You're putting the bar at "GOAT" pretty low if "It looks like a 'modern' movie" is all you need to clear it.
(A lot of movies made before 1991 will look just as great/modern when transferred correctly. There are a ton of blu-rays that prove this point very clearly, too)

It does seem like they altered the color timing. Why do directors insist on doing this for "remasters"?

What's funny is that the original T2 is where he started the practice. So the film just got bluer/colder.
Eh...a lot of remastered movies still look like they're from the time period they were created in, just in HD. If it weren't for the mullets and arcade, this looks like a 2017 movie, at least to a layman like me.

I've heard that, and still don't really see it, even knowing that's what they are (apparently?).
I mean:
It doesn't look like he's just walking around with those taped on to his chest.
They definitely did, and I'm kind of okay with it. The original was a little too warm for me. Their faces look red at times. Maybe I'm crazy.

I always loved how the T-1000 shoved those kids to the ground the moment that he saw John Connor in his sights. Robert Patricks performance was spot on. And yeah, that random guy in the hallway just getting hammered with bullets. Such a needless but awesome death. But it does also tip off to the audience that the T-1000 is the bad guy.
The colour grading doesn't look too bad. Though I really need to see it up against the original movie for a better comparison.
