Street Fighter V |OTVIII| New Delayed Generation - Controversial Inputs

Marvel

could never
What'd they do this time?
Just not a lot of joy again, sheer boredom and not giving a fuck or even liking SFV. It's starting to get to be a turn off this past year. But this one for me might have been the most depressing one yet, even with Smug there.

Every character should have anti-airs like Abigail. I'm not talking about his fly swatting normal (although at least that makes sense for his character) but all the anti-airs he can combo from. People need to be able to get punished hard for jumping in endlessly.

I really don't understand how anyone is supposed to play Vega in this game. Other characters are anti-airing crossups with jabs and Vega can barely deal with normal jump-ins. It's like this character was designed for a different game.

I understand that every character needs a weakness, but it ruins every other part of his game. Walking a character to the corner doesn't matter when they can jump out for free 90% of the time.
First thing you do every Vega match is take the claw off and try your best to pressure up close.

Unless it's Gief then you keep the claw on and zone.

Man, I took a long break from this game because I just wasn't enjoying it at the time, but now I want to jump back in. How many balance changes have there been since Kolin released, because that was the last time I played. Got her to level 30 and took a break.

I think this was the first time since like 2002 I wasn't playing some sort of fighting game almost daily, even though I've bought all of the ones that have come out recently. Felt bad, but felt nice to finally put some time into other games and not be overflowing with salt every few days.

plus Ed and Abigail.

Some quick TV help, guys.

I have this...

https://www.amazon.com/ASUS-VH236H-23-Inch-Full-HD-Monitor/dp/B002453K5G

but I guess this is the new standard...

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01H5KKRLY/?tag=neogaf0e-20

am I right to upgrade? Like, I thought for the longest time ASUS was the standard but I guess not anymore? Feels like I missed a year or something.
I got no advice to give (sorry) but I gotta point out that even the promotional picture they're using of SFV on the monitor has Necalli's hair clipping through his hand.

Although some people think Birdie is outclassed by Abigail in some ways Abigail can't make people come to him the way Birdie can. And birdie fights abigail pretty well I'd say with his zoning

I'm fine with it, and this is speaking as someone who loses a million points when I lose to a Platinum player. In fact, it's a good thing that people don't get to face others who are of much higher rank or LP, because it's kind of a pain when it happens to those with the higher rank. Harsh circumstances makes the actual rankings matter. What should feel rewarding is the experience points that you gain towards character levels, and those don't really amount to much.

But, like in StarCraft II ladder, matches can feel competitive because the developers didn't feel a need to sugarcoat the competitive experience for people online. There's Casual matchmaking for people who are fed up with it, but I appreciate the Ranked structure because the matches are actually serious.

The character level thing can't be overstated enough - i've quickly come to realize that players I match up with who have a character level on par with my character or higher have consistently been better/even match ups for me. In fact, when I see someone with a character level much higher than my own, I tend to know i'm in for a whoopin. Feels great when I actually win in that circumstance.

It's funny, because whenever I go to my alternate account to play Abigail, CFN decides to match me with every Nash player left. Seriously, the most characters I've played against using Abigail in my 300+ matches are Nash players.

Are you using the df, df shortcut?
That should make it a lot easier in SF at least.

THANK YOU!
This absolutely worked! It's the little things like this that get missed that contribute to player frustration and they drop the game all together.

I saw PoongKo play sets as Abigail against a Birdie last night and I think the match might be kind of a struggle for Birdie tbh. Some of his stuff (like the can and banana peel) seems to come out too slow to deal with Abigail's run/air flips, and some of his move that cover distance like his chains and tackles would just run into Abigail's armor and get punished.

The Birdie did manage to keep him away a few times with his littering, but he definitely looked lost for most of the sets I saw.

Been noticing this trend of Ryu players from like ultra silver up to super platinum who just *keep pressing buttons constantly*. It's sort of weird. I think they think it's how you keep people away since it's not like he can zone well or something? In any event, the counterhits are real.

It's been every Ryu since season 2 at least

whiff jab whiff light whiff jab fireball whiff jab whiff light dash in and out and then jump

Yeah, this is every Ryu I've ever fought.

Aww yisss, mah boy Daigo wins his first CPT event and is back in the top 32 ranking(31st to be exact). Still plenty of time left in the CPT for things to change and DTN is later tonight and could have some more implications on who's in and out so far in this season.

Pretty interesting to look at the current rankings though. If the CPT were to end today, only 1 Korean would be in. And that Korean is neither Infiltration or Poongko who have been mainstays in SF4/SFV top 8's/16's. Instead it's the Cammy player Verloren who very narrowly missed out on EVO top 8 after his controversial match F. Champ for the final spot.

I've been watching tons of Valle's and Momochi's Abigail. But I think Poongko's Abi is actually my favorite. IMO they all try to mix in solid play with craziness because I think it's kind of required to play the character. But Poongko goes for hail mary's a little more often during V Trigger and connects most of the time and he can land that really hard double charge heavy punch combo at a pretty high rate unlike Valle and Momochi. It seemed like he did the 50-70% V Trigger combo at least once a game last night.

It was also hilarious to see him do sweep > activate V trigger > charge the fierce punch move and then he absorbs other characters V reversal and proceeds to nuke their life bar.

Just caught a few matches from him.

Yeah he does go nuts in Poonkgo style more often. It does look fun, but I don't think I can replicate his success lol

If I play Ryu, I'll whiff normals to fake a fireball. I mean, his fireball zoning is mediocre and you don't really need to jump against him. Gotta use everything you can think of.

Here is my new SFV tier list:
RBaGTaR.jpg
And my top 5 most annoying characters to face:

1. Rashid
2. Laura
3. Guile
4. Dhalsim
5. R. Mika

Ibuki would be sixth.

You're welcome.
But keep in mind that this shortcut is not common in fighting games, as far as I know.

brb, learning Rashid.

It's not just this particular case though. We've see it countless of times on gaming side almost every weekend for a whole year now - It really stinks up the place. If it wasn't for the community side on GAF I honestly don't think I would have signed up, because right now, most of the stuff you see on gaming is some r/Kappa toxic shit. I've realised just how bad it is so I'll probably stay away from that in the future. Going to focus on improving my performance in this game instead of getting involved in these shitfests that lead nowhere.

So I read the current Capcom thread, and good grief MrCarter. You went in so hard that your impact left a crater and got blown the fuck up for it. Deservedly so, I might add, considering how aggressive you are being to other members. And you're still going! Do yourself a favor, bail from that thread, and focus on playing the game instead of defending it on NeoGAF.

lol, there's a reason he's got a bit of a reputation nowadays. Him and Lone Dragon hold the SFV shill federation tag team championships.
