Hey folks,
Weve been closely following all of your feedback regarding the new Omega Prestige feature since it launched last week. Now that players have had a chance to get their hands on the feature, we wanted to open up a Q&A to help address a few of your most common questions and concerns about Omega Prestige, and what the future holds for this feature.
Why not respond more widely to feedback about Omega Prestige before today?
Some players have asked us why a response post such as this one didn't come out sooner. As I mentioned earlier on the forums today, sometimes reacting too quickly to feedback can do more harm than good - Omega Prestige is a brand new feature that changes the dynamic of the Prestige system that has existed in Marvel Heroes for some time, and we knew that players would have a wide range of reactions and feedback due to that.
We wanted to make sure that we did due diligence in collecting, reading and evaluating everyone's feedback. We understand that players said a great deal in reaction to Omega Prestige these past few days, and recognize how prominently it has been discussed. This is why we wanted to take our time with our initial response and ensure it is carefully considered. As with any new system we introduce, the process for gathering feedback is ongoing. Theres been a lot of thoughtful and detailed opinions given from the community, and theyve been appreciated and are being taken into consideration as we move forward.
Why was Omega Prestige not released alongside new content to experience during the Prestige process?
This is one of the more frequent comments weve received since launching Omega Prestige, and new content is currently one of our priorities. Ultimately, we simply decided that since the Omega Prestige feature was ready to be rolled out, that it did not make sense for us to hold the feature back to wait for some of the upcoming content that is still in development.
New content is something that is going to be coming to Marvel Heroes Omega for as long as we continue to operate. In the near future, we have the upcoming Age of Apocalypse content, Omega Difficulty, and the first raid experience for consoles before years end. Omega Prestige is the kind of feature that only grows in value as we add content, so we feel the more Omega Prestige ready characters that can create before this content gets released, the better.
The other element to releasing Omega Prestige slightly earlier is you. Player feedback has always been extremely valuable to us, and the sooner we can put something in your hands, the sooner we get to hear your thoughts on where it is succeeding and where it isnt. To that end, it puts us in a better position if we feel changes should be made to the Omega Prestige feature, so that the following set of Omega Prestige character upgrades see those improvements as soon as possible.
Why do I have to Prestige my hero to gain power, instead of continuing to progress in endgame content?
This is one of the other more common concerns regarding Omega Prestige, and one that we do understand. Omega Prestige is different than most of our other alternate advancement systems in that instead of continuing to play in endgame-focused content, you are returned back to level 1 each time you begin an Omega Prestige.
On a fundamental level, the main goal for us with Omega Prestige was two-fold - increase the value of the Prestige system that many players were already choosing to participate in, as well as increase the value of the entire breadth of our available content. One of the dangers of content development is that it is easy to have content become devalued. If your hero stands to gain nothing in terms of overall progression from certain content, then often times that content simply becomes pointless and players never have a reason to return to it, even if they might have enjoyed playing through some of that content previously. It also places an extreme focus on content that is focused on the endgame - no matter how quickly we could produce content, players will quickly work their way through it, and feel like theyve returned to a place where they have only the latest content available to play in for any form of meaningful progression.
With Omega Prestige, we want to give players the choice to be able to jump back into any of our existing content and still feel like they can add valuable progression to their hero. Some players will choose to stay at maximum level and work on progression in our endgame content, which is perfectly fine. Omega Prestige isnt the kind of feature that we expect players to fully grind through all at once, but more of an option they have available to continue their progression while changing up what content they do that through.
All of that said, this particular topic is the one that we are most closely evaluating and listening to your feedback on. We dont want Omega Prestige to feel like a chore that you feel obligated to perform to be able to participate in our endgame content - far from it. While we dont have any specific changes to announce today, this aspect of Omega Prestige is one that we will be examining the most going forward and will make changes to if we feel it isnt fulfilling that role to the best of its abilities.
Only Spider-Man is available for Omega Prestige. How long will it be before my favorite hero gains access to this feature?
Spider-Man is just the beginning. Now that the feature is up and running and we have the framework in place, we plan to begin rolling out Omega Prestige access to more heroes on a faster timetable. Going forward, we plan to release Omega Prestige upgrades more quickly - in some cases for multiple heroes at a time - so that we can roll out Omega Prestige to our entire roster on a more aggressive timetable.
One of the other questions many players had was regarding new hero releases - whether Omega Prestige would be made available immediately for future heroes. Our current plan is focused on the existing roster, so we dont currently plan to make Omega Prestige available to a brand new hero immediately upon their release, but because the feature is already live, these new heroes are being made with Omega Prestige in mind, and their Omega Prestige upgrade will likely follow more quickly than with existing heroes.
If you have more questions or comments regarding Omega Prestige, please feel free to leave them here in this thread. Well be continuing to read your comments and try to answer some additional questions where we can - well likely close this thread tomorrow once folks have had the opportunity to comment, and allow remaining discussion around Omega Prestige to return to the rest of the forums after that.
Thanks for reading, and for all of your feedback on Omega Prestige thus far!
