Might buy some coins later, I don't have enough traps. Are hero llamas rare on rotation? No doubt they'd be more expensive but I need better hero variety for my high teir ones.

What happens when you wear out your legendary gear? Can you craft it again?

edit: nm, just got answered a few posts above.

I've had terrible luck with loot. Lots of legendary survivors, but nothing above rare for Heroes, and only two epic weapons; a sniper and a pistol.

Can you ever transform stuff into epics or better? I don't see a skill unlock for it. Not even sure what the point of transforming is, compared to recycling/retiring.

they main thing is not evolving too soon. But since you cannot evolve until you get to plankerton... you can't turn your copper weapon into silver before getting to plankerton. But you might be low on silver so be careful. I wrote a tip in the opening post but I mislabeled it rarity I think.

Do legendary weapons have set upgrade stats? I got a good rifle but it oddly has two upgrades for fire rate which is, didn't know if there was a chance to find the same legendary blueprint but with different upgrade bonuses.

Bonuses can vary greatly even on legendary weapons. I think the exception is heroes always getting the same abilities.

After the servers went dead yesterday today is the first time I can really try out the game.

Look out for my soon to come questions OT

I have probably put in 10+ hours into this and there are still things that confuse me.

The latest is the evolution of weapons, I unlocked an weapon evolution ability in the skill tree and was fully expecting to evolve my epic sniper only to find I couldn't. The ability I unlocked seems to be for something else totally different which allows you to use materials to craft weapons. I don't think you can unlock level 2 weapons until the second tier skill tree?

This game is overwhelming.

This game is pretty rad. Not sure how I feel about the monetization system just yet, but it's been fun so far and gorgeous to look at.

Yup, not possibly until skill tree 2 sadly. Leveled my weapon to 10 to find out I can't even evolve it yet lol

Can you farm blasting powder (needed to craft alot of the guns)? If so, where? Is it black coal nodes in the mines/caves etc? I see you get some from recycling other guns which is what I'm doing at the moment.

It's craftable, go in your backpack and it should be above the duct tape. Don't remember the two items it needs but look in the menu.

So the whole copper/silver etc. thing weapons have in their name, is that an additional rarity thing or is it a quality thing (stars)?

edit: Nvm, answered above!

My current legendaries:

- Judge something. A pistol that would made Dirty Harry happy. Good because in the low tier meta makes sense to use a powerful pistol.
- Some dragon themed pistol shotgun (?). Is a pistol shotgun. 2 shots. I would not normally use a weapon like this, but shooting to the face murder some things faster than other options.

Interesting Purples/Blues:
- A weird curved machete. Fast swing, good damage.
- A grenade launcher. Not tried yet, seems good for groups of mobs. The grenades don't seems to damage buildings. Need more testing.

I really need better weapons.

I got not mythics, and I would not even know they exist if not where for reading reddit.

Doh! Will look tonight. As others have said - the tutorial on this game is awful. Hopefully in a few months Reddit will have it covered.

So should I upgrade my "blue" hero if in the next pinata I can get "purple" version of him? Won't I regret it because of lost exp?

From what I know some part of XP will be refunded but how much? And will it be refunded if I put hero on my collection book?

What's up with this weird-ass pricing scheme, I was excited for the game but I'm not buying it if this is how they're going to sell it.

What's weird about it? Base game, base game with free guns and Llamas or a pack you can share with a friend.

A few games are doing that at the moment.

Upgrade, I believe. You can always dissasemble a hero and get back the experience invested in it.

But the likelihood of getting the exact same hero are low. Is probably a bad idea to break a hero to upgrade a different one, but to me breaking a hero to upgrade the same one of better quality seems a good idea.

Yeah, I think it's pretty good. The only thing that's questionable is the limited ($150) version, it should really contain 3 base game copies for friends, since it's a fucking 4-player co-op game. Borderlands 2 did the 4-pack on Steam for $150 at launch, no reason Epic can't here.

You can buy the $100,- upgrade for that that becomes available when you buy the $150,- version.

But still really enjoying the game, though I have a hard time predicting the pathing of the enemies which makes traps feel a bit useless sometimes.

how do you level a hero pass level 10?

Look in your skill tree (skill web?), theres a option to unlock level 2 in the end of a branch.

Just to confirm... there is no way to mess with your backpack /inventory in the starting menus, correct? Only while actually playing a map?

You can load your shield map base. Craft there stuff.

It make a lot of sense to load this map after every game to dump there the unused traps, do some crafting. You get experience for this, you may even level up with this! (you will not)

Just quit the group from the menu to abandon the level. Any change you make there is permanent.

Full breakdown of all PS4 Pro Enhancements over on the PS Blog. Might be worth adding to the OP:

You linked the wrong article.

All of this is important too, as – owing to 25% increase in draw distance – there’ll be more objects visible from greater distances and more detail to take in.

This sounds too useful. PS4 Pro, optimized for the Outlander Class.

The gameplay and concept are great and it's a lot of fun.
But man, I've never seen such a layer of (I'd say unnecessary) customizations and stuff to update, you can level just about everything and it doesn't bring much to the experience (passive bonuses that are pretty unsignificant usually).
Borderlands 2 had a loot / talent system that made much more sense, 5 years ago.

Gameplay is fun but all the systems are super confusing

My thoughts exactly.

I may be getting this Friday, so quick question. Can I have a decent amount of fun playing alone before jumping into the online fray?

In my experience you can't play alone per se, you will automatically be matched with other players in most missions.
I may have missed something but I am pretty positive on this.

^ Not noticed any issues yet today. Typical that I had just finished installing when the servers went fubar last night.

You sure? I've had 100% success switching from Public to Private in the ESC menu for solo exploring.

Not had too many games yet mind.

I have to test today to start a game [in private mode], ignore objectives, loot stuff, and quit without completing anything.

If that works may be a good way, if boring, to acquire loot without breaking other people game much.

how do you level a hero pass level 10?

click the hero card > Upgrade, click evolution. most likely you have to unlock the class evolution skill and meet the other requirement for it.

I'm on Stonewood Quest Page 9/10. hoping to get to the next area soon. probably should just farm for mats and build my fort in my storm base first. lol.

I was not aware of that option, does this work with the actual main questline missions or just when you randomly pick a mission to do on the map ?

If so, very good to know, thanks !

In my very limited experience this is the case. i see no reason why that would suddenly cease to be an option as I progress.

I'm having fun but trying to balance my enjoyment of exploring and looting with not pissing my teammates off in MP. I enjoy solo but it's a snail-like progression and I have yet to have a mission ruined in any way due to others on my team. That may well be down to the ridiculously easy (bases and traps are worth shit at some point?) challenge thus far (devs seemed caught off guard by players face-stomping their zombies?) but pugs are for now, enjoyable.

Thanks for the tips on schematics. i was about to upgrade an assault rifle beyond my reach.
i have no idea what survivors and people are for. Should I be seeing companions on missions? I'm still in the starter area I think, so maybe I should just crack on.

I only had a game where we lost because a dude was bad at the game. This dude decide to be a builder himself, and he made some questionable design decisions. He made a single wall all around the perimeter, with windows. Not doors.

It seems this design was terrible to defend, so the hordes destroyed our base easily.

But you know what? Is fine by me. People have to try different things, experiment. I like people trying new things.

Any tips as I'm about to dive in?

tips:
- do not use the collection book first until you know what you are doing. it consume schematics that are hard to get and important
- the first area is a tutorial, its suppose to be easy and chill
- upgrade whatever you like, you can always break it to get your xp back
- probably load your home base often to clean the inventory, place the traps still in your inventory
