Marvel Heroes 2016 |OT3| Highway to the Danger Room

This is factually incorrect. The game has changed a lot since some of you dropped it. There are lots of modes you can spend time playing.

I checked back in a few weeks ago and it's still true. Most of the game is setting it to auto-play and doing loads of menu management. You don't need to tell me mr whale bad Marvel f2p game apologist.

Oh man I though the Omega prestige was a one time 200 Eternity Splinter cost for all heroes with how they worded it.

But the RECIPE to Omega prestige is 200 ES. For each hero to actually Omega Prestige you need 400 ES each.

Gaz have gone off the deep end. Think I'll just Platinum this game and delete it forever.

400 ES per char is actually not that bad on the PC end, as folks there have literally thousands of ES saved up and not a whole lot to spend them on for the past year. I don't think I could bother if I was a relatively fresh console player though.

Try doing something other than, you know, the farming missions? There are three other tabs full of modes. I get that you don't like the game, but at least bring up criticisms that show you know what you're talking about.

I've played enough to know what I'm talking about, you don't have to condescend to me. I don't have anything to prove, this wasn't a debate until you tried making it one and I'm not interested in that. I think it's a bad game that caters to ultra whales by throwing endless roadblocks and frustrations at you including some of the worst RNG bullshit I've ever experienced (gear upgrading), and of course you can buy your way around almost all of it. What part of it is actually good I don't think is worth dealing with the tedium of all the rest of it - most of it just feels like chores.

Backlash will ensue then they'll come forward and say it's a bug and change it.

Side note, it was confirmed that Omega difficulty won't be balanced around being Omega Prestiged. It'll just be easier (and easier) if you do it.

I've already seen several people on PS4 with the yellow glow. I'm guessing there's those that buy everything available for these ftp games.

Anyone see the Q&A at the forums about Omega Prestiging? They answered some of the more common questions about it and then at the end of the thread stated what they will be addressing from the feedback they got in the thread.

Here's the first part:

Hey folks,

We’ve been closely following all of your feedback regarding the new Omega Prestige feature since it launched last week. Now that players have had a chance to get their hands on the feature, we wanted to open up a Q&A to help address a few of your most common questions and concerns about Omega Prestige, and what the future holds for this feature.

Why not respond more widely to feedback about Omega Prestige before today?

Some players have asked us why a response post such as this one didn't come out sooner. As I mentioned earlier on the forums today, sometimes reacting too quickly to feedback can do more harm than good - Omega Prestige is a brand new feature that changes the dynamic of the Prestige system that has existed in Marvel Heroes for some time, and we knew that players would have a wide range of reactions and feedback due to that.

We wanted to make sure that we did due diligence in collecting, reading and evaluating everyone's feedback. We understand that players said a great deal in reaction to Omega Prestige these past few days, and recognize how prominently it has been discussed. This is why we wanted to take our time with our initial response and ensure it is carefully considered. As with any new system we introduce, the process for gathering feedback is ongoing. There’s been a lot of thoughtful and detailed opinions given from the community, and they’ve been appreciated and are being taken into consideration as we move forward.

Why was Omega Prestige not released alongside new content to experience during the Prestige process?

This is one of the more frequent comments we’ve received since launching Omega Prestige, and new content is currently one of our priorities. Ultimately, we simply decided that since the Omega Prestige feature was ready to be rolled out, that it did not make sense for us to hold the feature back to wait for some of the upcoming content that is still in development.

New content is something that is going to be coming to Marvel Heroes Omega for as long as we continue to operate. In the near future, we have the upcoming Age of Apocalypse content, Omega Difficulty, and the first raid experience for consoles before year’s end. Omega Prestige is the kind of feature that only grows in value as we add content, so we feel the more Omega Prestige ready characters that can create before this content gets released, the better.

The other element to releasing Omega Prestige slightly earlier is you. Player feedback has always been extremely valuable to us, and the sooner we can put something in your hands, the sooner we get to hear your thoughts on where it is succeeding and where it isn’t. To that end, it puts us in a better position if we feel changes should be made to the Omega Prestige feature, so that the following set of Omega Prestige character upgrades see those improvements as soon as possible.

Why do I have to Prestige my hero to gain power, instead of continuing to progress in endgame content?

This is one of the other more common concerns regarding Omega Prestige, and one that we do understand. Omega Prestige is different than most of our other alternate advancement systems in that instead of continuing to play in endgame-focused content, you are returned back to level 1 each time you begin an Omega Prestige.

On a fundamental level, the main goal for us with Omega Prestige was two-fold - increase the value of the Prestige system that many players were already choosing to participate in, as well as increase the value of the entire breadth of our available content. One of the dangers of content development is that it is easy to have content become devalued. If your hero stands to gain nothing in terms of overall progression from certain content, then often times that content simply becomes pointless and players never have a reason to return to it, even if they might have enjoyed playing through some of that content previously. It also places an extreme focus on content that is focused on the endgame - no matter how quickly we could produce content, players will quickly work their way through it, and feel like they’ve returned to a place where they have only the latest content available to play in for any form of meaningful progression.

