I just went ahead to see if you can set Siege / Unsiege because I haven't even really looked at the hotkeys page yet since they patched it back in by loading up the game and you can. You can pretty much change everything on every unit / building.

I wanna believe this will revive the pro scene to make SC relevant in E sports again, but I haven't seen much hype in that regard. Not even the Korean scene is turnt up.

Am I wrong?

I'd love to get Day9 teaching us again, and Tastosis GSL late nights, etc.

I'm genuinely worried that might happen. I spent a significant portion of time from 12-14 years old playing this game on my PC, alongside Baldur's Gate and Deus Ex.

Oh, so there's a pre-order bonus? I better get on that then. Does it matter if I buy the game from the US or EU site? I'm located in Europe. I might as well buy it from the EU site to be safe.

For me it's the unit portraits. I would have prefered they just re-render the old CG at a higher resolution, or offered that as an option.

I'm one of them. Now I do think SC2's story gets too much hate on GAF, aside from the epilogue missions and love angle, both of which make me want to vomit blood, but I think SC/BW's story is excellent and SC2's is a clear step down from it.

Once you are thinking of and issuing orders to build more units while you are watching a battle go down, you will have learned Starcraft.

I also instantly pre-ordered this when it was available so I am IN. I lived and breathed the campaign and custom maps growing up, but barely touched regular multiplayer. Hoping my friend or new friends would be interested in some skirmishes.

What do you think the chances are for this game revitalizing the competitive scene in SC1 and by extension SC2? Seems like the scene and viewership has declined a ton since 2012 or so due to LoL and DOTA2.

Very good chance of a Brood War resurgence in Korea. That had already begun before SCR was announced thanks to the ASL, and the launch event was a huge hit. Can't really comment on things in the west yet. Will depend largely on Blizzard deciding to give it a league or not (which if you check the source I posted, may happen), but even then the gameplay may be too difficult and old for today's market.

Definitely can't see SC2's pro scene coming back though.

Little tip from a personal experience. For those who are getting into StarCraft for the first time and have never played any of the games before, I strongly recommend that you don't immediately jump into multiplayer until you have either played the campaign and some custom games or have practiced with a friend who knows their skills.

I thought I was ready to play multiplayer after I beat the campaign and holy crap that I get destroyed. 10 minutes after the match begins I was building my resources to improve and suddenly out of nowhere a huge wave of Zergling destroyed everything in my vicinity.

I would definitely be up for some mp games. It's my first time playing StarCraft though.

They aren't official or worth checking out really.

I was going to avoid this remaster, but I've caught the bug, purchasing now. Will be nice to play through the campaigns again and maybe dip a toe into multiplayer.

Used to obsessively talk about PvZ strategies with mates in class. Good times.

Looking forward to playing through the campaign again and forgetting that SCII comes next.

Never played the original multiplayer competitively like I did SCII. Interested in seeing how it feels.

That guy doesn't deserve any attention after what he's done! Besides I mostly focused on the playable heroes.

I did mention him in the in the story explanation as the "ambitious man seeking to obtain power over them all" in order to avoid any more that I've spoiled heh heh.

Awesome work once again.

I'm really looking forward to matchmaking, one of the biggest hurdles of Brood War for me was finding a way into the competitive community. The fact that matchmaking is here is a huge deal.

Probably not, although it's a different RTS than Age of Empires. Maybe best to download the anthology which is entirely free now and see if you like it. The gameplay will be unchanged in the remaster.

Maintenance starts at 10 AM PDT and shouldn't take long. It'll be added to the app and released then.

just updated to 1.19.5.2529. my SC1 install now has over 5GB of data in the Starcraft\Data\data folder, along with a grayed-out "HD Graphics" option in the "video" tab. so... I guess it's all just sitting in there, waiting to rock?

Pretty much, just got to wait till it's released, maybe a small patch, but you're all good!

Starcraft is much faster then Age of Empires with less of an emphasis on base building.

It's not uncommon for a game of Starcraft to end in under 10 minutes.

I'm not sure if you'll enjoy it coming from Dota, but you can always download the original for free to see how you like it!
