So, I was just trying to steal a [it's a monster you hunt]
Wyvern Wing from the Wyvern Lord
, but every time I've gone in to confront him, I've stolen some other, more common, item and been told that there were no more items.

Enemies only have one item you can steal from them, when you've stolen it, they have nothing else to steal

In the case of Wyvern Lord, there's only a 3% chance that item will be a Wyvern Wing

[55%] Yensa Scale
[10%] Crooked Fang
[3%] Wyvern Wing

With a Thief's Cuff equipped:

[80%] Yensa Scale
[30%] Crooked Fang
[6%] Wyvern Wing

Monsters have multiple items you can potentially steal, some rarer than others. You can only steal from a monster one time. For the specific item/monster you mentioned, you have a 3% of getting it from a successful steal.

So, basically I get one chance to steal the item, and if I don't get it (or rather, if I get the more common items instead) I have to run away a zone or two, and in order to reset the monster, and then run back?

... This is frustrating.

What gives?

It's a 3% steal chance, 6% if you have the Thief's Cuff equipped. Once you steal something on the loot table you can't steal it again, you can reset the ennemy and do another attempt.

Well, I knew about the steal rates for that particular monster (I looked it up!); I had just assumed that, like most any other RPG, those numbers described your success rate for stealing an item on any particular successful steal attempt. That's why it wasn't making any sense to me that after stealing only one item I was being told that the monster had no more items. I don't really get the logic of doing the mechanic this particular way, but it is going to make me stop doing Hunts until I have time to waste.

The really rare item for the Bazaar item that are worth the vast majority of them is the only thing stealable on the enemy which makes it easier like Damascus Steal, Scarletite etc

I'm in my late 50's. Where do you guys recommend I level up? The necrohol of nabudis is killing me not because of enemies but because of traps and idk where to get float.
In the deadlands there is a secret passageway that leads you to skeletons galore. Decent xp there with chance to earn gil. Then when your done with great crystal there is a good location in there with ghouls only for 2 screens that give tons of xp. But might be hard at 50s.

deadlands: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nmHJwVwyTqQ
great crystal(first few minutes of vod only): https://www.twitch.tv/videos/161782808

Im using the OP bow because I beat this game 100% about a year ago so I have no hard feelings doing the easy way this time lol.

The secret spot mentionned above is good there's also the deep part of Lhusu and Henne mine if you have access. Lots of etremely powerful items in there and the XP is quite decent.

Enemies only have one item you can steal from them, when you've stolen it, they have nothing else to steal

With Thief's Cuff you'll roll the chance to steal on every item and can end up with more than one of them; it's why the percentages add up to over 100%.

They'll still have nothing left to steal once you successfully steal anything from them once, though.

So, basically I get one chance to steal the item, and if I don't get it (or rather, if I get the more common items instead) I have to run away a zone or two, and in order to reset the monster, and then run back?

Man, what the hell the game suddenly got very hard.
I'm just at at the end of the Salikawood, I just defeated the Bomb King boss and the start of the Nabreus Deadlands there's some goblins that frigging wipe my team
. I'm doing something wrong? I'm on my way to
Archadia
.

That's not the way you should go. You should do the mooglequest and unlock the doors to Phon Coast.

That is an optional area.

That and the area after are very tough.

Man, trial 100...why does it feel like
5
vs1 is easier than
2
vs1?

I got around the end of the fight in really good shape...but I can't finish it...
I keep one asleep while I try to bash on another one but he always breaks free of the sleep either because one effin' AI companion doesn't follow a simple "attack foe with highest max HP" and STILL freaking takes a shot at him (he has less max HP so he shouldn't be targeted) , or because it wears off.
If I didn't have to worry about healing it would be easier to manage the sleep and attack but with the guy 3-4 shotting me, one character has to focus on healing.

I'm salty right now because of the amount of time I spent in one go trying to win the last part of the fight.
I need to stay away from the game for today and come back with less anger in me.

All superbosses in the actual game cleared now that I beat Omega.

Now just have to go all the way through Trial 100.. I am dreading it.

Man, seeing people talking about making sure to spawn rare game at some point, or steal some items from a hunt before killing it is frustrating my ambition to play this game without a guide. I like getting lost in the world and story, but knowing that at some point I will want to craft all the best gear means I'll have made my life really difficult unless I was aware of loot tables all along.

Anyone else having this conundrum? Is there a good middle ground, like a spoiler free guide for a hunt that just says "make sure to steal X"?

Yoshichan

And they made him a Lord of Cinder. Not for virtue, but for might. Such is a lord, I suppose. But here I ask. Do we have a sodding chance?

Someone was too busy looking at Fraans close up ass ;)

Just as you enter Nabudis, they tell you that's not the way to Archadia.

You can only steal once. If you don't get something, load the autosave again. Make sure you have the Thief's Cuffs accessory equipped and then switch once you get the item you want.

You don't have to go there to get to Archadia, the enemies there are pretty hard. Come back later once you are around level 60.

