Destiny 2 |OT2| Leviathan Wakes (Spoiler Tag ALL Raid Discussion)

It's week two. Give stuff time to develop and Destiny 2 will have it's own loot developments. Hell, I'd argue it already does with Merciless, Uriel's Gift, Mida w/ HCR, etc... These are highly reputed and highly coveted weapons. And we've only really scratched the surface as people haven't yet played with the mods to the full extent in creating builds.

Not saying D2 is perfect but D1 certainly wasn't either. It's been 14 days. More fads, patterns, Meta, and I'm sure more secrets will appear over time.

Hawkmoon was highly coveted by most of the community from Day 1 due to its amazing visual/sound design and perks...I'm not talking about just the community here. I wasn't around for D1 but Hawkian sounds like a smart lad.

Nobody is excited about a MIDA anymore, let's be real.

Wanting more interesting loot in a game based around grinding for loot is perfectly reasonable.

Hell - there's only 1 new exotic helmet and gauntlets for both Hunters and Titans.

Hand cannons finally clicked with me once I got Better Devils. I have been running it as my primary in all PvE content and it feels great. Pair it up with Uriel's Gift in the energy slot and it is a well rounded load out. I forgot how satisfying OHK head shots are with hand cannons.

I'm using the old fashioned revolver, it's pretty good for PvE, super fast reload speed and reloading after a kills grants bonus damage for a while. If you get it try it out ;)

Yeah MIDA... and scout rifles in general feel.... so off in Destiny 2

Like... They dont hit hard, range and recoil is wonky. I have yet to find a scout rifle that even comes close to the scouts I used in Destiny 1

Does anyone else notice this?

Hmmm, I guess I didn't use scouts as much overall in Destiny so I dunno. Call to Serve, Nameless Midnight and Tone Patrol are all extremely satisfying and fun to shoot for me (the Dragonfly effect needs to be improved though sadly). I only used MIDA in Trials but it certainly felt good and had ridiculous range.

Yea, pulse him almost as hard and far quicker with less recoil.

Destiny has always had an issue balancing; PVP especially.

I just seem to have a harder time landing precision shots and heck.. Tone Patrol is similar to one of my favorite guns (DIS-43 from D1) but it doesnt hit anywhere as hard

Hobgoblins take 2-3 precision shots and its harder to land than before. And I used a Full Auto DIS-43 back in D1

Maybe its all in my head but Scouts just feel weeeeaaaaakkkk

Yeah, definitely agree. Dragonfly AoE is very small and it hits like a 2 year old. Puzzling since they got sunshot firefly effect down quite well.

Just noticed I lost my keys from today's raid, got them on a titan then switched to a warlock which I haven't finished the story with yet = keys gone :(

RIP Mida, you will be missed.

If anybody from Bungie lurks here, please consider showing this video to the PVP team.

Analysis: Why We Should Buff More Than Nerf

Instead of nerfing Mida and Scouts, buff every single other weapon to make it at least a considerable option.

Consider bringing back actual mobility to make gameplay fun, this whole slow bullshit gameplay is BORING.

Also, get rid of that stupid radar delay bug, don't give me "esports oh my balance" excuses, just get rid of it.

I could go on all day with this, start with that.

Tone Patrol was so exciting to get and so sombering to use

It just tickles enemies even when landing precision hits. You basically have to rely on Firefly which in itself is nerfed to oblivion

And its much harder to aim than I remember these scouts being when fast firing. I basically have to space shots like a hand cannon

so just to be sure always use engrams even exotics, dont wait?

Engrams in your inventory to use at the Cryptarch, like exotics or legendaries you found on the ground, yes. Ones being held for you by NPCs as rewards, you can wait if you want and they will scale up the higher you get.

It's a shame. I can understand they wanted to set Sunshot apart, but they maybe overcorrected. A firefly burst of the element of your choice on a scout would be great. Hopefully it will be improved.

I just remember Scouts being easier to precision shot and deal consistent damage

That no longer seems to be the case. They fire slower, dont one shot all minors (even with precision) and seem to have less overall aim assist and stronger recoil

I currently run better devils is its just my go to bread and butter weapon

Bungie doesn't want power creep and they definitely don't want the game to be "fast". They made Halo slower every release and D1 got slower with every patch.

In D3 we'll be rolling around like Gears.

