Trump takes shots at Kaepernick, ‘Get that son of a bitch off the field’

I hope after that last tweet of Trumps they start kneeling. Standing linked was never going to work.

Trump is incapable of letting go, so we can look forward to many more people kneeling to protest and many more unhinged twitter tirades from the dotard.

Shit's gonna spiral out of control.

Wow! I thought Boston was rather progressive?

Boston has a long history of racial issues related to sports. Just this year there's been a lot of issues with the n-word at Fenway Park. Visiting players complain about it a lot, and Celtics players (even the beloved ones like Bill Russell) have noted the racism.

A player from the Cowboys just made it clear to me that they've all gotten the message that taking a knee will put them "on the shit list"

Hmmm.
Every Cowboy player should be clear on the reality that to team ownership, their lives beyond the football field do not matter to them. They are nothing more than expensive toys, providing nothing but entertainment value. Providing anything other than singing and dancing will put you on the shit list.

So take a knee. The entire team. They want the status quo affirmed with Trump's bullshit. The solution is to mercilessly challenge it.

At that point, I don't know what else they think they should do. If taking the knee gets you in the doghouse, all for one, one for all. Doghouse the entire team, see how that does you. Sadly it doesn't take many hold-outs to jeopardise everyone else.

For not being white you're sure acting fragile. I am white btw.

Pro-tip: the white people on the side of racial justice don't take it personally when someone says "fuck white people." They agree with that statement because it refers to the apathy and complacency of the moderate majority.

People who don't understand this are willfully not understanding it and trying to feel victimized so they don't have to feel responsible.

I think it's too early to say this. The league is under a lot of pressure. Millions of Americans voted for and support Trump, and there's a lot of overlap between this group and NFL fans. Millions more are "in the middle" and don't want their football "disrupted" by political statements.

People with influence are under no obligation to suicide their careers for political messages, especially to appease some as ignorant to call him an “asshole” for standing AND sending a message by locking arms. Your expectations are unrealistic. He sent a message. Multiple actually. He isn’t the problem. He isn’t the sole solution either. Nothing wrong with that.

Trump coopted Brady's message. That's what happens when you're ambiguous.

Also, do you really think that the greatest quarterback of all time (and best in the NFL currently) would be killing his career to take a knee during the anthem? I don't.

NASCAR's ratings and attendance really are in the dumps

NASCAR Cup Series racing from Chicagoland, the first race of the playoffs (nee Chase For the Cup), had a 1.4 rating and 2.3 million viewers on NBCSN Sunday — down 13% in ratings and 14% in viewership from last year (1.6, 2.7M) and down 26% and 28% respectively from 2015 (1.9, 3.2M).

Excluding rainouts, Martin Truex Jr.‘s win ranks as the lowest rated and least-watched Cup Series race at Chicagoland (dates back to 2001) and the lowest rated and least-watched playoff race at any track (dates back to 2004).

It's a sport that prides itself on having fan access like no other can provide, yet the number of fans willing to show up and tune in is slipping.

It's no secret the numbers aren't what they used to be. NASCAR stopped giving attendance estimates in 2012, but at many races, empty seats can be found in abundance.

In the last 13 years NASCAR has gone through a series of changes in the hopes of drawing more viewers. In 2004, a playoff format was introduced to make the end of season more competitive. Prior to the change a driver could race well to start the season and then coast through the remainder of the races, leaving fans little to get excited about. Since then, more updates have taken place, some minor and some major, all in the name of viewership.

You know what? I'll say it. Nationalism is stupid. Symbols are stupid. The point of a state should be to protect and benefit its citizens, not require their abject and unquestioning reverence.

God, when will humans grow up?
