so much that I was always relieved when the show went back to the goddamn corporate drama because that was more engaging and Ward actually had some character progression.

I really wanted to like the first season but it was tough to sit through, atleast season 2 can only be an improvement.

Make the show a kung-fu show and not a fucking company drama. Stop using the Iron Fist like he doesn't know how to use it, he should be turning it on for every single fight. Why give him an iPod, establish he uses the music to train and then never bring it up again? Make him use it during fights.

Stop "grounding" shit, Scott Buck. Better yet, don't invite Scott Buck again.

I'll skim through it before the next Defenders season.

Strangely enough it was the Meachum drama that stopped my brain from rotting watching it.

So the only real bad thing about Iron Fist Season 1 was the bad choreography? Everything else was fine?

nah its mediocre all around. Still completely watchable tho imo, it wont give you retina cancer like some people say.

No, there was also bad acting, bad casting, bad script, bad effects, bad plotting, bad intro that looks like it's from a PS2 game and a few other other things. It is really one of the most execrable things I've ever sat through.

The writing, acting and dialogue is so bad that I was sympathetic towards board members wanting to profit off a drug vs Iron Dumb Fist selling it at cost.

No it was not, there were a number of problems. That was likely the most pressing issue given it's supposed to be a martial arts show but Daredevil had considerably better martial arts fights.

No, far from it. But it wasn't bad like what GAF want you to believe.

I do agree with this, though. You'd think it was one of the worst shows ever made but it's biggest sin is just being so fucking uninteresting. If you watch it, you'll look back and not really give a fuck about anything you just watched. Marvel very clearly rushed it out.

Get a new show runner, hire a good fight coordinator, have the main star put on more muscle (but he doesn't need a movie superhero physique as a martial artist), and throw in more mystical stuff.

I had no problems with Finn Jones. He was just stuck acting in a Scott Buck joint. With a better showrunner and choreography, I expect even better things from him.

Pretty much how I feel. I could see season 2 being very good if handled properly.

The fact that a show about a kung fu master had some of the lamest action scenes in an action show currently running was a goddamn sin.

And then the shitty script on top of that? ohhhh nooooooo

New showrunner, spend actual time on fight choreography, and MAYBE I'll be willing to give this another shot. Until then? Hell naw.

I mean, describing something as "fucking uninteresting" isn't exactly better. Hell, that's arguably a bigger sin, since being completely bored is kind of worse than watching something that's say, bad but still entertaining. I don't even really blame the hyperbole that gets occasionally used, cuz well, it's not really not that far off. Like the primary reason a person would likely watch it despite all the negative reviews is out of obligation in order to be prepped for Defenders, as it is the last show to come before it. I couldn't say that about the previous shows, I enjoyed them on their own, even though they weren't perfect either. (Luke Cage's 2nd half for example)

The end of Season 1 was the biggest middle finger a show has ever given its audience.

I don't see how Season 2 can fix this.

Being aggressively boring is one of the worst things a show that's meant to be binge-watched can be. Even if Netflix's model means that some episodes in the other Marvel shows are filler or drag on during the middle, the other shows as a whole were at least able to leave some kind of impression on me.

Fuck who cares about Danny

Marvel TV head Jeph Loeb made the announcement at San Diego Comic-Con on Friday. In addition, Loeb hinted that Colleen Wing (Jessica Henwick) would team up with NYPD detective Misty Knight (Simone Missick), who first appeared in Season 1 of “Luke Cage.” The characters previously partnered together in the Marvel comic books.
