I'm not suggesting anything. I posted what has been reported in multiple media outlets. If anything, my sentiments are closest to the tweet I posted in the OP. Again, where did I ever say that women in Afghanistan have it good? Hell, where did I ever state any opinion on the matter? Even my sarcastic comment did not contain any hint of an opinion on any of this.
You're putting words in my mouth and starting an argument where there is none.
OK, you're right that you're just re-stating what the media is reporting. So, I'll rephrase and say the way the media is reporting on this, is pretty gross and it discounts the
obvious human rights implications from the picture, in an effort to paint Trump as more unreasonable.
If the decision was just based on mini skirts it would be ridiculous, but since the photograph communicates an obvious and huge loss of rights for women in Afghanistan (that goes above and beyond just wearing miniskirts) the proposed reasoning for this decision is unlikely (even for Trump).
Again, I hate him as much as the next person, but in discounting that this decision could be based on human rights, the media is completely discounting the obvious symbolism of the picture. Lets not accidentally reduce the issue of women's rights in Afghanistan to: "They can't show off their legs." And let's not put that idea out there, unless Trump
actually says it, when there's a clear and obvious other meaning for this picture.