With Omega Prestige, we want to give players the choice to be able to jump back into any of our existing content and still feel like they can add valuable progression to their hero. Some players will choose to stay at maximum level and work on progression in our endgame content, which is perfectly fine. Omega Prestige isn’t the kind of feature that we expect players to fully grind through all at once, but more of an option they have available to continue their progression while changing up what content they do that through.

All of that said, this particular topic is the one that we are most closely evaluating and listening to your feedback on. We don’t want Omega Prestige to feel like a chore that you feel obligated to perform to be able to participate in our endgame content - far from it. While we don’t have any specific changes to announce today, this aspect of Omega Prestige is one that we will be examining the most going forward and will make changes to if we feel it isn’t fulfilling that role to the best of its abilities.

Only Spider-Man is available for Omega Prestige. How long will it be before my favorite hero gains access to this feature?

Spider-Man is just the beginning. Now that the feature is up and running and we have the framework in place, we plan to begin rolling out Omega Prestige access to more heroes on a faster timetable. Going forward, we plan to release Omega Prestige upgrades more quickly - in some cases for multiple heroes at a time - so that we can roll out Omega Prestige to our entire roster on a more aggressive timetable.

One of the other questions many players had was regarding new hero releases - whether Omega Prestige would be made available immediately for future heroes. Our current plan is focused on the existing roster, so we don’t currently plan to make Omega Prestige available to a brand new hero immediately upon their release, but because the feature is already live, these new heroes are being made with Omega Prestige in mind, and their Omega Prestige upgrade will likely follow more quickly than with existing heroes.

If you have more questions or comments regarding Omega Prestige, please feel free to leave them here in this thread. We’ll be continuing to read your comments and try to answer some additional questions where we can - we’ll likely close this thread tomorrow once folks have had the opportunity to comment, and allow remaining discussion around Omega Prestige to return to the rest of the forums after that.

Thanks for reading, and for all of your feedback on Omega Prestige thus far!

Here's the last:

Hey folks,

As mentioned yesterday, we are going to conclude this thread and allow discussion and feedback to return to the forums at large.

We did want to take a moment and say that we understand the sentiment from some of you that not enough concrete answers about your concerns were given. Note that the intention of this thread was to acknowledge the top recurring talking points from our players, provide some initial responses to those, and then proceed to gather feedback while providing some answers, as part of an ongoing dialogue with our players.

As we close this particular topic, though, we do want to reiterate that we’re still committed to reading and evaluating everyone’s feedback and have read all the posts in this thread. A few of the recurring topics from you that we currently looking at and intend to take back internally for discussion include, but are not limited to:

Stack size of Omega Essence and overall inventory concerns related to Omega Prestige
Ways to make Omega Prestige feel less isolated from the rest of the cyclical endgame progression
Ways to reduce the feeling of repetition or open up more content options for those leveling through an Omega Prestige
More granular purchase options for those that already own a particular Hero
These are just some of the points being discussed regarding Omega Prestige. We’ll talk again in the future on the forums when we have any specific changes to announce or any information we can share regarding questions we did not have a chance to answer.

Thanks again for all of your comments. Know that your feedback has been appreciated and we will continue to use it to improve Marvel Heroes Omega, now and going forward.

It seems like most people's problems with OP is that you have to relevel through the story again and again instead of just keeping your level 60 and doing it from there. If they make that change or at least give people the option to not have to go through the story every time, I think it would make OP a lot better and worth doing.

400 splinters is still too much. Definitely a cash grab. At least they're putting effort into it with the traits and legendaries.

Eh, I'll probably do it once if Carol gets added to the eligible heroes.

Wait some of you are still actively playing?

I stopped playing for a while and got to come back to a lot of new content and heroes so currently I'm happy with playing. I feel like that's the way to play games in this genre (diablo, PoE, others). Play a lot for a while, leave, and then come back when you feel like there is sufficient content. The decisions Gaz makes business wise might not always be agreeable, but the core gameplay is great and it has an aesthetic I really enjoy. As long as there's content for me to experience I'll always come back.

Every time I see this thread popup I think of how fast and far this game fell and I get sad... Omega Prestige? Are you having a fucking laugh.

Did you stop playing for 2 years? I feel it's been that long since there was anything new worth a damn.

Probably something like a year or so. There's a bunch of stuff that's new to me that I could list off to probably give a better timetable. I understand where the people who have been playing the entire time are coming from, but the same thing happens to those kind of people with other games in the same genre. People were pretty burnt out on PoE for a while until they came out with the latest expansion and then the popularity exploded. I'm not saying the omega patch will be that for MH, but if they change it to being able to stay at 60 it'll help.

Here's some stuff that's new to me since I've been gone:
Dr Strange terminal
Raids/Hammer Bay/Upgrades that come from it
The BUE in general
Cosmic Trial (didn't exist when I first started doing cosmic stuff)
Plethora of heroes/villains
Danger Room
Shield vs hydra event, Cosmic chaos event

Some other stuff I'm probably forgetting. Hell I never really even normally prestiged a character before the other day. There was just a lull in games for me to play so I decided to come back and get some friends to play with me and they're enjoying it as well. I'll take a break again at some point but I'm sure I'll come back again unless it just dies.