So I just discovered I have played this game for 140 hours. My third character isn't even level 20 yet. heh

How do you check playtime? wastedondestiny doesn't seem to work for D2.

I wonder when Bungie is going to bring back the stats screen in the app/bungie.net.

So what makes MIDA so good

Based on my time with it ..

It seems to fire slower and doesnt flinch as hard as it used to

Maybe since all guns seem to be around the same level or lower it just stands out anyways?

Hey Hunters, What class (and sub tree) is everyone using and what's a good hunter exotic armor piece?

We should definitely buff more than nerf as a go-to in the videogame industry. However, I feel the current numbers and the way the guns play right now in PVP is fine. MIDA is overtuned that overshadows everything. This is a 100% needed nerfing situation.

so just to be sure always use engrams even exotics, dont wait?

If you want to get the exotic Sturm, one step you have to take is to decrypt 5 Legendary Engrams and one Exotic Engram. I think the best way to do this is to hold onto the first 5
(or 4, and wait to get another later) Legendaries and 1 Exotic that drop without decrypting. The reason is because you'll get those during a period when you're easily able to progress in power already, and you're constantly getting new gear, with not much benefit to infusing things yet, because you're constantly finding better gear. That allows you to decrypt the later Engrams that drop, thereby potentially benefiting you more.

This strategy isn't necessary, but I think it probably works best.

Maybe its cuz I didnt use MIDA much in crucible but it didnt feel that super overpowered to me or scouts in General but Ill admit I dont play much crucible

I'll think this release is closer to Taken king than Vanilla destiny

Either way we are seeing a LOT of freakout despite the upcoming content detailed in the roadmap not to mention we already have details on the first expansion

We will see but I know for a fact that even with their new toolset it will be impossible to keep the most dedicated players satiated completely

The upcoming road map includes Faction Rally (factions were in D1 vanilla, but there might be more to them this time), hard mode raid (was in D1 vanilla), and IB (was in D1 vanilla). All this content was in D1 except maybe Faction Rally depending if they added more to it. I agree with a lot of that reddit post; it wouldn't take a lot to improve the end game (most of the content is in the game just redundant at end game). We need to be getting more content than what we got in D1 vanilla, and we should be getting more content than when D1 ended.

The Cryptarch's Bane
At 140 hours here.

I will offer everyone the same piece of advice I have used for years and the only one that really matters.

If you are having fun playing Destiny then continue playing Destiny, as much of and as many of the parts of the game as you enjoy.
If you are not having fun playing Destiny then stop playing Destiny, forever. Or at least until the next content release if you can't manage forever.
Mida is tbe EDZ exotic quest line, right?
Yes. Vault any rare scout rifles you find starting now.

http://www.d2checklist.com/ Add up the "Total Minutes" for all characters.

Raid and PvE (Tether) (top tree) I've been using Knucklehead as it came w/ a +Resiliance mod which is rare, but the boots that give Class Ability Energy seems ok?

PvE stuff Arcstrider (top tree) Raiden Flux helps you stun lock bosses and clear rooms with "RB/R2"

Nameless midnight is the best weapon in PvE currently

Is it any surprise the games being/been nerfed out of existence when you have captain no fun in charge of the carnage that is the crucible

Must be a bundle of laughs in his house

As an outsider reading peoples thoughts on the game (and having played enough of D1 to know how these things go) the whole thing looks like a RoI type expansion, just enough to keep peoples interest for a month then it will slowly die off, next expansion will change some of the nerfs then the second will open the floodgates, rinse and repeat

So only nightstalkers seem to enjoy the dodge. That's the only subclass I don't touch. I feel like it's a real waste of a perk. I wish we had something that could support our teammates instead.

Arcstriders have a perk that resets the dodge on melee kill...and also resets your melee ability when dodging close to an enemy. Can make for an interesting aggressive playstyle in PVP.

The difference being there is a possible DLC only 8 weeks away which means they can start teasing and talking about it sooner rather than later.

Best auto/pulse/scout rifles... my thinking with loads of PvE and limited Crucible time so far in D2:

  • Cuboid Aru
  • Scathelock
  • Origin Story
  • Lincoln Green
  • Nameless Midnight
  • Jiangshi/Uriel's
  • Nightshade
  • MIDA *yawn*
  • Call to Serve

Am I overlooking anything? Any others i should give more of a shot?
