I don't get when people say the last episode was bad when it was the most Dragon Ball like in recent times, it was mainly two fighters using tactics to try and take each other down until the Goku card was pulled.

Yeah i thought this episode was great. It was still very Hit/Dyspo centric and it was great to see more of his personality brought out by the taunting pride troopers.

When Krilin and Roshi did it, there was a humorous spin on top of the cool factor that made it all work.

This episode just felt really cheap to me, I can't put my finger on what made me feel that way.

Jiren and Toppo lets loose, members of Universe 7 are falling like flies and it's just oku and Gohan remaining.

Toppo knows about techniques that plays around with space/time, he has one of his own. He's trapping Gohan inside some dimension barrier similar to Caulifa, except much stronger. Even with Goku's "limit breaker" while he can fight on par with Jiren, he's unable to deal with both titans at the same time and thus begins to take quite the beating. Gohan unable to help as his Father is 2v1'd, completely snaps from fear of losing everything.

This melody plays as Gohan ascends himself, and reaches that Ultimate Form nobody has ever seen, and the Father/Son duo team-up and give Universe 11 a hell of a fight.

Hit literally got stronger as the previous tournament went on.
He even went so far as to mimic Goku screaming to see if he can get a power boost too.

I always thought that was a translation weirdness. Like, I thought hits gimmick was he's so OP, he's never actually had a real fight before. So he's constantly learning stuff on the fly. Like he can stop time longer than he thought he could and stuff.

I'm not going to lie. After the U6 tourny had the opening theme play during Hit vs Goku... I'm curious to see how the fight will be when the new opening theme plays.

What is soon in this context? Super started in 2015 and it been over two years since Goku battled Beerus.

From TFS short takes on Super. Google 'Deadly in Pink' for them.

Now.

Needs more buildup. I'd be good with it if it happened 2 or 3 more arcs later.

Why does it needs more build up? We got Beerus meeting Goku and training with Whis for over two years along with all the stuff in-between like Hit, Black, and Merged Zamasu. Why do we need another two or three arc worth of build up?

Thank you! Was searching for it forever.

Here's a bonus Champa-sama GIF for y'all.

The funniest GoD around, the Clown GoD ain't got shit on him. It's funny though, I thought the Clown GoD would have some of the traits you'd expect from... a clown, but Belmod doesn't seem to play the part at all.

In the words of Barbara Gordon, not all clowns are funny.

I did post a gif of both of them.

Looks like they used the same hit animation for Hit, but Vegta's one looks slow, could be the gif itself though. I call this move the jobber knocker.

I saw a gif comparison that had them both playing at the same speed but the other one could have been sped up there. Not sure.

I think the gap established between them in BoG would feel a bit trivialized if he caught up so this arc. I feel like the subject of Goku catching up to Beerus is somewhat of a delicate thing to handle, in a sense. I want to see Beerus and (at least most of) the other GoD's in high power over Goku & fam for longer, and at it would feel anticlimactic to me if Goku surpassed Beerus too soon. If there is more buildup to it, it would have the proper weight I think it should have, and would feel more "earned" narritively.

I feel like if Goku catches up to Beerus that's the end of the series. I mean, where do you go from there except making him a GoD and making everyone else literally irrelevant as a result of that.

Angels
Then he would make them irrelevant
Until Goku becomes the new god emperor

Then the show finally stops being about Goku and we can get the adventures of Pan, Uub, Goten, Trunks, Marron, and Bulla. That would be pretty damn great to me.

Aside from the consideration that I'm sure they could make something up afterwards, there are still angels that are stronger than GoDs.

Also there's a mortal out there who's stronger than a GoD.

Given the track record of the series I don't think that's going to happen.

My point is there's not really anywhere left to go after having him surpass Beerus. Sure you can do the angels and that one guy, but after that? They'd have to pull some shit out of their ass to keep it going.

That's why I think Goku surpassing Beerus is endgame shit. It seems like the sort of thing they'd do when they're getting ready to wrap things up.

You joke, but Goku would totally save Jiren just to fight him lol. Maybe you weren't joking at all...
Jiren jumps off.
Goku : first Monaka, now Jiren, this day was all about me and now it's ruined.
GOKU destroys the whole stage. Yardrat stands on the sun and wins.

I'd be ok with them bringing in other stuff at that point. Demon Realm in other universes, the universes that Zeno destroyed coming back. Making up new elements. Idc.

As much as I want U6 to win, I kind of want that doctor to be U6's last fighter to see Champa's reaction to what I assume is their weakest fighter being the only one left.

But you really haven't explained why more build-up is needed since Goku has been behind Beerus for years despite gaining and mastering a new form and training under Beerus' teacher while he sat on his butt and ate. And surpassing the Gods of Destruction isn't even a big thing since Beerus isn't even the strongest god, we know that there is a mortal that is stronger than a God of Destruction, and the angels are laughable stronger than any of the gods.

So why is Beerus is treated as some kind of goal that can't be surpassed until the stars align, when they are dozens of people above him?

There is a mortal stronger than a god, whether it is Jiren or someone else. Why would such a person be hinted if Beerus was 'end of the series'. If anything, that just holds Super back.

The points I listed are highly based on subjective feelings. If you disagree, ok, but I dont feel the same way about it as you do.

So that episode was a bit of a wash. All it did was cement how underwhelming a presence Universe 11 is in this tournament with how many members have jobbed and how Jiren is a walking piece of cardboard with a frowny face drawn on it. Hit teaming up with Goku is neat on paper but the execution was lacking, the fight was more interesting when we saw Hit messing with not!Beerus instead of Goku just pulling God out of nowhere.

As an aside, Champa's VA screaming every five seconds is starting to grate.

EDIT: Dunno if this was posted here but Goku Is A Terrible Father Post#782423:

Gohan kinda sucks but I can kind of forgive Goten since, ya know, Goku got Chichi pregnant during the break Cell gave everyone and was then dead for 7 years, so...

I would riot if we got Cabba or Frost but not Hit.

Or worse Bardock
I have a special hatred in my heart for Bardock, but that hatred is no where near Cabba's,
They're all shit for a fighting game. Cabba has Galick Gun? Frost has poison attacks, tail whip? Bardock has generic energy ball that makes the opponet attack stronger, and headbutt where he yells FRIEZA?
