No Man's Sky - Atlas Rises |OT| Nada, Polo and you no longer fly solo

Yeah i sort of wish OP would drop back in too so we could get it updated with all the stuff you've been keeping track of, Hawkian.

Don't know if they wanted to own maintaining the OP when they probably thought they were just making a quick 10-20 page thread...

I agree with this. Could we kindly ask the mods to actually rename the topic? For all intents and purposes, this is an OT at this point.

Yeah I know they're also still using the OT in the gaming community too, so, not sure...

Just noticed the thread title. Of all the things to mention, terrain editing? lol

I keep grimacing at that as well...

This should just be No Man's Sky - Atlas Rises |OT| Yes, you read the number of pages right

Yeh, I keep noticing it as well but felt like it was too petty to bring up so thank you for taking the bullet on that. At the very least it should have been the new 30hr story, which is the figurehead on top of which a lot of the others sit.

It should be an OT at this point too, I agree. The other thread harbours barely any of the excitement of activity that this one has seen.

No Man's Sky - Atlas Rises |OT| Nada, Polo and you no longer fly solo.

Brilliant.

Quick question: How far into the base building stuff do you need to go to get the buggy exocraft? I've done base building pre-1.3 but never played the vehicle patch.

Aight I asked a mod, we'll see :>

Top stuff. I'm so thankful to have this thread, makes my day seeing active discussion over this game again.

I just made 3 million in under 15 min in what I assume is a bug at the end of the Exocraft quest line. I could have kept going, too...

This has turned into a de facto OT for the expansion, so by request I've titled as such.

Expansion looks pretty neat, and combined with the last two is a huge evolution from the base game. I'll dabble in it later this year.

Nice update thanks Ghaleon, if only all the handy guides were in the OP :D

Been enjoying a quiet play through the new content this evening with a sleeping toddler next to me (she's scared of the thunder), and I've had a string of grotty systems. Almost all of them are baking/freezing (or both), radioactive and teeming with pissed off Fauna or peeved sentinels. The only planet which looked lovely (lush, and with just the right amount of pools of refreshing looking water) was practically barren in terms of day-to-day materials.

Worst day for quality planets this week :)

If you already have a base, I believe you can build an Exocraft Terminal, then hire a Vy'keen Technician if you don't have one yet to build the geobays for each exocraft. I haven't done it yet myself either

If you don't have the Exocraft Terminal blueprint yet I'm not sure though..

Yeh, I don't have any blueprints but at the same time don't have a base so I'm guessing that's it with regards to them. Still looking for a spot to hunker down haha. Thanks for the info.

I wonder if in future updates they'll allow you to somehow transport your craft to other planets, or is that a thing already?

One question about bases. Does investing in one change up how you approach all planets from that point onward, or is it more of a matter of investing in one planet in particular?

Say I build a base and get some vehicles, can I use those anywhere? Or just on my home world?

All the base stuff is new to me. Haven't really dipped a toe into it all yet, but am interested in checking it all out. Is there anything I should look for in particular with a home world? Am currently spending all my time on a very chill planet with kumbaya sentinels and no fauna. Its hard to find a place more relaxing but I wonder if the lack of animal life would be a problem.

Oh wow, came back to quite a surprise! Thank you and and definitely jump back in when you can.

Interesting question- this is actually sorta up to you.

You can return to your base easily from any space station, even on the other side of the galaxy. So it might or might not change how you approach future exploration depending on what you use it for. As far as investing in one planet in particular, you could do that especially if it's resource-rich and you want to make it a kind of wealth-generating investment for yourself, or you could not put much into it and kind of planet-hop and claim a new base whenever you felt like it.

Say I build a base and get some vehicles, can I use those anywhere? Or just on my home world?
Just learned about this myself, once you have a base with the geobays (housing for each type of craft), you can build an exocraft terminal on any planet to summon them.

All the base stuff is new to me. Haven't really dipped a toe into it all yet, but am interested in checking it all out.
Same here.

Vehicle stations I believe can be built anywhere on any planet, not just the one you have set as your home base.

Edit: ah, Hawkian answered it better.

Any homing weapons for space combat? I have done a few of the
Weapon Smith
quests and installed the new weapons I got for that. They pretty much all suck in the same way that the basic plasma cannons suck. I'm tired of losing all my shields while I plink away at low level fighters. There has got to be a way to kill them faster...

Does anyone remember how long it took the PS4 patch to go live after the Steam experimental branch went live? May be good timing for our weekend float trip. It would be nice to come back and be able to continue the main story.

2 or 3 days I think.

Thanks to the mod who OT'd this. I'd apparently gone to see Nada & Polo so many times already that I got no dialogue from them on subsequent visits after the "this is the first time you found the anomaly, and here's the atlas quest" starter.

I'm worried about "Fixed terrain editor being built with full charge" because that's the only thing that makes the tool even remotely possible to use in normal mode. It's basically an official statement that it's only there to dig up freighter crates and that fun is banned. Also, if S-class ships are made even more expensive I'm going to scream. They're as much as an entire freighter already. I had huge stockpiles of everything and about 100M units banked and I even can't afford this stuff. Farming is the easiest way to make larger sums of money but without a fix that remains obscenely tedious.

The phase beam use to have some auto-aim but it got a nerf bat. My suggestion for a more dependable weapon is still the phase beam, however. You take more damage than you used to regardless of combat style now so how do you take advantage of that? If something has you lined up that perfectly it assures you get the same accuracy the other way. The phase beam has a good range, good stopping power, and is instantaneous. The new weapons might be better with upgrades so maybe others can comment on that.

Remember to keep some oxides or shielding plates around for quick shield recharges mid-battle... D-pad down, select shield with X, press again immediate to use first element that pops up... can be done indefinitely. Slow with L2 for a moment after a ship makes it pass at you to turn quickly and get behind them with a boost. Check random ships at bases for ones that might sell defense chits... seems restricted to Vy'keen systems and the orbital station. They're cheap!

Are those new exotic planets filled with salty angry sentinels on survival too? I certainly hope not....

Haven't found a lush planet without em yet.

That's all decent advice but I really hope at some point they can make the dogfighting... yaknow... fun. Recharging my shields twice in the course of fighting a single ship is beyond tedious.

What's the difference between the 3 main ground vehicles. I built the buggy and accidentally built a hovering one on another planet by mistake, but it looked the same minus the wheels.

The Nomad is the fastest, has least cargo space and can glide over water
The Roamer is good all-around, medium cargo space and can drive on sea floors
The Colossus is the slowest and has the most cargo space by far
And it's an explorer.

And it's got 29 slots.

And here I am with my c class hauler with 25.

Legit flippin tables over here.
yeah I can't even

that's the exact kind of ship I'd want
