Champ isn't doing that, he's just playing matches online.

Probably have to wait for Tool assisted to hook us up with the frame data.

We are going to be playing in the dark for quite some time with this game. Nevermind frame data we still don't know exactly how something like the HSD works or other mechanics.

There are a total of like 2800 players on the ranked leaderboards. Somewhere between 3k-4k peak concurrent players yesterday.

So less than half of PC SFV.

The peak ended up being approximately 3.6k on PC. By comparison SFV's peak was roughly 14k. More than 3 times higher. And this is the same game that had underwhleming sales.

I honestly never thought that mvci would reach SFV's numbers but it looks like it wont even be close. Everything is pointing to this being a huge bomb.

Even with all the hype they built at E3?

I welcome this upcoming Capcom-FG dark age if it means we get another 3D Fighter renaissance like the previous Capcom Dark Age:

2000: Tekken Tag Tournament
2001: Virtua Fighter 4
2002: Tekken 4
2003: Soul Calibur 2
2004: Tekken 5
2005: Soul Calibur 3

That's not really surprising. Mahvel has always been much less popular that Street Fighter.

Way more people bought Marvel 3 than SFV.

In any case, the issue here isn't that this game is less popular than SF. It's that it's going to possibly sell less than Marvel 3 or do numbers that are catastrophically bad. This is 100% a case of Capcom completely mismanaging their FG IPs. The negative impact of SFV has seeped into MVCI as well though MVCI had its own share of issues.

i appreciate that Frank West looks different in every game

he is capcom's yoshimitsu
Everytime frank gets a redesign he looks worse

Shlubby ghostbusters reject dr1 frank is god tier

OTR frank is fine I guess, the rest 😷

Yoshi has consistently looked good, some questionable costumes throughout the years but he looks cool nonetheless

The bug samurai one is cool, also the alien looking one they used for sfxt

Also sucks that mvci is paying for sfvs sins but at the same time the game looks like ass they kinda brought it upon themselves, too bad this one is fun

Hopefully capcom learns the right lesson here (they won't)

watch VF6 get announced at JAEPO2018 literally weeks before DBFZ drops and killing any hype i have for a 2D fighter

i am genuinely excited about DBFZ, the beta was so fun

who am i kidding, even after its announced i won't get to play it for years

Not liking the ruleset for Wednesday Night Fights and SCR. Should allow auto combo/auto super jump/etc since it's configurable per player and it eases people in. Most won't use it, but why not allow it? It doesn't give an advantage.

Also easy hyper combos definitely should be allowed. You can punish some supers with Haggar and Cap's supers on reaction with it, but you can't otherwise (super freeze eats inputs except easy hyper combo)

Crosspost from the MvCI OT. Any thoughts guys? I think restricting it early on is a bad idea, people will be more hesitant to change later.

Well it really all started with SFxT... Why SFV was only approved after funding from Sony..

I want to believe, but based on the constant news of layoffs and such, and then seeing AM2's software output i can't see any other conclusion.

The only other 2 plausible scenarios to me are:

- Some other internalized Sega studio has been working on it in the shadows for the past 7 years.
- VF gets outsourced to another developer.

Or AM2 is working on it. I don't see why that isn't possible. There have been no reports of AM2 layoffs specifically and they just put out Soul Reverse this year.

I also feel that in an age where ASW can drop a 3v3 DBZ announcement out-of-fucking-nowhere and SEGA hosts a location test for an Unreal 4-based arcade racer a literal week after announcing that they've been working on it, it's not a compelling argument to say 'we don't know about a game, so the game does not exist.'

It's definitely possible, just not plausible based on the decisions of Sega making AM2 more mobile & F2P focused along with Sega's Version B patch for FS was simply shutting down VF.net just points in the direction of Sega being done with the IP.

The only glimmer of hope was the inclusion of VF5 in Yakuza 6 but it looks more of a legacy decision rather than actual interest in reviving the franchise. I'd love to be wrong though.

Wouldn't it be more discouraging if ver. B were a balance patch? 5 years after FS hits arcade, they're balancing it out of nowhere instead of working on the next one?
Next year is the 25th anniversary, for what it's worth. 2018 or never.

Honestly that would spur a lot more encouragement because that would prove to me Sega has designated designers and programmers to a distinct VF project in order to balance patch the game. Whatever changes they are putting into that fantasy patch would be irrelevant since the potential VF6 would be so much different.

The 20th anniversary of VF also passed to 0 fanfare except reading excerpts from other developers like Ono and such praising the legacy VF left behind. I doubt Sega cares.

Some people on GAF like to throw around that "Soul Calibur is dead" every now and then but the VF situation is significantly more dire since Namco actively teases Soul Calibur related things on facebook. Also, the current main producer of the Soul Calibur series Masaki Hoshino has been actively developing Pokken tournament for Switch that's releasing very soon. We have tangible evidence the talent still exists at Namco to eventually make a new Soul Calibur game but the same can't be said about Sega & Virtua Fighter unfortunately on any of these things.

You lot may joke aboud DOA6, but that is coming. Nobody knows with VF since Sega is a bunch of wierdos.

If it did not have to rely on humans who work in sega, I would expect VF. But Sega is run by humans so I expect nothing.
Jokes on anybody who expected doa at tgs

Although SEGA's social media presence isn't close to that of Namco's, they have shared VF related content:
https://twitter.com/SEGA_OFFICIAL/status/885292438016761856
https://twitter.com/SEGA_OFFICIAL/status/876243080868802560

It literally has as much presence in their social media as Virtual On, which is getting a new game.

They also renewed the license last year and as you know included FS in Yakuza 6 last year.

As for their 20th anniversary being 'excerpts from other developers', it was almost entirely from the VF scene and VF developers.