Wasn't hightown like... the last actual big addition to the game when it comes to content? Maybe that Ultron park mode, I don't remember when that was.

There have been a few terminals and heroes I guess

Ya I'm 90% sure all of that stuff is at least 15 months old, minus the Dr. Strange terminal and whatever movie tie-in terminals they did.

The omega patch will change nothing unless the apocalypse content is considerable because no one wants to run heroes through the same old content anymore.

Just because I hate free time:

Raids/Hammer Bay/Upgrades that come from it - Hammer Bay/upgrades(ilvl 80 legendary)/Axis green raid April 3rd 2015 / The Muspelheim raid August 3rd 2014
The BUE in general - January 19th 2017 (no content added, system and hero changes)
Cosmic Trial (didn't exist when I first started doing cosmic stuff) - July/August 2015
Danger Room - December 10th 2015

What I suspect is the last actual landmass added to the game:

Hightown Patrol - January 2016

The red version of Axis has been teased for over 2 years and never released. The currency that bosses were supposed to drop from there are in the game but unobtainable outside of champion caches from achievements.

Wait some of you are still actively playing?

I'm gonna get platinum trophy and quit. Console version is even worse than PC, missing loads of heroes, getting drip fed new heroes that are clearly just being held back so can sell them exclusively for a while, missing parts of story, no uniques, no raids, 1 patrol, no free way of getting costumes outside of a single RNG box when hit 60 for first time (9 characters in and nothing). Lower XP cap.

List is endless.

Omega Prestige just takes the piss though. No doing endgame 'content', no playing on Cosmic difficulty (so less XP) and no using all those items you spent time farming. So what is the point?

OP is for people who like to prestige. Weird as it sounds, there are people who crave leveling even after cosmic prestige (PC version). This is mainly for them.

I logged on to buy and try carnage and thought he was neat and then forgot all about the game.

The game is terrible now. I hate that I have 1100+ hours and spent over $800+ on a game that I can't stand to play an hour now.

On the plus side I'm now immune to other F2P games even if they are good at the moment.

There's something really funny about them having a 200mb patch yesterday and all it did was remove the Defenders event and do nothing else.

On PS4 the last patch broke the game. Now the maps fail to load sometimes, or stop loading when you're travelling (used to just take a few seconds now and then), sometimes map loads but not character, other times get hard freeze when try warp to HQ.

Have to quit app and restart every 20-30 minutes.

I dont get this mentality. Did you not enjoy those 1k hours?

thats like saying "I hate wow now so I hate all the time and money I spent on subs"

I can't explain my feeling, I just do. it's like if you look at my profile, I'm advocating a game that doesn't exist anymore and a new, much worse game has taken its place.

So they are updating Venom cause he is shit

Then they are selling him on consoles Sept 14th for a limited time and he will not be sold again until later in the year.

Also this updated Venom will not release on PC until the Omega patch which is still probably two months away.

It's like they played 2 dozen f2p games for market research and decided to try one (1) sales strategy from every one of them without deciding on an overall business model for the game, it's wild. I guess that's what happens when you take an existing game with an established business model and try to retrofit it into something else.

So they already going against their statement that new characters 1 month real cash exclusive, then ES for a month, then reduced ES.

yuh but 6 month exlusive spider-woman

edit: oh for what it's worth, they are still trying for the end of October, they just aren't confident in getting it out.

This means that the console will get the Apocalypse update, including Omega 1 difficutly and its rewards, before we can get this patch to PC.

The console prestiging system is probably coming to PC. On console it isn't nearly as slow to level to cosmic, and no there will be no compensation for people that have already cosmic prestiged at the slower rate.

Costume closet is part of the patch.

we must, in order to run all 3 games (PC, XBox, and PS4) well, make maintaining those games as efficient and similar to one another as we can.

what's baffling to me is... well, everything, but the new thing baffling me... they're going back to a bajillion different tags for things? Didn't we consolidate down to Physical/Mental/Energy at some point? Now there are "Leaping" powers?

The fuck?

Ya there are a shit load of tags, even elemental tags like fire and wind I think. They don't actually do anything differently damage-wise except interact with items and skills that help those tags.

I think that's how it works on the console version, and they are moving it to the PC to be easier to patch both games. Which of course means uniques will be useless.

Those items don't exactly look interesting. Was hoping they'd get some unique builds like the D3 sets enabled but this... What about any of this justifies such a long wait?

The original design when they were announced had affixes that changed skills

They have been redesigned multiple times since then.

This new system is reminding me of Diablo 3 launch itemization. Just when I was praising Marvel Heroes for not nerfing stuff like D3 devs was doing around that time, and being more fun with understandable gear at the time. Now it's like D3 launch, as in you have to pray that the planets align with all of these random affixes when your wizard only need int, crit, and increased attack speed. Hello thorns, dex, vit, str, regen, the many elemental resistances, the many +0.2% proc effects, item level (the most annoying one at the time), and so much more.

I hope it won't be as bad as D3's but I'll prepare myself for disappointment.
