The Captain Marvel movie might be better then me thought and more important

It was one of the thoughts I had after the announcement.
Golden Age characters are too often tied to their era to be easily removed from it, while most Silver Age characters are also the modern characters, meaning they and everything that stemmed from them has to be kept in the recent past. It creates something of an abnormality for WW2 to be this one spurt of superhuman activity but every dies down after. Marvel's method of filling in that gap is going to help alleviate that I think, and make it more into a continual aspect of just how this universe is.
Curious to see how DC handles it on their hand.
Edit: Oh, and it enables them to potentially scale back stories or return to periods were some sense of astonishment is more to be expected, rather than a post-Avengers world where the cat's kinda out of the bag.

I suppose Secret Invasion does make a lot of sense for a Phase 4 Avengers film. I'd had my money on it being Dark Reign personally, but that could always come at another time.

they can use skrulls, just not super skrull. More specifically they cannot use a skrull with the F4 moveset.

I love the "secret" Marvel stuff. Now I want Fox to do an X-Men picture that featured the "B" team that Xavier wiped from people's memories.
A space movie..., set in the 1990's. That sounds..., interesting.
No doubt the ending of the film will revolve around an Interstellar esque wormhole that allows her to defeat the baddies but she won't be able return to Earth until present day. Save the Earth, but everyone she loves will have moved on without her.
Just like seminal sci-fi novel Forever War which was an allegory for the horrors and alienation that soldiers returning from the Vietnam war experienced ..., except awful.

God I'd love for Dark Reign to be a Phase of the MCU. Damn shame they don't have Doom or Namor, but bringing in the Hood would be great. Dean Winters would be amazing as Parker Robbins.

Well Secret Invasion's ending led directly into Dark Reign. So if they're trying to follow this storyline then they will need some time to build up Norman Osborn instead of jumping right into Dark Reign / Siege.

Wait a minute, it's set before Iron Man? I'm not sure how they can explain away superheroes not being in the public consciousness at all in the MCU pre-Iron Man if Carol was active before then.
Carol is the 4th captain Marvel and least deserving of the name. She started as Ms.Marvel a sidekick to the first Captain Marvel. There is the new Ms.Marvel(the third but that is a long story)

I saw some folks elsewhere suggest that maybe either Happy or Maria Hill might be a Skrull. Not sure on either of those options personally, but General Ross being a Skrull makes a ton of sense.

That's Carol in her pre-'Captain' days. The new Ms. Marvel, technically unrelated in anything but name, is Kamala Khan.

Yes and no. The current Captain Marvel used to be called Ms.Marvel. There is another Ms. Marvel at the moment but she's just a lame teenage fan with stretchy powers who took the name because Marvel Comics sucks at making new characters without riding the coattails of previous ones.
