Fairly Oddparents ends today.

People hated Poof? I thought that was a cute addition. Then again, I only remember the episode where they gave birth to him, so if he became insufferable or something as the show trudged on, then never mind lol

The poof centric episodes suck. And Anti-Poof who they ran into the ground. Basically was a kid friendly Stewie griffin. Like the one where he goes to fairy preschool and wants to get into the school play because of a girl he likes and fights with Anti-Poof over, and Timmy Cosmo and Wanda are barely in the episode

In the live action movies he did.

The live action movie yeah but I won't be shocked if they retcon them for the new girl.

No in the live action movies he got with tootie.

Like others have said, Channel Chasers was the perfect series finale and it should've ended there. Having said that, it was fine up to when the baby showed up.

Honestly, season 10 sounds kind of dire so it's probably best they end it. They added a new main character for basically no reason. I mean jesus, just look at this opening: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D56T-r3Dz28

That's like Pinky, Elmyra and the Brain levels of "our heart isn't in this anymore."

in the movies, i think so.
but have no idea about the show

IIRC Channel Chasers left it ambiguous as to whether or not Timmy married Trixie or Tootie. I think the live action movies had Timmy with Tootie.

Oh yea, I remember Anti-Poof being awful

You know what's funny is that all three of the live action movies are supposed to take place in the future but the first one doesn't have poof because it was made before that character was introduced but the last one does

Some speculated the writing was on the wall when the show got moved to NickToons (which is pretty much Nickelodeon's dumping ground and death row for shows that weren't instant hits), but I'm still in disbelief somewhat that Nickelodeon finally laid to rest a zombie of a show that was supposed to have already ended at least four times already (Abracatastrophe, Channel Chasers, Jimmy/Timmy Power Hour 3, and the live-action TV movies).

Between this and their TV special revivals of Zim/Arnold/Rocko, maybe this network actually is on its way to full recovery after all.

Though it's substantially more popular, I do wonder if this means they might finally call it quits on SpongeBob too after its tenth season, or at least after the third movie.

Five times. You forgot that huge, three part movie they had a few years back.

Aww, that's the longest running Nickelodeon show behind Spongebob.

I've seen some stuff from the more recent episodes (I guess they added another kid and a fairy dog) and while I'm not really a fan of those additions, this show will be missed. It was a big part of my childhood and I'll never forget it.

I hope the final episode is actually a last episode and the series gets a legit ending like Danny Phantom did.

Channel chasers really was the perfect ending to this show. That was such an awesome special with literally everything you could ask for from this type of show. And then instead it went for over a decade longer

Spongebob probably should have also ended with it's movie although there were some great episodes after that

Now what's the next step in your master plan?
Just a reminder that even though the Fairly Odd Parents is ending, Arthur is still going strong on PBS. Can't stop the aardvark.

It even had a epilogue of years later.

Didn't they do something stupid in later seasons where they reveal Timmy actually wished for everyone to stay young or something stupid, hence the show going on for so long?

IIRC Channel Chasers showed his daughter looking exactly like Tootie...but with Trixie's hairdo. I recall Butch using this as a way to please both sides and even as a kid it seemed so silly, it was obviously Tootie's kid lol

Timmy's Secret Wish, the canon-destroying tv special where is revealed that Timmy wished for no one to ever age and only he would be able to remember. He's had his faries for 50 years and he was the only one who knew. as punishment he loses his ferries gets aged up 50 years and somehow he doesn't forget that he has fairies and have to team up with Crocker to get them back

This really is a show that did it all and then some.

That is so dumb.

Why didn't they just end the show at Channel Chasers and why did Fairy Odd Parents get to keep going when Danny Phantom was ended too soon? :(

Even the kid thought Trixie was better.

Oh right, Wishology. Yeah, completely forgot about that.

Was that even good? They aired it around the time I stopped watching FOP, but I remember seeing so many ads for it. From the little I saw, it seemed ok.

This is amazing as I was just thinking about the Fairly Odd Parents yesterday.

... particularly about how Timmy absolutely did not deserve his. I mean sure at first (before the series) he was a sad kid, but man he just got more selfish, obnoxious and stuff as it went on.

Disney used to have the golden rule of 65 episodes.

65 was how a show got syndicated, because Disney was once more interested in pushing their shows onto Saturday Mornings, long ago.

For a broadcast network, 65 is the magic number to sell it to other networks (the ones that just do reruns like My Network TV) or cable channels.

I don't really understand why they thought it was a good idea to quadruple down on Timmy being unlikeable.

It feels like every show that lasts past its prime just forgets why people like the protagonist and just turns them into complete assholes.

Simpsons, Spongebob, and Fairly Oddparents all did this.

Didn't this show get really bad? Haven't watched it in over a decade.

I think the latest season had an episode where the fairies lost their wands and between them losing the wands and finding them again there's just a scene where they inexplicably have them and cast magic.

EDIT: HERE They lose their wands around 21:00, Cosmo has a wand and casts magic around 21:35, and then they finally get their wands back around 23:45.

To me it ended with the Jimmy Neutron crossover.

I think the first ending was the third Jimmy/Timmy Power Hour. Like it was Jimmy Neutron's ending too.

Agree with everyone it should've ended with Channel Chasers, much like SpongeBob should've ended with the 2004 movie.

This makes me wonder if Nick is ever coming close to putting Spongebob out of its misery. 20th anniversary is just 2 years away.

I have to imagine it's reached Simpsons status at this point

As bad as it is, it's too much of a beast when it comes to merch and ratings for it to ever stop.

Show was amazing up to and including Abracatasrophe - should have ended then or maybe a little bit after.

Damn, 20 years. Been a while.

Also this show legit lost me when they changed up Cosmo's voice and made him a manic idiot.

Just like they turned Patrick into a complete asshole.

Agreed. Both series should've ended in the early 2000s.

BatDan

Bane? Get them on board, I'll call it in.
I have to applaud this show for managing to jump the shark three times. Most shows can't even get to one.
Apparently the dog was so hated that they got rid of him in the next season for the girl.

Yeah, Channel Chasers should have been the end. Had all the ingredients.
The fact FOP lasted this long really shows that Nickelodeon is a mismanaged mess. They must have gotten new people in charge with all the revivals. Then again that Legends of the Hidden Temple movie looked lame.

Also this show legit lost me when they changed up Cosmo's voice and made him a manic idiot.

Cosmo always had the same voice. Unless mean the "evolution" from deep to higher-pitched. The same way Homer's voice changed.

Wut

That's not Timmy's mom, right?

A one-shot character named Carly. She showed up for a gag yet somehow has a following. I'm not kidding, I saw art on /co/

I didn't follow the canon and don't understand how the series complex fairy universe and lore were desecrated. All I know is, this show was bad. As a kid, this show was just boring and annoying.
