This looks pretty enticing. I'm not typically great at rhythm games, but I've been really into Dynamix on Android for a few months now, and something like this on a big screen (and possibly - like Umbooki mentioned above - with a fight stick) sounds great. The lack of auto-correct is also heartening, since that seems to mess me up pretty bad/prevents me from learning correctly in most other games that have it.

Question for folks that have it. How's the sync with it working on a TV? Recently picked up Superbeat Xonic and for the life of me can't get the time syncing with the video just right enough to make it very much fun.

Also, any idea if the actual stages have been remixed or revamped compared to their older versions? Not super hot on the idea of playing the older songs if they're literally just cut and pastes.

The sync seems perfect for me, I changed some calibration around but the default value seemed to feel exactly like the old games did.

There are new charts for old songs, old charts for old songs, and some old charts are replaced with new ones that are similar but not exactly the same. It's actually pretty awesome, I didn't expect that and it's an amazing surprise.

That's good to hear, thanks for the info. One of the bigger disappointments for me with the PSP versions were the unchanged charts for the older songs. Ended up feeling like I was paying just to play the same old stuff for no real reason. Damn it, guess I gotta go an order this now.

Any indication on how much the DLC song lists will be?

As someone who is anal about timing (like a lot of us here I bet), it seems great to me. No adjustments made. Compare that to something like IIDX where every ms counts, this game does it right by having a wide enough timing window to feel "good" but not broken easy.

Lol yea I'm anal with rhythm game timing as well but everything seems good. I'll probably make slight adjustments just to see if I notice a difference but the default setting should be fine.

I still think it's hilarious that it really does say "Press X to Pay Respect" on the menu.

Welcome to 4B training ground, I'm starting to get the hang of it, still suffer same side notes, thumb not fast enough.
One thumb cover two button is hard enough, can't imagine 3 button.

This game does playing before having everything downloaded right. Can already play everything, but the movies don't play yet.
Feels great to play an actual djmax again. Even hooked my ps4 up with my monitor(well really because my tv died, but it might be a good idea anyway).

Ended up getting the game digitally after watching some streams. Hope they announce music pack timelines soon.

Wow, this really reminded me how much I played P2 and how little time I spent with P1. The P2 category is such a nostalgia trip. It's been years since I had my hands on "A Lie." And the Respect songs sound really solid!

Forgot how /tough/ those MX charts were. I'm gonna be lost in this for a really long time.

Oh, anyone know if you have to play Arcade mode to get unlocks? I feel like that's gotten me more unlocks, but I didn't see anything on Collection about it.

As tempting as it is to import, I might just have to wait for the US version considering how many games I have at the moment/will have in Aug. & Sept.

Super glad to hear the positive reactions & the fact they fixed the damn unlocking system not being as tedious as the portable games.

If you go into your Collection and then achievements, you'll see that unlocks are tied to different things. For example, if you want a certain song, it's tied to getting a 10K/20K etc combo. If you want an NB Ranger calling card, that's tied to Mission Mode.

It may seem like Arcade is giving you a ton of things but thats because you're doing different things in Arcade. You may be getting S/A ranks, you may be playing on Normal difficulty, you may be activating Fever a number of times. So you're accomplishing different things, hence all the unlocks.

There are 776 items so you'll always unlock something.

If there's another way to unlock things, then I'll be surprised as well. Glory Day was unlocked at level 25 and that wasn't anywhere in the achievement lists so it's possible.

Yup. Hamsin needs to be unlocked by playing and clearing x amount of MX songs.

Memory of Beach should be playable from the start.

Did they say if DLC would be in packs (I'm guessing they'll have "Portable 3 song pack 1" & such) or can you buy each song separately? Heck, this might be a good game to release a season pass like Sega does with the Project Diva games.

& holy crap at the huge amount of stuff to unlock. It's like they went far & beyond to fix my complaints about the unlocking on the PSP games. I seriously cannot get over how happy this makes me. It's the one thing that makes it hard for me to repurchase Portable 3 on Vita since save data from physical to digital doesn't carry over & I really don't want to have to grind again.

Yeah, that's the only thing that's tripping me up about it. But, I did realize you can play songs in Arcade that haven't been unlocked in Freestyle yet.

Playing a bit better than I thought I would. Can play up to level 12 4B and up to level 10 6b. Used to be able to play everything on 4b and almost every 6b song. But I haven't played since Black Square, if I don't count trilogy, so it's alright.
My eyes can still see the patterns, but my fingers just can't keep up anymore.

Wait, they got rid of the icons with special powers? Does that mean they removed the "will prevent # notes from breaking" power that made the 99,999 grind more tolerable?

Yeah, we found out about the damn 999,999 combo via the trophies. I always hated that part of DJMAX, grinding to 99999 to get a rather lame reward or something. The fact they upped the requirement while getting rid of the one power that made it more tolerable to reach that high number sucks.

Hopefully, the trick where you go to the system home menu to exit so the game doesn't save & you don't lose your on-going combo still works.

If I purchase this game digitally with a Hong Kong account, set my console as it's primary and use my US account to play the game, will I be able to use the same save file if I buy the NA version of the game digitally (assuming it gets released)?

I think I'm going to have to grab the Korean version of this. I haven't played a DJ Max game in any real capacity since Portable 2, way back in 2007. But I was hella into it, and got really good.

Eek. 8B is so hard. I remember why I never got good at it on PSP. Gonna just work through 4, 5, 6 before messing with 8.

The difficulty is also very jarring. FC Blythe 4B Normal. Try 4B Hard and get eaten alive. I love this series, haha.

Is there a GAF community where we can track scores and trophies and progress to compare and compete?

Haven't even touched 8B yet. Never was good at it lol. Been having a good time with everything else though. Will eventually get up there.

It was fine. They just had to do a phone verification of the order. HK account created, credit redeemed, game downloading. Seriously excited.

Oh man, my GF got me this game for our anniversary. She chose economy though, so i'll be waiting at least 2 weeks. I don't think I can wait that long, I might crumble and get it digital. God help me

The only reason my local delivery exist is just to piss people off. Item arrived at my nearest delivery center, they refused to ship it out so I went there to for self collection, they insist on not letting me self collect.
Looks like I will have to wait for Monday.
