Yeah, and while I am well I'm truly in the "punch a Nazi in the face" camp, I feel a bit sorry for the people in this thread who get called Nazi enablers because they express unease at the idea of all-out escalating violence. Opposing a violent response in itself doesn't mean "we need to reach out to these people", as much as some people in here try to put an equals sign between the two of them.

It is probably fair to argue that those who are still hopeful of a political/legislative solution to the white supremacy plague are naive and blind to the reality, but being anti-Nazi and fundamentally anti-violence aren't inherently mutually exclusive. And I feel sorry for the people here having their characters slammed because of some 2 + 2 = 5 conclusions made by others.

Like I said at the start, I'm sliding into the "punch a nazi" camp but let's not unfairly marginalise our allies who have a different notion of how best to deal with these racist pieces of shit.

On CNN right now, the fucker that drove into the crowd still lives with his mom.

Cause of fucking course he does.

And that's the narrative used by folks against the alleged "SJW" cucks. I'm sure that will be reflected on by those groups. Love you, dancingqueen..lol. 😘

If the president continues to back both sides the next rally is going to be a bloodbath. I suspect he wants that as it's a distraction from his problems. If McMaster won't let him have a foreign war he is ok with a domestic one.

CNN:. Doj released a statement saying they are opening a civil rights investigation against the attack in Virgina. Sessions makes anti-racist comment.

Holy shit that must have hurt him.

Watching live news or I'd link sources sorry

Quoting myself from the last page. Hearing Sessions condemn racism is weird as fuck.

No time to wait for you. You sit on that fence, and slide into that other side when comfortable just to cover your bases. You're not needed, nor wanted.

Fox News found their latest well behaved black they can bring on air who was willing to say the alt right are not white supremacists. They are just white people who feel wronged.

.

Unfortunately there wont be any tolerance for a moderate approach, understandably.

We have reached a point where a violent end to the Nazi problem in America is not only seemingly inevitable, but certainly apparently necessary too.

State police and national guardsmen watched passively for hours as self-proclaimed Nazis engaged in street battles with counter-protesters. ProPublica reporter A.C. Thompson was on the scene and reports that the authorities turned the streets of the city over to groups of militiamen armed with assault rifles.
CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. — There was nothing haphazard about the violence that erupted today in this bucolic town in Virginia's heartland. At about ten AM this morning, at one of countless such confrontations, an angry mob of white supremacists formed a battle line across from a group of counter-protesters, many of them older and grey-haired, who had gathered near a church parking lot. On command from their leader, the young men charged and pummeled their ideological foes with abandon. One woman was hurled to the pavement, and the blood from her bruised head was instantly visible.

Standing nearby, an assortment of Virginia State Police troopers and Charlottesville police wearing protective gear watched silently from behind an array of metal barricades — and did nothing.
We walked the streets beginning in the early morning hours and repeatedly witnessed instances in which authorities took a largely laissez faire approach, allowing white supremacists and counter-protesters to physically battle.
And the white supremacists who showed up in Charlottesville did indeed come prepared for violence. Many wore helmets and carried clubs medieval-looking round wooden shields, and rectangular plexiglass shields, similar to those used by riot police.
The police did little to stop the bloodshed. Several times, a group of assault rifle-toting militia members from New York State, wearing body armor and desert camo, played a more active role in breaking up fights.
Charlottesville vice-mayor Wes Bellamy defended the police tactics. ”I'm not in the business of throwing our police department under the bus, because they're doing the best job they can, ” said Bellamy. ”I don't think the police officers were just twiddling their thumbs."
In the weeks leading up to the protest, city and state officials put together a detailed plan for the rally, mobilizing 1000 first responders, including 300 state police troopers and members of the National Guard. Judging from how events unfolded today, it appears that the strategy was to avoid direct confrontations with the protesters.
But an overly forceful response, she said, can also make the situation worse. Krinsky said attempts to seize weapons might have led to more clashes between police and protesters. ”Trying to take things away from people is unlikely to be a calming influence," she told ProPublica.

people need to get over this romantic idea that the police are some arbiters of good and will stick up for all people. news fucking flash: they SUPPORT this shit. The police will NEVER be on the right side. They will never NOT support the fascists. They won't hurt their peers.

The police are a racist, white supremacist institution. That's how they started and that's how they'll always be.

This is why you talk to your kids about politics. What an idiot mom.

And your friends, and your family.

Look at all those threads where folks lionized getting along with far right friends and family, where they valorized ignoring politics and find common ground because of a love for baseball or Supernatural or whatever.

Fuck silence

How can they live with themselves? I want an official response.

Didn't trump say they are the best police today? Makes sense coming from him I guess

and the recent "it's just a joke" thread where white straight people admitted to using the n-word and faggot as the butt of the joke even when there were no gay or black people around because "it's just a joke"

I despise Nazis and disagree with anyone that suggests violence is going to accomplish anything beyond making them look like victims and getting yourself locked up.
