Also what's the difference between Borderless Windowed and Windowed Fullscreen lmao

Need a GeForce Experience guide :p
Borderless Windowed you can pick the resolution size of the window, Windowed Fullscreen is fullscreen. That being said, borderless windowed still didn't fill my whole screen when set to my native res for some reason.

So windowed full screen is just a maximized window? Does that actually need its own setting?
Windowed Fullscreen is a borderless as well.

I'd be curious to see what the FPS is with everything on the highest but with MSAA turned off. Seems like that one is an FPS-killer and is bugged / not working in the Beta.

Highest settings with SMAA instead of MSAA:

Highest settings with SMAA and HDAO instead of 3D:

So yeah, it was MSAA tanking the frame rate. I'd just dip under 60fps in that heavy scene with these setting. But it seems a mix of high and highest is definitely possible for 1080/60 without any dips ever.

I'm excited to see impressions of this playing on an ultrawide monitor setup. I use a 1060 6gb to drive my 1080p ultrawide at 75hz. Dropping a couple of settings is nothing to get that higher frame rate.

Nice! Thanks for testing it. Excited to get home from work and throw my GTX 1070 / 1440p GSync combo at this

So how cpu intensive is the game? My cpu is quite old at this point (i7 870 @ 2,93). Doesn't look like a very cpu intensive game but you can never know.

Little bit different environment. Your trained eye notice here anything?

3D on left and HDAO on right.

The usual flipping between the two gives the obvious impression that the 3D AO is more accurately occlusing light on the weapon view model, look at the inside of the chamber for example, or where the hands meet the gun. With HDAO, they are rather unshaded looking.

Within the environment itself, you have the instance where HDAO is shading darker manily only where geometry meets, where as 3D is also shading occlusion in areas underneath the overhang. I am not at all sure how it works, but I think it looks more accurate to how real light should be occluded. I guess a great test you be to see what your view model looks like right next to a wall, I imagine that HDAO might have an artifact halo and 3D AO would not. Just a guess though.

Quick impression. This seems really good. 1080 Ti plus i7 4790K, running at 1440p. Running mostly at 100+ fps, I saw it drop to the low 80 in the busiest scene.

This is with everything maxed out except for AA, I had that at SMAA. That's the only real issue I had so far, SMAA leaves a lot of shimmering edges, MSAA murders framerate (it drops the framerate by about 30fps), but doesn't seem to do anything. The game looks really clean, but it could be a smoother presentation.

I'm really impressed with how it plays though, this is a revelation after playing Destiny 1 on consoles. Responsive mouse controls and high framerates make a huge difference.

Yeah after flipping back and forth between the images I think the 3D AO looks much better. Most noticeably the self shadowing within parts of the gun model.

Just tested on my Athlon x4 640 system with 8gb ram 1050ti 4gb 1080p 60 locked medium settings that CPU isn't even meet the minimum requirements. I'm putting a FX-6300 in it before launch

The only issue so far is the character creation is a little zoomed in, but the gameplay looks great and the cutscenes (even the FMVs) are in full 21:9

this makes me super happy. Always find it a little jarring to see the screen pop to 16:9 cutscenes/BINK/whatever prerendered stuff when you are immersed in all the 21:9 display.

Really stoked to check out PC tomorrow. PS4 will remain the main place to play because of peer pressure but will definitely play on PC once in a while for funsies and eye-candy.

Hmm.. something is wrong on my end then and just with destiny.

i5 3470 3.4ghz and r9 280.. gpu is around 40-50%. cpu is 100% all the time.. it drops constantly under 60.

HDR is working for me after the dumb mandatory toggle in the system settings. With a 1080ti I only get a steady 4K/60fps on highest preset after a bump down in AA and a switch to HDAO.

If it helps, on an overclocked 2600k the CPU usage never went beyond 50% when I checked the afterburner log.

And they made him a Lord of Cinder. Not for virtue, but for might. Such is a lord, I suppose. But here I ask. Do we have a sodding chance?
Can someone PLEASE show me side comparisons of lowest graphics compared to highest on the same spots?

That odd
My sons system I7 4770k 12gb ram 1060 6gb 1080p max settings perfect 60fps too.

All my systems have SSD's too

It's just a beta so I expect that performance will improve in the final release. The fact there is barely any difference between graphics setting is very strange. MSAA should be turned off considering there is SMAA which yields great results, and barely impacts performance.

If that actually keeps 60 in larger AI / multiplayer fights... then that really puts the jags into some insane perspective.

980ti slight oc 16gb ram and a 2600k@4.0ghz highest settings (SMAA) at 1080p I get around 70-120 fps with some occasions going up to 144fps and even as low as 59. The battle to the right of the Inverted Spire when you first start the mission dropped me down to 59 with the highest in that area being in the 75-80s. 95% of the time my fps is fine but maybe my cpu is causing the major drop.

Okay, I must be missing something. Running a 1080Ti here, but I don't have a 60fps option in my VSYNC menu. Seems like everyone else has one... what am I doing wrong?

My suggestion would be to drop Environment Draw down to High instead of Highest. Will probably help get your min up, and isn't going to make a terribly big difference I think.

A lot of headroom at 1440p, on highest preset - with AA on SMAA (hearing the issues with MSAA here). Sticking around 100-120fps on a 1080Ti, 4770K @ 4.5Ghz in the intro section.

Other than the anti-aliasing, which should hopefully be fixed by release, I'm very happy with it. It feels very polished.

So far I can only log into the EU servers so I dunno if this is having an effect on my FPS, but I'll get random dips down to 74-75 FPS every 5-10 seconds and then back up to 144hz.

This game runs beautifully.

6700k @ 4.4 and 1080 @ 2.1ghz. 2560x1440p is so smooth. Have everything on Highest besides AA, which I set to SMAA, and it's always in triple digits fps.

My highest available res is 1650x1080 (somethi g like that) on a 4k tv, any solutions?

Make sure your PC on desktop is set to 4k, and any type of scaling or zooming is turned off. Then try again, worst case, you can do borderless fullscreen and it will run at desktop res

Ah, so I'm a dummy. Recent driver update for some reason reset my display rate to 30Hz, which removed correct vsync options. I didn't notice because I was playing PUBG and just figured a recent update to that game destroyed my framerate. All good now.

Played on an Intel HD 520.

720p, everything on low...shitty fps, but still had fun lol
Hopefully my 1080 arrives before it's over so I can try it on my desktop.

After completing the mission 3x I'm happy with the performance, high preset with 16x AF and highest textures seems to be the sweet spot for me, anything else and I dip under 60fps in that intense scene. It's beta so I'm hoping the final build will be just a tiny bit more optimised so the scenes where I'm skating just above 60 move up to mid 60 or 70. But overall I'm really happy with it. Just the fact there's no stutter, hitching or mouse issues is a good sign.

Smooth as hell on my 7950 and makes the console version look like s**t, in this case 60 fps are a total game changer.
Awesome job Bungie!

Man it's good to hear this. I'm still sitting on a GTX 760, so I'm interested to see what kind of fps I'll be getting when the beta goes open tomorrow. Hearing the 7950 performance has me hopeful!

So to play in HDR:

  1. Most current drivers
  2. most current windows update
  3. turn on HDR in display settings in windows
  4. enable in game

Is that the idea?

Also, so dumb that they (still) have a universal toggle in Windows. It should just enable as needed.

MSAA and SMAA? Hrm.

Motion blur is just camera blur, right?

Yeah... those high contrast edges on the ship :X

Not every game is Crysis 3 MSAA quality sadly.

They should have gone with TAA instead, MSAA is useless these days.

TAA + resolution scaling is the best AA method today.
