Valkyre - UCS MF is a pretty special release, but there is nothing quite as special as something you've worked on personally for a long time. You're building something unique to you - don't let a silly mass produced set take that away from you

This probably isn't too useful for most of you since it's entirely in Danish, but this is a pretty good documentary on the history of the company. If nothing else, it's fascinating to see the early footage and production lines. They also speak about the very first bricks (mentioning how the design was borrowed with permission from Kiddicraft) and how Kjeld and his sister were the kids on the boxes. They also mention that the wood workshop burned down three times - the last time when the Lego bricks were becoming a success, so they didn't rebuild a fourth time and focused on plastic.

It's from the early 2000's so the last topic is the crisis that nearly killed them (and wasn't quite over at that time), but there's been other newer documentaries that cover that period.

Not so much because i think that the Lego UCS is going to be even close to the kind of detail that this UCS I am about to build has, but because it takes away some of the uniqueness and the moment of finally being able to build a UCS MF. It also might make me feel like I am missing out on the Lego set of the decade...it is a major release.

Can GAF maybe cheer me up a bit lol

Understandable.. it’s not much but it reminds me of this quote :

“An art piece is something you'll experience repeatedly – it's worth considering why it speaks to you, and how long it might continue to do so.”

Everyone with the money will have the new MF, but you’ll have a unique piece with a story behind it.

As for the problem of display space for twin UCS Falcons, I’ll toss out the LegoGAF manifesto - time for a new house!

So I'm buying some shelves to display my modulars on. Any good supplementary sets that would help make the street look more populated? Stuff like minifigures, cars and smaller things one might find at the side of a road.

I'm getting the "Fun at the Park" set for sure but I'd like to know what else, if anything, is out there.

Not really sure I want to get into blind bags but yeah, Ninjago seems to be a good bet. If I ever get Ninjago City the sheer amount of minifigs you get is insane.

City sets like the recent bus can be useful. Some superhero sets also come with little street peripherals, like the corner on the Ghost Rider set. Or you can just build your own.

Jang actually reviewed a City accessory pack that was a bunch of small build of exactly what you are looking to. I think it's like 10 bucks.

I had a look at the bus and I'm not too sure. Looks a bit too modern and 'clean' for the style of street I'm going for. £31 is also quite steep, though it does have some good figures I must admit. Thanks anyway!

I'll have to take a look at that. Haven't found anything of the sort but thanks for pointing me in that direction.

Sorry I was on mobile at the time and couldn't post a link but this was the set he reviewed, Lego City Build My City Accessory Pack. Yea its 10 bucks US, doesn't come with figs and is a bunch of mini City type builds like street lights, signs, vendor stands, guard bars an bike racks. Alot of the builds can be found in other sets but if you aren't buying alot of individual sets I could see how this pack might be appealing.

Not even sure what the Lego Store is supposed to look like it. It's got a weird stair-like structure with random stuff just put on top. If this weren't an obvious fake and that were what a big Creator Expert Lego store looked like I'd be highly disappointed.

Doesn't seem to be available in the UK, sadly. I think I've settled on the park figure pack, the pizza van and maybe the bus. I don't really want to spend much more than £40-£50 on supplementary sets.

My local Meijer (if you're not from the Great Lakes region, think Walmart but cleaner) has moved the Lego section and has shelf tags out for the new sets. All the Star Wars stuff just says "EPISODE 8" without a description.

Hoping someone comes along and starts tossing some stuff up on the shelf. They have a ton of new spaces for the June sets that they never bothered to put out, so who knows when they'll actually get around to it.

Got a Meijer in KY. Love the place. Huge store, wide aisles and never feels cramped. And they take Apple Pay, which is nice and convenient.

Didn't realize they'd made it down to Kentucky. I appreciate their rewards program since it's basically free money for shopping there. And my local Walmart in particular is a special kind of hell, so I always go to Meijer.

A store in Shanghai decided to create this poster using one of CM4Sci's MOCs, his fake UCS Falcon, and a picture of the Grand Carousel with the wrong set number.

There are some nuggets of truth to the poster, but it is also full of false info.

Looking into it, I think Marcos Bessa, and not Jamie Berard, is the designer on the big set releasing late this year.

Making some assumptions, I could see this set being Wayne Manor, as Bessa mentioned that his new set releasing in December will have 3,000 pieces.

If this set has a mid-November VIP release, then that would put it somewhat close to the UCS Falcon, while still affording each some breathing room.

I cannot recall where I hear this info too (and if it was Bessa or Jamie the designer), but don't the rumours said that they are two different things? A Lego Batman Movie D2C set and a big creator set? But really if the LBM set is this year, there is hardly room for another big set.

I need to get in their rewards program. Dunno why my wife and I haven't. It's about the only place we get groceries besides the restaurant supply store. Which those are great for bulk or getting meat dirt cheap.

Agreed, I can't see the 10256 Creator Expert set coming out this year, which means it is either pushed to 2018, or cancelled.

Or LEGO is just going for broke and releasing another D2C set before the end of the year.

It is looking like 70922 Wayne Manor will be the November/December set, designed by Bessa.

Ugh. Wayne Manor being a Bessa set means it will be filled with tons of mini furniture builds, which are probably my favorite things that Bessa does.

Reviews of TLJ sets are popping up on Youtube. (Solid bricks, J2G). Haven't watch them in full, but just skimmed trough them. Seems the Kylo Tie was a bit of a let down for j2g. Overpriced and bland. Was the only set, besides BB-8 offcourse, I was definitely planning to get. Ah well, we'll see.

September 1st is OFS and BB8 and nothing else anyway. Hope to get Ninjago City in October.

I always find that if there is a line of Lego to be put on sale its always Ninjago that get the biggest cuts. Wonder if I should wait and see if the Ninjago city gets a reduction in price down the line.

I'm in London for work next week and hope to hop into the Leicaster Square Store if I get the time. Last time I was in London was on opening day, so I couldn't pop inside.

Not that I'm planning to buy something, as Lego in the UK is even more expensive than at home.

EDIT: I'll have to take some of that back as the Pound is pretty weak at the moment compared to a few years back. Ninjago City would be 285 euro's at current rates, which is 45 euro's cheaper than here. I also realised I'll be in London on Force Friday, so I hope to find the time to pop in to get BB-8 if the UK price is below the Belgian one. Does Lego do night openings?

You in town for gamescom?

I haven't bought anything yet. I'll wait til the end of the day so I don't have to carry it around all day. Probably just get a PAB cup and some loose motors

Yep, at the show on Tues and Weds.
The exchange rate isn't terrible to get a slight discount on a bigger set but will probably just do a PAB/keyring raid myself too!

I ended up just getting some motors with vip points. I might go back later in the week though. If anyone wants an impromptu lego gaf gamescom meet up. Let's do this shit. I'm here til Saturday but at gamescom Tuesday through to Thursday

Yoda's Hut looks charming. Might grab it discounted as I don't have a Yoda figure yet. Also, that microfigher Millenium Falcon has a weird, brown cockpit. Different look in the Han Solo movie?

This is huge, like! A bit bigger than I was expecting. Some pretty nice techniques, and a lovely piece on display - can't really fault it too much, especially for the money! Just a colour choice that doesn't fit too well (don't dig all that tan) but doesn't really do too much harm overall because you can't see the bulk of it when it's side-on.

These are prelims, so some of the parts are substituted. That cockpit for instance is a Chopper head. Minifigs especially are not final.

That constraction Vader looks much improved.
