Man, people are sleeping on the this Ryu/Nemesis team.

I kind of underestimated how good shoryuken tag and punch super tag would be. Now I wanna see this team win something lol...

Does it even teach about the free level 3 off of Stone? Watching a ton of pro matches a bunch of them didn't seem to know you can use it. There's a couple mechanics that aren't really spelt out well at all.

There seem to be a few specific character missions that utilize it. I think Hawkeye 10 was one of them.

I'm not sure if I immediately caught onto the fact that there was no meter cost attached to it, though. I thought it was just a situational button shortcut at first.

I feel like this "Mahvel looks like shit" meme has beyond taken a life of its own, to the point when even game reviewers are saying it has horrible graphics.

Like...this actually looks good to me.

The story mode cutscenes look really rough at times especially any scene where the character are expected to be emoting. Also a lot of the intro/winning animations look spotty as well. It's really jarring hearing Morrigan say some seductive dialogue while her character is just standing there with almost no emotion while rolling her wrists. Presumably all the reviewers played through the story mode which is probably where the spotty character models and lack of expressiveness in facial expressions are at their worst which is where those sentiments are probably coming from

That being said I feel like not a whole lot of people are mentioning that the game looks pretty good in motion. In actual fights the game looks pretty good and despite all the chaotic crap that's going on the game is still very readable. The game I feel gets a lot of shit because its art style isn't as good as MvC3's but I feel like that game is the Wind Waker of fighting games and is still going to look great 10 years from now. Almost every fighting game is going to look like crap if that's what they're being compared to IMO aside from the ASW games.

I just wish that a year or 2 from now Capcom will do a "Super" update for the game going through and doing some work on the facial expressions as well as getting new models for some of the more egregious offenders. They could also update the menu and the in-game UI as well. I just feel like aside from the roster 90% of this game's problems is because there wasn't enough money behind it.

Heck they could probably change money for it, especially if they get the go-ahead to use Xmen characters for it. If they had a $40 Super version that fixed most of the visual stuff and added in a ton of the fan-favorites from Marvel 2 and 3 I feel like it would be pretty well received and at least in the core FGC would sell pretty well. From the Marvel side they could get Wolverine, Magneto, Doom, Deadpool, and maybe Storm.

I really want Strider's appearance from the 2014 reboot as a costume.

It doesn't look nearly as good as its predecessor and isn't up to par with its competition. Basically this game is at a good enough stage not a this is really good or this is amazing stage. There is no reason why Dante in 2008 and 2011 games looks vastly better than Dante in a 2017 game.

That's the weird thing it's actually a better looking engine gameplay wise the only stuff that looks way off are cut scenes. At least they can improve it over time with some lighting fixes and such. KI and KOFIV improved a lot through patches so I guess we just have to get used to the constant title updates improving the game as a platform over time.

I get the impression that the internal Capcom team did the in-battle stuff, and outsourced all the story mode stuff. If you watch the end credits there's a TON of different companies that contributed animation stuff.

Yeah the game has graphical blemishes especially up-close but overall it looks pretty good where/when it matters. The stages especially look great to me. My major gripe is that it reuses a lot of animation from MvC3 instead of following the standard set by SFV, but that's to be expected I guess considering it has twice the characters at launch. Colors could pop out more too, it has too much of that MCU-like color palette. And apparently the PC version doesn't have motion blur like on SFV, that sucks.

I don't give a rat's ass about story mode, or that it looks awful. SFV's story mode looks even worse, the proportions on the characters makes them look ten times as fucked as they do on Mahvel outside of gameplay. "Thankfully" all the cut-scenes are CG on Infinite, so there's no chance of Capcom wasting further resources on this useless crap.

So, I haven't gone through story mode fully yet (I'm playing it with my sister and she's been busy) so I don't know if it unlocks more concept art but I'm looking at the concept art gallery and wondering why only a few characters have concept art. Was there no concept art drawn up for the others? I mean, I assume no concept art was drawn for Spencer, at least...

I've been wondering the same...I can't find out how to unlock more and don't see anything online either. Most of the cast is missing even after beating story mode.

