Xbox One X Preorder Thread

Guy that is currently at gamescom reports that the PS Edition has gradient from dark grey to black as you can see in the image below that was taken there. I am personally not happy about that if the color difference is indeed that visible!

Oh... Damn. That doesn't look great to me. I was hyped for just plain black with the subtle Scorpio nod. That 2 tone look is going to look pretty crappy pretty quick as it ages.

Woah! I had no idea that the color gradient was there. I just thought that was some interesting texturing on the entire console. Honestly I really like that look. It'll keep the box from just blending in completely with my entertainment center without looking too jarring. I love my One S, but the white stands out quite a bit right now.

Bring on November 7th! Between this and the Assassin's Creed Origin's information that Mike Ybarra just tweeted I'm a happy camper!

Edit: This unboxing video has the best view of the console yet. The gradient is definitely noticeable but I quite like it.

Indeed the best available image to show how the color gradient will look!

LOL

Tastes here are indeed very different

I am still not fully convinced about the gradient

We've had quite the rollercoaster of emotions in relation to the Project Scorpio edition! Some hated the green text but then warmed up to it, now we have the same debate about the color gradient. I wonder if there's some other design aspect we'll find next!

Yeah they mentioned it during major Nelson's unboxing

Looks terrible imo but they haven't given us a choice to get non-PS so whatever

I mean it looks fine on display like that but I think it will look terrible sitting next to other premium electronics

I went back and watched the Major Nelson unboxing video, and you can see that the gradient is heavier on the right side (bottom when standing) and is a lighter color, but the entire box seems to reflect like crazy with the lighting they are using (especially when he turns the X1X to put the stand on and when he places the controller in front of the X1X). I'm not planning on putting my X1X on display under flood lights, so hopefully the contrast will not be as striking as the pictures that were recently posted.

Hoping Microsoft store throws up a regular Xbox one x preorder soon. Getting nervous about he $560 in Microsoft credit I have sitting.
How'd you get that much credit?

Call me crazy but I think it looks good.

One more question: I can't purchase games from the Xbox app? I want to buy games and have them ready to download when the X arrives but I don't see the option.

Just catching up on all the Scorpio news managed to secure a Pre order Sunday night, that gradient...not to fussed as it will be in a recess in my unit so I shouldn't notice, hyped for it though!

Edit...gradient looks to go across the front as well...hmmm.

Haven't seen any sign of the One X on the sites I usually pre-order from (Coolblue and Amazon.de), so I'm still holding out. WIll pre-order once of of them is up, though.

It doesn't matter who we are, what matters is our plan.
I'm certain there wasn't a gradient on the one shown in the leak images.

I don't like it, so this reinforces my wait until I can get a standard edition.

Edit: there was, it just masks itself as an effect of lighting.

FYI, Amazon UK has preorders open again.

Yea I made that observation earlier in the thread from that same unboxing video. Personally I like it alot as well. Can't wait to get it.

Real curious about the build quality. Hope we don't have any issues after a couple of months.

Ditto! I would hope that after the Xbox 360 debacle, they don't plan to make that mistake ever again. It'd be really disappointing to get a Project Scorpio unit and not be able to get a replacement.

Yeah, I honestly had no idea it was there until now. I noticed that most of the promotional shots actually cover up that half of the console or cut it out of the frame entirely.

From the same video:
.

There is is difference, but the overlay (silk-screened or whatever) appears to be enhanced by the lighting.

The gradient seems quite noticeable. The shots you provided seem to show that the gradient effect is actually diminished by certain lighting, not the other way around. Look at the screenshot I posted earlier from that same video. Seems to be the best shot thus far in terms of natural lighting.

The Xbox One family build quality has been great. Wouldn't worry about that.

Damn I always thought that was the light from that dude's white table reflecting off the surface. I kinda want to trade it for the regular edition. :( I want the stand too though, and already paid cause I did that Microsoft Store gift card stuff Wario64 posted.

Is the 1X plastic too? For some reason I had the impression it was some sort of aluminum, metallic surface like the Surface VaporMg.

It's plastic. We aren't getting VaporMg for a console shell without bumping the price up by at least another $50-$100 for no real reason.

You'll be able to get a stand off Aliexpress for 2$ after launch if you really want it that much.

China don't care.

Ahh cool, I like to use my Kinect so will be ordering one of those.

I too hope they do the free adaptor thing again for those upgrading.

I might do this instead, once the standard edition goes up.

Not sure if you've seen it, but someone from Xbox seemed to imply that the standard edition won't be getting pre-orders. As far as we know, the "Project Scorpio Edition" is the only pre-order SKU.

Well that settles it, I won't be preordering. Probably a good thing.

Someone mentioned that the Project Scorpio edition is actually "made in Seattle/Redmond". Anyone know if there's any truth to this? I find this highly improbable...but I have to admit that a "Made in USA" tag would actually bump up the perceived value a bit for a lot of buyers....

As far as I know, Microsoft does not have any Xbox manufacturing facilities in Seattle/Redmond. Their consoles/controllers sometimes hide a "hello from Seattle" tag somewhere, but that's just due to their HQ being there.
