This is the dumbest fucking post in this thread. I thought it'd be Sammy's post, but congrats. You've outdone Sammy.
So by your logic, did they also abandon the previous audience they'd built on PS2 when they moved to PSP? And then did they abandon the audience again going from PSP to Wii, and then Wii to 3DS?
Sammy, take notes from this guy. This is how you troll. Not the weak shit you've been peddling lately.
The small audience that was there on PS2 naturally went to the PSP.
The Wii didn't work as well as expected, despite doing still way better than the PS2 versions, and Capcom got good Nintendo support from that.
PSP version was still there during the Wii era, then went on the next big handheld (not the next big Nintendo or Sony platform) to continue on those numbers. Nintendo's marketing support helped them to make it bigger than a million seller in the west on 3DS.
WiiU and PS3 versions were just basic HD versions that didn't do much.
Now it's going from a big handheld audience with crossplatform play to 3 platforms (one months later, and one with no audience for japanese games) with no crossplatform play, all without numbers showing an appetite for hunting games.
Still looking for a counter-argument instead of just the "it's dumb!" posts though. And it has been the case since months... Most people can agree that it will do weaker numbers worldwide than the previous versions, not sure why we're suddenly back to "this is gonna ba huge!" posts.
Your colors are showing
You cant sit here and argue Nintendo shit without acknowledging Sony as well
Multiple bases have been screwed over the history of the franchise thanks to exclusivity
Now we are finally breaking free. This is the most inclusive release in the series history
Simultaneous Global release, 3 platforms, Cross region play. And hell we all know Nintendo is still gonna get a 5th gen game
So drop the bullshit. This is the best case scenario based on precedent alone. This approach is easily superior than past practices that ALWAYS excluded someone
I'm getting MHW on PC, and said I'd get the PS4 Pro if it was coming here.
I don't really see how I'm not acknowledging the game, when my issue is with Capcom's strategy.
The global release is not simultaneous on all platforms, there's no cross region play on PC, and looking forward to your receipts for the Nintendo 5th gen game.
Funny talking about "true colors" when for years before that you pushed for a PS4/Vita game at every 3DS game reveal/discussion thread, when I'm just saying that the issue there is basically from an exclusivity to a different exclusivity.
So we're they abandoning the audience they'd been building on PlayStation since the franchise inception when they went all in on Nintendo platforms?
There are still a lot of fans who will play Monster Hunter regardless of what platform it's on, but Monster Hunter couldn't stay on 3DS forever. This game has been in development for a long time, before Switch was even a thing. Capcom wanted to try and bring the series forwards and so PS4, XB1 and PC make sense. I'm sure if Switch was a thing earlier it would have also been included as well.
See my first reply above for the first paragraph.
And again for the second paragraph, don't mix up hardcore fans that will buy the game anywhere (like me, you and most people in this thread), and a more casual userbase that hasn't shown any interest on home consoles so far.
Again, we'll see how it does, but there's no argument for it becoming some big success in the West (since it won't be one in Japan). Looks and seems like a great game made with a lot of effort from the dev team, and I'm looking forward to it, but we all know that's not enough to make a game a multi million seller without the appropriate marketing, release strategy, and gameplay changes.
edit: lol, what was I saying about DrROBschiz and the Vita (when it never made sense as a platform)...