Who is using that team? Is Nemesis easy to use?

Heroic Legacy and some other guy was using the team. It was running rotation on Keits' stream. I don't know if he's easy to use, but he has simple and effective toolset but depending on the matchups he might have a hard time.

I forgot that they were using mind stone because the team could spam counter switches and Nemesis rush punch super.

You just got to accept that everyone will be running Gamora or Ultron right now.

Could have sworn that Nemisis, Hawkeye and Nova got some mileage the other night too with them. Granted though, let's cross our fingers that there will be diversity in what some players use (or at least the DLC characters can change people's minds).

I'm using haggar/dorm and scrubbing people out with lariat-tag into dorm then super has been eating people up. I'm sure there's a better way to optimize it but it's my panic mode lol

Jedahbro's. What's the highest you're topping off on solo combos? I'm going slightly over 6k with 1 bar and 77 with the level 3.

No concept art:

Morrigan
Chris
Nemesis
Arthur
Firebrand
Strider Hiryu
Haggar
Frank West
Spencer
Spider-Man
Dormammu
Ghost Rider

They're all wearing their MvC3 outfits so concept art isn't really necessary, though Chun-Li, Dante, and Nova have concept art and seem relatively unchanged.

I finished the story mode last night too, and I honestly think it was just concept art for some characters, unlocking the "story mode" characters in Dr. Light's character viewer, and getting a few titles you can show off to others you fight against to show that you beat the story mode.

Don't know if playing online or beating arcade mode unlocks anything additional to just titles, but that's the joys of a new game launch.

Basically where I'm at. Though animation doesn't bother me.

Even in the Fighting Games Headquarter thread people are posting blurry screencaps of blatantly cherry picked moments to paint a game as a whole. But on the whole, it looks pretty damn good and the inconsistencies in art are not nearly in prevalent in gameplay as they are in story mode closeups.

The game doesn't look amazing but aside from a few glaring examples it still looks decent, and it's still one of the most well animated fighters on the market. Marvel 3 was one of the most fluid fighters ever made and this ain't much different. Seeing it in motion is lovely.

Call me slow, but i just realized why the main menu is so basic and lame: It changes to reflect the characters in your fighter card.

It made the title screen a little more clever for me.

Still I wish that it'd be more similar to the diorama that was in the demo. They could've made unique poses for everyone - or even let us customize the poses.

The character select renders are sharp and clean, but the main menu/victory renders are blurry, poorly lit, amateurish messes. At the very least, I wish the victory renders were redone in the style of the select screen ones.

I do like that it doesn't show your opponent's characters until after both of you have picked that would have saved me a lot of trouble with counter picks in Injustice 2. Also, I feel like I'm getting worse but I did watch Sonicfox get destroyed and called bad so that makes me feel a little better.

It's hard to get out of UMVC3 mode and play this game properly O:

That thread is only a few steps removed from R/Kappa tbh

Releasing that DLC trailer right after the game's release was a huge mistake for perception by Capcom. Now people on the fence are on guard about how they won't get a complete game.

People were already on the fence back when Sigma was confirmed as a DLC character with five other "Brand new DLC characters" to go with him in a special edition. Showing a trailer at this point isn't going to change the minds of those who already had an axe to grind on this issue.

We live in an age of season passes and pre-order exclusives. I don't see how this kind of thing matters anymore.

Literally had people complaining about when the DLC characters were coming and what they looked like. It's a no win situation - release the trailer before the game drops and hear people complain, or release the trailer after the game drops to show people what the character can do and people complain.

And I could have sworn the DLC for IJ2 was announced prior to the game. Same with Tekken. And fuck if Gundam didn't do it worse outta every FG lately in that regard.

That is true. I suppose you could say the mistake was made extremely early on, then the further trailer drop just made people even more mad.

Like Jaw mentioned earlier, it's like death by a thousand cuts... Capcom has absolutely no control of fan perception right now. Maybe it doesn't matter to them and it's actually working out well behind the scenes regardless of these decisions.
