Destiny 2 |OT| Here We Go Again

honestly what anyone in particular considers to be a spoiler or not is totally irrelevant. Anything in the leak of the strategy guide is for the moment as the game is not even out. :p

In this particular case though it's pretty simple... it was intentionally kept a secret. it was plainly intended to be discovered in game. that's really all there is to it. I do hope there are at least some people who go in and have it be a surprise.

Aight. Only for you though, Hawkian.

The thing about the Devour tree though... you don't get the Nova Bomb tracking anymore right? I'd love to have that as well.

when did Destiny become such a fan favorite?...I remember when the 1st game came out it wasn't all that well received...it still only holds a 76 Metacritic score...people are acting like Destiny 2 is Half Life 2...or did the game improve drastically?

* I never played D1 but loved the PC beta so I plan on picking it up when it drops in October

It’s an MMO-lite so the game is always evolving. Fans stuck with it and it turned into something pretty good.

The game improved drastically. It became my game of the generation when House of Wolves came out. We had 3 endgame activities, lots of strikes, a fun PVP meta and lots of loot to collect. Destiny Year 1 was incredible.

I think it's just one of those things.

The controls are really tight, it looks gorgeous, and it was really community drive. A lot of people found their consistent gaming communities playing Destiny.

I for one never did find anyone to play with, though I still spend over 100 hours in the original. I'm hoping I can find a somewhat consistent crew this time around.

When the Taken King launched, it came with a slew of improvements that only got better since (imo)

D1 started slow, basically. Vanilla was still a lot of fun, especially once the endgame kind of got figured out, but the expansions added a lot of quality content and QoL upgrades. At the end of its life D1 was a really great game, so it's exciting to see where D2 will take us

It was a fan favorite from the beginning just for being really fun to play. Some of the biggest fans of the game are the ones who are most vocal about its shortcomings even imo

Destiny improved in many ways since release, Destiny 2 basically picking up where those improvements left off.

This is what is going to get me to make Voidwalker the second subclass I max. The uptime on Devour can be insane, especially once we know all the exotics I'd wager.

I can see Bungie nerfing Devour branch quite hard if lifeleech has too much up time.

Not sure where you're seeing the HL2 comparisons but Destiny was an immensely enjoyable experience if you were a part of the community or had people to run through it all with. I had no hype for the original game and barely knew anything about it but coming out the other side it's my most played game of all time, and one where I've had some of my favourite gaming moments of all time in.

If you got attached to Destiny then Destiny 2 looks set to be another 3 years of that same fun.

Destiny was hated by the critics and loved by most players, it was the first MMO like game for a lot of people. The community is pretty great too.

I never got to play the Beta. What was everyone's favorite part about that so much so that they're excited about in Destiny 2?

It was surprising to me. I saw someone play through the first story mission on Youtube and I was eager to see what happened next at the end of the last cutscene.

Are there any publisher rules about D2 streaming on the 6th?

I'm hoping to watch streams since I'll be sitting this game out. Don't have the free time necessary to put into the game like I did the first one.

Only a minority left the game

I guess it's not a big deal for PVE, but Nova Bomb tracking is the coolest and funniest shit I've seen in D2 so far lol.
Cataclysm (the slow nova) is pretty awesome too, and takes a bit of skill to use well. I haven't seen a lot of people manually detonating it but I bet there is awesome potential there considering the tracking seekers.

So yeah, Empowering Rift, Vortex Nade, with a Devour Effect going on, chain grenades on fast coolown with and kills that is very tempting to play.

Destiny gunplay was always it's strong point to me. Initially the game was decent, but lacked quite a bit. DLC's and content updates made Destiny 1 much better, and improved on just about everything.

That being said... if it wasnt for DGAF there is no way I would have stuck around for this long.

Anyone else picking up the PS4 version to tide them over until the PC launch? =/ I'm not sure which community I'll end up sticking with.

This is exactly what I'm doing. I'll most likely play on PC most of the time when it's released, but I may jump back and forth since I'll still have friends that play on PS4.

Taking King was what changed my mind on it, really disliked it at launch and dropped it pretty quickly, but me and a few friends decided to give it another shot with TTK and fell in love with it. Became one of, if not my most played game since.

Destiny has always been popular , and reviews dont really matter for this type of game. Its all up to whether you enjoy the idea of a loot grind and the content of it.

Imma be doin that; gettin ps4 this week and then selling it when PC is out..

At its release, it was the largest-ever launch for a new IP this gen. After that, it kept charting well. If you listened to naysayers on GAF or a few journalists, you’d have believed everybody quit the game in disappointment. What actually happened?

A year later TTK released - a US$40 DLC not included in the original season pass - and saw a higher day 1 population than even vanilla launch. The population never cratered - it grew.

Even after all the content was over, with an announcement of zero pending updates to the game, after we had literally played every single activity too many times to count and a ton of great games had released to get people off Destiny - hundreds of thousands of accounts played Trials (endgame PvP requiring a 3-person team with no matchmaking).

Destiny was, and never ceased to be, an extremely flawed game. Flawed in many regards. But the gameplay hooked a *big* number of players regardless.

When the game came out I was pretty disappointed with the lackluster campaign and story. It deserves the ratings it got. I stopped playing after 2 months.

3 years later, there really isn't any other game like it. It provides a unique experience with the coop raids and near flawless gunplay. The story lore is much better now and they made enough quality of life improvements that has made the game much better today. Basically, it is not the same game as it was three years ago and honestly, almost all the hate it gets today are people who just played the vanilla campaign and stopped playing after.

I think this had a lot to do with it. Sort of the World of Warcraft effect. Destiny was pretty much the first MMO style game that was fully built around the console space, had a very large name attached to it and the resources to back it pretty hard.

Any word on whether infusion is back or something similar. In the sense of how it was handled toward the end of D1. Made levelling toons much easier. Spoiler if necessary.

Didn't get the memo regarding the 14th Amendment
So if weapon stats are fixed, what does that mean for when you get a weapon at level 5, but you're now level 10. Does it scale with your level or is there a level 10 version of those fixed stats set for level 10? I'm mainly wondering to know when to purchase exotics and whatnot, because if the exotic is weaker because of my level then I would hold off.

Phantasy Star Online was first.

And Destiny is basically a modern PSO heh.

Yup!

I played over 1500 hours of Destiny 1 on PS4. For D2 I am fully invested in PC come 10/24, but because I still have many friends on PS4 and the hype levels I also double dipped into the PS4 version.

Same here. TTK was such a good expansion. The Dreadnaught was definitely my favourite zone in Destiny 1 =)

I've heard it being referred to as Slowva Bomb
