Vanity Fair: Bannon wants Priebus to give his account of the Comey firing to Mueller

If I had to guess, his thinking is that if he just "exposes" them and their agenda, Trump will "see the light".

I'd guess he's actively targeting Trump now actually, but wants to avoid directly saying that in order to delay losing a huge part of Trump's own base, with a longer term goal of eroding Trump's base and taking them for himself.

I think there's two possibilities here, the simpler and maybe more likely one, or the more fun 4D chess one.

Simple: Bannon, like Trump, is just a huge asshole and he's pissed off and lashing out at the people he thinks ousted him (Ivanka, Jared, Kelly). He doesn't care what Trump thinks and there's no agenda beyond revenge.

4D chess: Bannon is poking at people like Ivanka because he knows Trump will flip out and attack Brietbart, thus allowing Brietbart to regain their outsider status, and even play the persecuted victim, something right-wingers love to do. "The president abandoned us! He turned on us! The White House is controlled by liberals now!" This is probably a much more successful business model for this sort of publication, rather than just a mouthpiece for the government.

It seems they think the Democrats (the establishment) have taken over the White House and Trump is basically just being used by those around him.

So, they still like Trump, but everybody else is fair game. My take.

Not the Democrats. The "establishment" controls both sides form their point of view. Bannon hates the GOP.

I will never understand those who were happy to see Bannon out of the White House. What did you think he would go do afterwards? Knit? He's just going to stir shit even more openly and aggressively.

It's much better that he isn't in the White House.

I don't see Trump abandoning Ivanka and extension Jared.

If it was Tiffany, yeah he would push her out of a moving car, but he loves Invanka

He sure does...

Steve Bannon is Littlefinger.

EDIT: ^ beaten

He just wants to watch the world burn. And maybe play out some freaky fantasy with the daughter of his long-lost crush.

Another day another nothing burger this man will serve his 4 year sentence. Let's start focusing on people to actually take over when he's finally out.

He's DEF not getting another term

What exactly do you think changes for the better? It's all shit whether he is there or not.

I mean, the White House doesn't suddenly become good, but it's clearly better that Bannon is now the editor of a website rather than one of the most powerful men in America.

Agree to disagree. Now he can publish news and claim inside knowledge on the inner workings of the White House and the government at large. "I have seen the waste first hand!" He can now spew shit with an air of legitimacy. More importantly, there is nothing to indicate that he no longer has the ear of the president. People have "left" this White House before yet maintained communication with it. He will continue to do damage.

It was never clear what he actually did while in the White House and it is less clear whether his agenda will continue without his physical presence. I think those cheering are making a lot of assumptions.

Honestly, the whole thing comes off like a Hail Mary PR move after Tuesday. Almost trying to put the president's words on Bannon, while simultaneously giving him more freedom to speak his mind without fear of people claiming those words are coming from the White House. I'm not buying it.

Eh. If he's going to start spewing stuff it'll be through Breitbart, and the only people who think Bannon has some sort of legitimacy now probably already thought the same of Breitbart, so I dunno if it really changes anything.

I have seen zero evidence that Bannon, like anybody else in the current administration, has a fucking clue

Bannon's a mastermind in strategy. I feel like he has a clue above anyone else. Hate to say this, but Bannon was the only one against going to war/military action. Trump's now surrounded by hawks. Bullshit.

Why would Priebus listen to anything Bannon has to say? I was under the impression they hated each other.
It's strange, they seemed to be getting along at first. I remember seeing a clip from an interview with the two of them where they were talking about how they roomed together, and they were acting all buddy-buddy.

A Master Strategist: Steve Bannon Has Completed His Yearlong Plan To Become Increasingly Irrelevant Before Eventually Getting Fired.

I don't know what the fuck will happen, nobody does, but if you go by track record, Steve Bannon was a complete failure in achieving any of his political goals in the white house.
