it's definitely a technical marvel, the same way SFIV on 3DS was a technical marvel but is not the definitive experience. It is a great experience still though as the portability makes up for the cons.
Any version of Doom that runs at 30 FPS is a bad version of Doom.

Well this is all undocked stuff right now, you never know what will happen when docked and I don't say that as hope, just that we still don't know whats up with docked mode.

I agree, if Switch is your only way to play it, then by all means grab this version. Unless it comes out that there's some other significant issue with the port.
I'm really talking mainly about people who have the option to get it on Switch or another platform, and it would specifically be their first time playing. Based off of this, I would never recommend this port of DOOM 2016 to someone playing it for the first time if they could play it on PS4/Xbox One/PC. If they only have a Switch, then of course their only option is this port, and this port will probably be okay.
I think something can be technically impressive but still a bad port.
I think this and wolfenstein are still gonna sell good. I dont think any games on Switch sell bad particularly

No one that played it is saying it's a bad port though...I think something can be technically impressive but still a bad port.
Too many people, sadly, still believe this.
Before Bethesda's announcement nobody would've thought this port would even be possible. And now we got people acting disappointed because it's not 60fps. I look at this shit and I'm amazed how close it looks like Doom.

I could say the same about any game, why bother making anything not 60fps on consoles, better release the games exclusively on PC and let us play 4K, ultra, 120fps.
with that in mind a 3ds port would be entirely shocking.

They literally said, "how did they do that?" and "probably better than on a PC with equivalent specs." That's more than just an OK port, that sounds like a great port.
I didn't get to watch the video yet, but isn't this statement kind of dumb from DF? Isn't everything from a console compared to a PC with "equivalent specs" going to run better since it is coded to the metal and not running Windows? Is there even a PC that could be built today that would really fall in line with the "equivalent specs" of a Switch?
What the hell is going on in this thread?
If Digital Foundry says it's a good port for what it is, I'd like to give them the benefit of the doubt since they're the technical experts.
Other people acting like 30fps took on a human form and went on a rampage murdering all of the cute puppies in the world. 30fps is of course not desirable, but it's not the end of the world, either.
Nintendo fans talking about "technical marvel" need to chill the hell out. This is an OK port whose performance seems to align with the hardware's capabilities. Let's not act like this is a miracle from the gods or anything.
It's pretty simple, really. If you: (1) have no other gaming platform; (2) want DOOM on the go; (3) or simply want to support third parties on the Switch, then get the game. Otherwise, don't.
But holy cow at the amount of hyperbole and console warring going on here. We're better than that, y'all.

It's like they're not even trying. I don't even think some of them care about this or ever planned on getting this game.No one that played it is saying it's a bad port though...
Think it's more because it's a fast fps arcade shooter and for that 60fps is necessaryI really doubt this game will lose any major sales based on nerds who can't tolerate 30fps. The vast, vast majority will enjoy this game for what it is, a portable fucking DOOM. I can't wait. Looks great, if it's stable 30fps, it's a win.
Destiny 2 and DOOM are completely different beastsDestiny 2 feels absolutely fine at 30 FPS. 30 FPS is fine for me as long as it is a decent lock. If it's a good port, and it sounds like it is, then I'm in.

It's cool that Doom is coming to Switch, but in the end, it's only for people that really need it portable. It's like back in the day when a lot of games also had hand held versions on Game Gear and Game Boy. You only got those versions if you really wanted a portable version of that game. It's almost like we are returning to a time like that again.

Doom is the first AAA current gen third party game on 6 inch portable system with only resolution and frame rate concessions. It's a game that was released on PS4 and X1 on a system where people expected last gen ports.
This is unexpected.
It is impressive on a technical level
It is setting a precedent for third parties.
I'll take Richard Leadbetter's analysis of the game over your hot take.
If this is the standard what isn't a technical marvel? Any game that runs on any console would then be a tech marvel.

The DOOM switch port is great and portable. If you really want your 60fps you can buy that on different devices. Bye.
Looks good. But I don't think I can play Doom 2016 at 30fps after playing it at 60. I'll probably wait for the sale and get it for the novelty of handheld Doom 2016.
Youre gonna get it even though you cant play it?
