Looking for a new wallet recommendation for < $350. Help!

Some people are comfortable spending money for high quality and known brands because those items bring them greater joy and have specifics that people are seeking.

The cheapest wallet that's on my radar for when I need to upgrade is around 80.

This card holder looks real good:

I have a LV, Burberry and Ferragamo wallet, but after a certain amount you dont pay for quality anymore and only for the brand, as long as you dont opt for stuff like crocodile- or snake leather.

It will be hard to notice a difference concerning quality after around the 150-200€ Gucci wallet and the new 650€ bee wallet by Gucci.

I think my wallet was thirty bucks at Penny's. Had it for years, it's not wearing out, probably have it for many more.

There is definitely a threshold where quality does not continue to increase but with certain brands you also are able to get the high quality good with free returns and repairs.

My LV wallet that I now loathe can be serviced at any time at any LV store.

Some people are definitely okay with paying for brand names as well.

If we are discussing price tiers within brand then I believe brands will price limited, and high fashion pieces higher. Spending 200 for a wallet at Burberry will more than likely have the same quality as a 400 one.

happy to do so. Hard Graft's stuff is really dope.

I'll give burberry a look.

design is not bad, but you'd be surprised how different better quality leather looks, feels and lasts. It's like buying a good pair of wingtips. Sure you could buy a pair of $75 wingtips, but there is a marked difference between them and the $800 pair of wingtips that are so comfortable and good looking that you will resole them before replacing them.

thanks for the tip. will look into now.

edit: oh i love their color options already.

But but you're not wearing a wallet. After a week having $300+ wallet it'll just be any other wallet that you keep you loose change and receipts.

If you're trying to impress other people then just buy a money clip and clip on a couple be Benjamin to show you have money.

$350 for wallets? $800 for shoes?

I mean I'm pretty well off and all, I could even afford to spend that kind of money but damn... I spend like 1/10th of that on wallets and shoes...

Sure. Im just saying that at a certain point its not about quality anymore, but the brand. I mean I have my wallets because of the brand, not because of the quality.

This is the one I am currently rocking:

Had to send it to repair to Italy one time already though.

Dont ever go to the LV store in Düsseldorf. Worst LV flagship store I ever went to... One time I went in there the security asked me where I want to go (was just wearing casual).

Spending a little more is worth it. A genuine leather wallet (like the ones from Saddleback) will cost at least $50-$100, but will last pretty much forever.

That $20 wallet is going to fall apart.

I've had the same $35 wallet for almost 20 years.

People are just overspending because we are conditioned to spend as much money as possible.

I use these freebies you can pick up from a bank or a London Underground station. $350 is more than I've ever held in a wallet.

As someone who's been using the same 10$ wallet for over 16 years this thread is quite something.

350 goddamn

GAF's okay with spending thousands on a watch that works as well as a $10 Casio or hundreds on a wallet that functions exactly the same as a $5 billfold, but a $999 top-of-the-line phone or $499 ($599) most-powerful-console-ever is a cause for neverending derision.

An automatic watch will never function the same as a 10$ casio watch.

My parents got me a leather wallet from JCPenney for around $30 about 17-18 years ago, and it's still held up. What makes these so much better that they cost 10 times as much? I wouldn't be opposed to getting a new one because those do look really nice.
This shit. Holy fuck. $350? I've used three wallets in my life. The first one I bought in highschool 14 years ago and was black canvas material with a skull patch on the top... which is why I got rid of it.

The other two I still have, are perfectly fine, have survived hurricanes, swimming, are faux leather, and will likely survive another decade. The only reason I have two is because I was experiencing with the different styles; one is a black bi-fold, the other is a brown tri-fold. I like bi-fold more.

I definitely agree. My decisions for purchasing items are probably influenced 30% by a brand. What I think is important to remember is that a person basing their decision on a brand is not a bad thing if they are self-aware. Though to be clear I do not believe you have argued otherwise so it sounds like we are on the same page.

I know I wanted a Rolex because of the history of the watch. But then I felt out of love with the brand and didn't feel that their time pieces would be what I would like to wear.

Nice Ferragamo! How long did the repair take?

2 months.... lol

I mean I get that people base their decision often on a brand and I am not saying its a bad thing. I would just say, in my experience, a lot of people saying they chose the 600€ over the 300€ one because of quality, cant be believed ;)

Yo OP,

I had a few Hard Graft stuff (one I bought, one I got as a gift) and didn't like it at all.

It wasn't even that skinny, and the felt made it feel cheap. The vegetable tan leather was nice though.

I've been really happy with Belroy wallets, and if you wanted something more personal, I would look into Chester Mox.

Good huntings OP.

Jesus Christ. I felt guilty spending $15 on my wallet from amazon.

Seriously, I think I spent 10 dollars on mine at Sears... certainly no more than $20, and it's lasted for 13+ years. It meets all of OP's requirements too, except it's from the women's section.... though honestly you couldn't tell.

Hey guys.
Do you have recommendations for wallets less than $30?
I think that may produce more worthwhile responses and results.

I recommend just buying a $25 dollar wallet and stuffing it with $325 of ones and then heading to your nearest gentleman's club.

See? I can't understand this. It's just a wallet. It's not like a car that might need to be sent off to be repaired.

Its a hand-made wallet. I mean if you buy a swiss watch, you wouldnt let your shopping mall watch shop try to fix it, especially if its an automatic watch, would you?

I mean I dont get why people are surprised you might want a 350€ wallet. If its about a car, people would easily pay 600€ more just to get one small part of extra equipment (better AC, better navigation system) or even on GAF people discuss whether the 1500 or 1900$ TV is better.

I’m with OP on spending up for quality leather goods and craftsmanship. Clothing wise I spend the majority of my clothing budget on sneakers, shoes and accessories.

I’ve been running with the following two options:

11902262_8951885_322.jpg

Holds cash and cards without issue. Ran about $175 they have an updated version that is croc based, I believe. Normally carry my ID, two cards & a few big bills and still have room for an extra card or two.

My main wallet. Ran about $360. Holds plenty, more than enough room.

I get that but there's a big difference between an intricate hand-made wrist watch that you wear on your arm and a wallet that just sits in your pocket most of the time.

Yeah but just like Limited Edition Jordan's, aren't you basically just saying "Look at me! I'm a target!"

The less people see of your wallet, the better. :p

Do people really identify with something like an expensive ass wallet the same way they do with an iPhone or some other high price product? It's a thing you put cash and credit cards inside. Might as well have the same type of reverence for a toilet brush.

I mean I paid 130€ for a mechanical keyboard but I use it severeal hours a day and boy does it type and sound great and these things last a lifetime. I just don't see the same kind of payoff with a goddamn wallet.