So I got three Seitengrat, but for some reason I can't equip them on some characters (Balthier and Ashe). I can equip if with Vaan, Fran and Bash, but those two are archers, while Vaan is a shikari/red mage. Why? I read Seitengrat doesn't need a license.

You need to have arrows for all of them.

Thanks, one last question: how can I change the weather in Giza? Because it's always raining and I need to complete an hunt here.

It changes over time, I think it's dry for 2 hours then rains for 1. The Seeq guy at the south gate tells you if it's close to changing

Or is it just one of Phil's balls in my throat?
Some more shots.

Man, Phon Coast is a breath of fresh air.

Is there a proper way to maximize quickening chains? Feel like i just get lucky with mist recharges sometimes. Best I've gotten is a 9 chain

Is Renew all that useful when Curaja heals for 9000+ on my weaker Magic characters?

Also Black Mage/MNK really comes into it's own late game. I rarely used Penelo much before. In fact best use was Poles let me hit Flying enemies, and I didn't think spells were all that. That starts to change somewhat once you get the Ga spells, but near the end once you unlock the WHM utility moves using Espers and get Holy/Scathe along with White Robes Penelo becomes a monster at both single target and AoE. The damage is insane. I pretty much don't need Balthier as my WHM/MCH anymore.

The 16 jars in Phon Coast was a series of clues for the location of the invisible weapons. Unfortunately, it only works in the original Japanese so its just a weird thing you can find in the english version.

Trickster is such a fun fight. It fights like a chocobo should, hit and run. Physical + elemental + status immunity is bullshit though, especially since he's spamming choco meteor the whole time. At least White Wind doesn't remove Blind, without that I'd have had to come back much later, with more health.

Cuchulain is pretty interesting too, a strange defensive battle where maintaining HP and Haste were top priorities. On my first attempt I somehow wiped in seconds after his flans appeared. The second time they were nothing. Weird. I wish I had fought him before losing Larsa. Double Cura spam with two attackers would probably make this piss easy.

This game still has the most Boring final Dungeon in the series, even with 2x speed on all the time.

Not the worst in the series, but most boring.

Just as you enter Nabudis, they tell you that's not the way to Archadia.

I mean, I won't lie, I do ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

But when you enter the Necrohol, you get the cutscene and tells you to go back. I assumed the way was to the north.

You don't have to go there to get to Archadia, the enemies there are pretty hard. Come back later once you are around level 60.

Yeah, they wiped me out quickly. Now I know I've to hunt all the moogles to open the door to Phon Coast

So I spent a good hour looking through the thread at job allocation suggestions and have settled on a plan. Looking forward to jumping back into Ivalice tomorrow.

Maybe I'm being dumb and admittedly I have zoned out from some of the cutscenes, but can someone explain how the characters are the number one enemies of the empire yet free to move around the country so freely and without fear?

There's been a few references to them needing to lay low and hide or do something incognito, yet on the whole they are just kind of at the front of everything.

...and that, kids, was the first time I sucked a dick for crack
When you add a second job, do you have the ability to use them simultaneously (i.e. use white magic and black magic in a battle)? Or do you have to switch between jobs every time you want to utilize its specialty?

Their actions are known but their faces mostly aren't. You can say the higher ups in the Empire who know Ashe is still alive want to keep it a secret and not make it public or put out wanted posters .. so it doesn't cause riots among the people, same reason why Ashe herself doesn't want to announce her return before she sorts stuff out.

Vaan and Panelo are just random orphans, no one knows who they are. Balthier and Fran are sky pirates so they're good at hiding their identities and Basch, like Ashe, was declared dead so no one's really looking for him.

When they say lay low, they mostly mean not take any actions that will cause them to get questioned etc, like taking the Strahl to Arcadia, the cut-scene when entering Phon Coast shows that the Empire has ramped up air patrol so un-authorized ships will probably not be welcome.

My Ashe is a time and white mage and I can utilize magics for both type at once, so you don't have to change classes each time you want to use a different type of magic.

Is that Shield even that good? I mean the only person who uses a Shield for me is Basch with Khumba since even though it's a Katana, it's technically a 1H sword and I just gave him the Genji Shield. Everyone else uses 2H. Mesa/Yagyu, Burning Bow, Excalibur/Tournesol, Fomalhaut, Kanya/Staff of Magi.

now you can go to sleep. rest easy

is it really that bad though?
My luck is SHIT with these things, it's a known fact. I once spent 15 minutes on a 20% chest, let that sink in for a while

1% chests usually take the average person 1-2 hours but me? Somewhere between 5-8 hours. Shit like this is common to me

Question! Did I screw up by making Ashe a Knight/TimeMage to fill role of healer? OP guide says that combo is good for heals, but I'm 15 hours in and she still has Cure.

Knight and Time Mage don't learn their higher level heals naturally, you need to use Esper unlocks to get access to them.

You'll need to
Hashmal and Mateus
for Knight and
Adrammelech
on Time Mage to get the full assortment of heals.
